Amanda Marcotte: Hey, That Tebow Ad Advocated Violence Against Women!
— Ace

Actually Amanda Marcotte advocates violence against women. Ike Turner just emailed me to say, "Now you get it."

Here's her idiotic tweet.

Ed Morrissey predicted that.

I didn't see the ad until today, myself. I DVR'd the game and then fast forwarded through all in-between-plays stuff and commercials. Apparently either CBS forbade them to offer an anti-abortion message, and they had to cut that, or they chose to have no message in the ad at all, and just let word of mouth let everyone know what they were talking about. If you didn't hear about the controversy, you'd just think Pam Tebow was saying how happy she is since she almost "lost" her son, but didn't.

I suspect the former: CBS forced them to cut anything with a message at all. But, thanks to the controversy, most people know what the message was.

1 The Tebow ad was completely stupid, regardless. It was seriously like his mom bought an ad in the yearbook for him (but some PAC paid for it). Still, there were many even stupider ads last night. Today, I despair for our agency creatives. Bad work, boys. Beyond bad. Two good ads - Google and Dove Men's. Maybe. I'm trying to be nice.

5 1 (BO): If it wasn't "stupid", it wouldn't have been aired. If nothing else it's proof for the mainstream that people on the left (by and large) are completely insane when something this innocuous drives them into fits of apoplexy.

6 I liked the add (and Pam Tebow? I'd hit it!). And it was very effective. Mostly because PP and the left got their message out for them. Very judo-esque.

She should keep this up.  This is the kind of complete nonsense that reveals her for what she is: a complete partisan hack.  The idea that it encourages "violence against women" is laughable.

Any chance we could get a disturbed Bedouin to cough up, say, $4.95 for Marcotte?

Yeah, I would have pangs of guilt for the poor guy forever, too.

--And the Snickers "Betty White" ad was a pretty good, but over all a weak effort indicative of the weak economy that would have been much weaker without the Crapulus.  Or something else Tim Geithner said.

Tebow's mom tells him he's not as tough as she is in the ad.

I'd expect better from social cons, frankly. they are now on the level of the social lib braintrust behind showing old people getting crushed and thinking that's hilarious? Next year I await the ads with children roasting on spits, that will be TEH FUNNEH Think about the visuals and the messages in the ads this year. This is the pinnacle - I'm quite serious - of our advertising today. What does that say about WHAT THEY THINK OF US? What does it say about our advertising creatives? Eh, whatevs. The game was good so maybe next year someone could sponsor it ad-free so ad agencies don't have to embarrass themselves.

36 >> Yes, the Betty White ad won the night, with the e*trade babies coming in second

The football game won the night.  Of the ads that I did see, there was a bud light ad (I think) that was kinda funny.  Other than that, super bowl ads have an annoying habit of trying waaaaaaay to hard to be a silly/epic/funny/cute commercial.

I really don't get everyone's obsession with superbowl ads.  They just aren't that funny 90% of the time.  Plus, they are ads.  I feel like I am in bizzarro world when everyone is talking through the game, but then everyone is "shushed" when the commercial are about to come on.  WTF?  It is like some type of mass delusion that these ads are funny and MUST BE WATCHED.

The left got played like a fine fiddle, not only did they not mention abortion in the ad, but FotF got the whole story out for weeks before the game.  Then when the left had to come up with something to criticize, they chose violence against women, but never mention Betty White.

Number two reason for her to fade away in shame is that the Duke Lacross players were exonerated for rape charges after she femi-nazied hung them from a tree. Of course, she still thinks they were guilty.

98 Hysterical (in both senses of the word) rant on just how evil that ad and others really were by some feminazi I never heard of.  A taste:

"You know itÂ’s a rough year in misogynist Superbowl advertising when an ad suggesting that womenÂ’s role in bearing sons matters more than their very right to live canÂ’t even win the title of “Most Misogynist”.  (Though itÂ’s only on a technicality---the Tebow ad that aired during the Super Bowl was too confusing to register as overtly hateful, though it did insinuate that the only reason women die in childbirth is they arenÂ’t “tough” enough, and apparently had it coming.) The debate raging on Twitter on who wins that game seemed to settled on the tire ad where a man sacrifices his wife for some tires, and that sacrifice isnÂ’t deemed good enough, because everyone knows bitches ainÂ’t shit. Abortion = prenatal care?

Up is down.  Right is wrong.  Black is white.  And abortion is prenatal care.

106 Abortion = prenatal care?

Yep, because scraping your baby out of your womb with a sharp scalpel or sucking it out with a vacuum is the caring thing to do, don't you know.

These "women" are rapidly becoming a parody of themselves. There are places in this world where a woman can't go outdoors unless covered from head to toe and accompanied by a male relative. There are places in this world where young girls' genitalia are horribly mutilated to keep them from ever enjoying sex. And Marcotte and her ilk want to whine about Super Bowl commercials?

I guess if abuse isn't being committed by a white Christian male it doesn't count.

107 "The New Dating Game"

"Amanda Marcotte, the feminist blogger briefly hired by John Edwards during his presidential campaign, chimed in, accusing Max of a “bone-deep hatred of sexual women”"

Amanda Marcotte talking about Tucker Max being "bone deep" in "sexual women." Now that's funny.

107 -- Heh, yeah, and we all know how healthy it is for a woman's reproductive tract to have abortions -- especially abortions by the caliber of doctors usually available through Planned Parenthood.

109 Amanda Marcotte once described herself as a "cum guzzling booze hound."

Good for something.  I guess.

110 did you happen to read down her list of execrable 'tweets'? This bitch makes it her bizniz to be offended by everything and anything. She sees sexism in the most innocuous thing and must live life permanently pissed off at the patriarchy and the perceived anti-women propaganda all around her. It must really suck to be amanda mercotte.
