Amy Bishop and her husband, James Anderson, were questioned after a package containing two bombs was sent to the Newton home of Dr. Paul Rosenberg, a professor and doctor at Boston's Children's Hospital.[...]
Bishop surfaced as a suspect because she was allegedly concerned that she was going to receive a negative evaluation from Rosenberg on her doctorate work, the official said. The official said investigators believed she had a motive to target Rosenberg and were concerned that she had a history of violence, given that she had shot her brother to death in 1986.
Investigators conducted a search of the home where Bishop and Anderson were living and questioned the couple, the official said. Anderson was questioned about whether he had purchased any of the components used to make the bombs, the official said.
During a search of Bishop's computer, authorities found a draft of a novel that Bisthop was writing about a female scientist who had killed her brother and was hoping to make amends by hoping to become a great scientist, according to a person who was briefed on the investigation and spoke to the Globe on the condition of anonymity.
The US attorney's office in Boston did not seek any charges against Bishop or Anderson, and no one was ever charged with mailing the bombs to Rosenberg.
Crazee had a heckuva history.
Breaking: Reports are now emerging that Amy Bishop was seen on the grassy knoll. Rosie O'Donnell also called to say that Amy Bishop can melt steel.

Wow, you know I hate when companies want to fire someone for incompetence and then they suggest the person resign so they don't have the stigma of firing and then when the next person hiring the person they "suggested should leave" calls they give them a glowing recommendation and pat themselves on the back for having gotten rid of the employee without having to pay unemployment and they are now someone else's problem. Pipe bombs aren't high-tech. A can of black powder from a reloading supply place, and a trip to Home Depot for some 2" black iron nipples and caps is the core of one.
Where most would be bombers fuck up is in assembling the cylinder while screwing on the 2nd cap. All it takes is a spec of powder stuck in the threads that self-ignites under the tightening pressure and the whole thing can go off.
A proper letter bomb is much more sophisticated. The internal battery packs from the old style Polaroid 600 cameras used to be a favored COTS component because they were quite flat and good enough to fire a detonator.

Anybody know about the Johnny Weir soap opera? Figure skater who has fur costumes? Got death threats from fur activists? I'd've thought his gay card would have protected him from some of this.
It is really pretty amusing. He has to stay in the Olympic Village instead of the hotel for security reasons. The PETA crowd is so enflamed about his wearing of real fur. He has a ball of white fox fur on one of his costumes and it just enraged them. He says his job is to be as flamboyant as possible and he needs the fur. The whole delivery is a scream among all the eyeliner and knotted scarves.
Remember when Tom Hanks came on SNL as a cowboy skater right after the Olympic men's figure skating. This Johnny Weir thing is funnier AND more flamboyant.

You usually get on a board via a political appointment as opposed to being hired as an employee and you don't get political appointments without connections. In addition, the police file on the brother's seems to have gone missing sometime in 1988.
As to why the mother wanted her daughter released, some people in Massachusetts had some interesting ideas about murderers in the 1980s. Remember the program to allow convicted murders out on furlough to assist in their rehabiliation? They probably thought an anger management course ro two and Amy would be just fine.

So many of these academics have learned to repeat a set of words or formulas and have no idea how to deviate from that. All she could do is regurgitate.
