And so it begins...the real estate double dip is starting
— Purple Avenger

Hoax and Chains, Whips, and Double Dips!

Last month, we reported in our Q4 Real Estate Market Reports that five of the 143 markets we covered were in the throes of a “double dip,” meaning home values showed sustained monthly increases sometime during the year, but have been falling again, for at least five months in a row, on a month-over-month basis.

Some additional markets were on the double-dip watch list. Home values, measured by the Zillow Home Value Index, were falling after earlier increases, but the falls hadnÂ’t yet gone on long enough to constitute a real trend.

One month later, and 12 markets have made it onto the official double-dip list. The Providence, R.I. and Boulder, Colo. metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) are among them.

The watch list has shrunk a bit, as many markets that were on it last month sunk firmly into double dip territory after January. Ten markets, including the Boston and Denver MSAs, seem poised for a double dip. HereÂ’s the full list

So, now we see why BofA is trying to forestall strategic defaults with their 30% off principal "deal". How this situation is going to change anytime soon now that ObamaCare's new taxes and increasing HC premium costs are going to be sucking thousand of dollars more per year out of the people who might have been in a position to buy a new place remains a mystery.
		1) Less disposable income
2) ???
3) New house!
Maybe we just need sheriff Joe to "fine tune" the specifics of Step 2.

Maybe this will be the market correction that has been thirty years in the making. Long term, that could actually be OK for the country.

I feel sorry for everyone with home equity that had other plans for it.

That last part can be personally devastating.

Navin R. Johnson's economic advisors from the movie The Jerk now work for the White House.  Here is a transcript of their last meeting with Obama:

Econ Whiz 1:    If your initial investment is a half a trillion dollars and your dealerships and banks are up in March, you should have "X" amount of dollars rolling in by the end of this year.

President Obama:   Ah, "X" amount. That's very good isn't it?

Econ Whiz 2:   Not only that, you can depreciate the entire company for the full amount!

President Obama:  Depreciate!  Hum, very good.  I like that.

Has anyone read the communist manifesto for kicks?

You'll puke.  What is happening right now is exactly what Marx details needs to happen during the 'prolitariate revolution'..  He even explains that during the overthrow of the upper class system (uhh.. the people who run our economy and keep us out of the dark ages), the economic times will seem unreasonable or unsustainable.

Obama is using Marx as a manual.  no shit my friends.

Scary thing is, even marx didn't quite understand what exactly would replace the economic engine that it was trying to destroy.   This mans writings have caused the deaths of near 100 million.  He's no doubt the most overrated person ever.  A phoney intelectual who couldn't hold a job himself.  Even Marx in his lifetime denounced french workers parties using his writings... calling them 'mindless sloganeers'.  I doubt even he could fathom entire countries following him.

Obama was part of what was called the New Party

"New Party members won three other primaries this Spring in Chicago: Barack Obama (State Senate), Michael Chandler (Democratic Party Committee) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary). The paper quoted Obama saying "these victories prove that small 'd' democracy can work."

The New Party was a radical left organization, established in 1992, to amalgamate far left groups and push the United States into socialism by forcing the Democratic Party to the left. It was an attempt to regroup the forces on the left in a new strategy to take power, burrowing from within. The party only lasted until 1998, when its strategy of "fusion" failed to withstand a Supreme Court ruling.

There is a huge difference for everyone between having home prices stabilize and remain that way for a long time, compared to having a massive sunk cost get turned into vapor. Not everyone bought their house with disaster prone 0% down loan. Honest people who worked hard to establish good credit and save up a substantial sum for the down are getting hit pretty hard. They can live without having any profit potential in their home but having the value drop well below what you've already spent and still owing plenty more is a bitter thing to taste.

OTOH, I'm amazed at the number of whiners who bought during a ridiculously inflated market instead of biding their time, renting something smallish while saving up money for a serious down payment when the market corrected.

39 Maybe now people will begin to understand why it's a historical fact FDR was a Fascists and F'ed everything up on purpose prolonging the great recession and turning it into the great depression. Only WWII and the untimely death of FDR in 1945, saved America from his ruin.

Similar to what Oboz is now doing, as Dingell said "to control the people".

40 (2) If you can pass either (A) a "means test" that demonstrates that you are among the 40% of Americans who pay no taxes because your income is too low; or (B) you are a registered Democrat; the government will subsidize a lower interest rate tailored to your financial situation and will guarantee your loan.

It is getting more and more disapointing to watch CNBC, I mean when something is logical and makes sense and you deny it, then what does that say about you and your channel?

Well, they have to live somewhere, and they'll likely have more living space and quiet than in a similarly priced (in terms of monthly payment) apartment.

And if BoA is their mortgage holder, they can knock off 30% on their principal. Bonus!

43 Here in Nevada there has been no double dip just a big bottomless crater. Thanks meteor guy. I bought back in 04 after moving here from Az and put 60k down on a 287K house. It is now underwater and my equity is gone and the market here is so bloated with walkaways and repos that I doubt I will ever see the equity again. But a contract is a contract and I will keep paying my mortgage as long as I'm employed and able. I'm betting that I will not have to worry about it much longer though with the way the national debt is blowing up. I will soon(within the next 5 years) be able to pay off my loan with a months pay when hyperinflation kicks in.

Interesting news.  I so hate interesting news these days...

So, soon it will be campaign season.  It is possible that after campaign season we could find the R's presiding over this mess, at least in the legislative branch.  My question is, aside from taking advantage of the fact that the D's have gone full-retard, what are our guys proposing to support private industry/business and spur job growth?  Do any of the leaders have an alternate program that makes any sense?  Or are they planning to watch in silent horror, maintaining some kind of status quo, as things continue to swirl down the toilet?

Deficit reduction is vital, and I hope they can manage it, but it is NOT a cure all.  It doesn't bring companies back to the US, and while it will slow the destruction of American business, it will not automatically start to restore it.

Do they have any clear plans to destroy the idea of cap and trade, and expand energy production?  Do they plan to remove barriers to manufacturing production?  Rein in the EPA?  What about the currency manipulation and export subsidies of our so-called trade partners?  How about sealing the borders and exporting our illegal excess low-skill labor capacity back to its point of origin?  How about slowing remittances by foreigners working in the US, which drains our economy of 30 billion+ dollars per year plus the loss of the multiplier effect of those billions?

In short, do our guys have a plan?  Or will they go back to their standard tactic of sitting around with their thumbs up their asses?

You won't get within miles of his little preplanned photo op rally I'm quite certain.  No, they'll do this the same way they've handled all of these little trips of late, the only people there will be there on an invite only basis.

If your not a Democratic party supporter or an SEIU member they bussed in from the 6th circle of Hell (or whereever it is they seem to bus these people in from) then your not getting anywhere near this rally, and even if you do get an extremely sizeable protest you won't get an ounce of news coverage for it, because as the lame stream media will tell you everyone who matters just loves ObamaCare and anyone who doesn't is just a racist malcontent.

Won't gunning down millions of people in the street cause a lot of harmful carbon dioxide to be released into the air and just exacerbate the problem?  ROTFL..  man, what an idiot this guy is.  Maybe he should head down to Venezuela and hang out with Chavez and Sean Penn.

That way he could actually make buddies with Chavez, who I'm sure would be more than happy to execute a few guys for him for denying global warming, just as he's been more than happy to execute reporters who point out he's a thug and a dictator rather than a democratically elected leader of anything.

Comrades all is well with the economy

March 25 (Bloomberg) -- Initial jobless claims fell to the lowest level in six weeks as the rebound in the economy encourages companies to make fewer cuts in payrolls.

First-time jobless applications declined by 14,000 to 442,000 in the week ended March 20, lower than anticipated, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. The number of people receiving unemployment increase decreased, and those getting extended benefits also fell.

See comrades, there are less of you to lay off and more of you have run out of benefits so all is well with the economy all thanks to Comrade Chairman Obama.

Rotflmao - Ok, where do you even start with this lunacy?  Well, first of all this monstrosity will most definately not have people paying less for healthcare.  When you increase taxes on medical equipment that means hospital costs go up, no down.  If hospital costs go up, they in turn charge more for their services, not less.  If hospitals charge more, they pass that cost along to the insurance companies, who in turn raise their rates.

It's simple math their genius.  Now add to that the fact that insurance companies will have to start issuing polices to people after they find out that they already have a huge, costly, expensive medical condition and guess what, insurance prices go up even more.

And blaming the "fat cat bankers" for the housing crisis is astoundingly ignorant.  Think about it einstien.  If you own a bank, would you loan money to someone who you were pretty sure wouldn't be able to pay it back?  Of course not, that would be stupid.  So, the only way you'd loan somebody like that money is if the government forced you to, citing some idiotic notion of social justice.

Now that your stuck with all this bad paper, you can either eat the cost yourself or try to sell it off.  Most decided to try to sell it off and minimize their losses.  Shazam.. a few years of this nonsense and you have the housing crisis, thanks almost entirely to Barney Frank and his fellow Dem's providing all sorts of cover for Freddie and Fanny and their ridiculously dangerous business practices.

So, do the world a favor, pull your head out of your ass, move out of your mom's basement and get a real job.  Then after a few years of paying outrageous amounts of the tax burden you might actually be somewhat qualified to speak on the subject.

If your that worried about someone else's healthcare or housing situation then crack open your own wallet and give them your own money for a change.  Keep your filthy mitts off of mine.

Ace,

You're missing the discussion about the upcoming peak in Alt-A and Option ARM loan rate resets that are going to cause a new peak in foreclosures like the sub-prime rate resets did.  These two loans are similar to subprimes and take advantage of people with poor income and credit.  If you're interested here is an article talking about it.
