— DrewM Well, I assume it's Andrew Sullivan, I mean you can never be too sure who is writing over there but this level of crazy seems right up Sully's lane so it's a safe bet it's him.
You see, St. Heartache is sick of the whole gosh darn mess over there so it's time to drop in some NATO troops (that's US in reality for those scoring at home) and impose a solution on those tiresome Israelis and Palestinians. (safe link to Commentary's website)
My own view is moving toward supporting a direct American military imposition of a two-state solution, with NATO troops on the borders of the new states of Palestine and Israel. I'm sick of having a great power like the US being dictated to in the conduct of its own foreign policy by an ally that provides almost no real benefit to the US, and more and more costs.
How exactly is the US having its foreign policy dictated to it by Israel? What are they going to do cut off their military aid to us and leave us to fend for ourselves in a part of the world where all our neighbors have tried to wipe us off the map on more than one occasion?
Oh wait, that's not an accurate portrayal of the US-Israeli power relationship.
Aside from the sheer lunacy of imposing borders on a sovereign democracy, which also happens to be a close ally, what in Sullivan's increasingly deranged mind makes him think the prospect of US soldiers fighting to keep Hamas, Hezbollah and the rest from attacking Israel is going to work? Does he really think these groups are just going to turn over their weapons to us or let us confiscate them without a fight?
You could go on for hours about why this is a nonsensical idea and the unending reasons why it wouldn't work.
The other day Sullivan actually wrote (safe link to the Google cache) "try thinking rather than just emoting. Which is easier said than done when blogging in real time."
All I can say to that is, try harder Andrew. Try harder.
On the upside, no one takes this lunatic seriously anymore. Unfortunately, this idiocy isn't simply the product of Andrew's feavered brain, it's something that's been floating around on the left for awhile. Below the fold, Samantha "Hillary Is A Monster" Power, now a member of Obama's NSC staff trotted it out back in 2002.

Remember that year-end deadline Obama gave Iran? Well, apparently that deadline expired before it went into effect:
Taking advantage of the ado surrounding the failed airliner bombing and the new prominence of the al Qaeda peril, the Obama administration has finally given up its sanctions strategy for averting the rise of a nuclear-armed Iran. US secretary of state Hillary Clinton was tasked with the public announcement: "The Obama administration wants to keep the door to dialogue open with Iran," she said Jan. 4, then added a remark which let Iran completely of the American hook: "Â…although the United States has avoided using the term deadline, it cannot wait indefinitely to hear form Iran."
Her words explicitly backtracked on statements by other senior administration officials, including National Security Adviser James Jones, in recent interviews that Tehran's deadline for responding to international proposals expired on Dec. 31. DEBKAfile's Iranian sources report that Tehran sees Washington as so eager to reach the negotiating table that it is falling back from effective penalties step by step, including an embargo on refined oils and benzene, and even willing to forgive Iran's failure to meet a highly publicized international deadline.

Completely off topic, but Gibb's in press conference when questioned about Obama breaking an explicit campaign promise to have health care reform debate/process televised on C-SPAN. Unbelievable! Gibbs is so fricking arrogant, and the reporter, Chip what's his name was actually pretty good trying to get an answer out of Beltway Bob who was incredibly snotty and dismissive. Chip even asked if it was true that it was in fact Obama who was pressing congress to skip reconciliation and encouraging the Dems not to be transparent. Here's the link from Hotair:

Almost no real benefit, except for intelligence on Muslim terrorists. And help in developing a missile-defense system. And the excellent reactive armor we use on our tanks and armored fighting vehicles. And the computer system used in the Bradley AFV. And the helmet used by the pilots of the F-16.
Oh, and antiship-missile defense systems. And the initial MOUT (military operations on urban terrain) training our troops got before Iraq. And the new smart mortar shell. And about 50 other things I can't think of off the top of my head.
Here's something that will make Andi gobsmackingly heartsick: We've learned so much about MOUT in Iraq that we built a training center for the IDF and stocked it with American instructors. That's why the IDF kicked terrorist ass to the moon during Operation Cast Lead in Gaza.
Hamas used every single trick in the Iraqi insurgent book, but the IDF countered every single one. The IDF lost only 13 men in a month of nonstop urban combat. It's one of the most impressive feats in military history.
And they did it thanks to us. Put that up your tailpipe and smoke it, Andi.

Your censorious attitude is what should not be accepted in a civilized political forum. A discussion of the appropriate way to bring about a final solution to the muslim/Pali problem is long overdue. And for clarity, I'm quite willing to endorse the irradication of the Palis should there ever be a cost effective way to do so. The world would be a better place.

What do you call a person who blows himself up along with women and children on a bus? This is their culture, St Christoph. The actual homocide bombers might be relatively few in number, but the entire lot of Palestinians support and foster these actions.
I consider them sub-humans because they do not behave like civilized humans. Normal people, for instance, don't lob grenades and fire missiles into Israeli neighborhoods to kill randomly just for fun.

Funny. The pressure comes almost 100 percent from the U.S. We forced Israel to not react when Saddam rained SCUDs on her; we forced Israel to accept the Oslo Accord; we forced Israel to stop the 2006 war with Hezbollah before she achieved decisive victory; we refused to sell Israel bunker-buster bombs, because we were afraid she'd attack Iran...
The list goes on and on. You anti-Israel dopes have it completely backwards. The U.S. controls Israel far more than Israel controls the U.S.

If the Palestinians want peace and an actual economy and a future, fucking with a powerful and technologically advanced neighbor like Israel is pretty suicidal. If they get wasted by being so stupid, then whose fault is it? I don't think that flattening Palestine is looked on favorably by many Israelis, who crave peace with their neighbors, but it they target Dimona or Tel Aviv or central Jerusalem, all bets are off.
The only way forward for Palestine is to have peaceful economic cooperation with Israel and to embrace the 21st century.

Maybe without genocide, but we sure did kill a hell of a lot of them. Were we to do that in the West Bank, Christoph, you would be shouting ringing denunciations.
Not every society is salvageable the way the Germans, the Italians, and the Japanese were. For one thing, the Palestinians are pawns of the regional Arab states, and will continue to be pawns even if we put a soldier on every street corner. There will be no letup in the bombs, mortars, and rockets for the simple reason that someone else is paying for it all. Could we fix things by occupying the entirety of the Middle East and brutally suppressing anyone who made a peep of protest, like the Romans did? Sure, but who would want to?
Also, the Germans, Italians, and Japanese of 1945 had more advanced civilizations than the Palestinians to today. It would take generations and trillions of dollars to root out enough pathologies that a Palestinian state would be anything more than what the Palestinian areas are today - the world's biggest welfare slum.

Christoph, honestly, tell me what you think of Jimbo's (that would be me) "peace plan" for the Middle East, and tell me of you think it's "genocidal".
Destroy their homeland, obliterate their culture, erase their cites and settlements invalidate all of their land claims (even if seeming legitimate in some cases) and then remove the ones in Gaza to Egypt and the ones on the West Bank into Jordan. The word "Palestinian" goes into the dustbin of history and no aspect of their culture is acknowledged is mentioned.

Fair question. I will answer.Islam is a dangerous threat to the world, and is the best designed religion ever for expansion and global domination for several reasons.
1, that is its goal. 2, it kills non-believers. 3, sex as a reward in heaven for angry mateless young men. And other reasons besides. You're smart. You could add several, some better.
That plan, while at the far extreme of what could be morally defensible, could possibly be justified in a war for survival of western civilisation against an intractable threat.
It's goal, however, is victory, and not to terminate the "Palis" as several commenters here have said is acceptable and desirable to them.

Suicide bombers who blow up innocents on buses, in dance clubs and pizza parlors are not an invading force in Israel? People who democratically elect the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah, both known terrorist organizations, and fund the people to carry out terrorist actions against Israel, don't count as an invading force? Christoph, show me a time that the Palis have not behaved in a manner typical of a barbarian savage. How many cease fires have been broken by rocket attacks into (random) civilian areas from hospitals and schools? How many suicide bombers have detonated themselves in buses, cafes and other public places? Show me where Hamas, Hezbollah and the PLO have offered to be the first to disarm or at the least, stop the violence. You have the stated, undisguised goal of those organizations with with majority support of the people in those territories, to "Drive Israel Into the Ocean" and wipe out every last citizen of that state. They are calling for genocide, yet I don't see any anger at "banning them from civil forums."
They are failing to be civilized. Israel has been quite civil in there response. Under Pax Romana, there would have been much harsher treatment, as 115 stated.

No. What makes you an anti-Israel dope is your stupid, uninformed, boilerplate talking point that Israel controls the U.S., when the reality is that the opposite is true.
Israel acts like an ally and also looks out for her own interests, just like we do. The attack on the Liberty is both anomalous and unclear. You describe it as part of a pattern, which it isn't, and an irrefutably deliberate attack, which is not true. It's unclear if it was deliberate.
All your talking points are false, which makes you either stupid or a liar.

It's this kind of "kinder, gentler" panty waist conservatism that is holding the movement back. People do not respect those who can't make the hard choices. You think I want to see mounds of charred children and long to drink blood? Sometimes the unpleasant choice is the right choice. The fact is that the tactic of simply trying to come to some agreement with the Palis is appeasement, plain and simple. Limited wars to reduce their fighting capability are of no use, as it will simply be rebuilt in time. The Palis have human intelligence (though degraded) and as a result will improve their methods over time. To do anything short of destroy them is to wait around for them to finally figure out how to kill enough people to get what they want. It's intolerable. The Israelis have shown super-human restraint - if the Mexicans were lobbing mortars into our border cities every damn day, blowing up schools and hospitals ON PURPOSE, we would, quite rightly, go in and wup ass. Thank God that the Mexicans are decent folk, on the whole, but if they weren't - if they were like the Palis - we'd have no peace until we killed them all. And we would be fully justified in doing so.
And wherestherum - I hope you don't mind recieving praise from an evil, nazi-like bastard like myself - but I have to say that any woman who can make a Charles "the Hammer Martel" reference is a truly fine specimen of feminity. The more of your posts I read the more impressed I am.

Thus, the solution seems to be for the IDF to pound this thought into them. The question is how many Dresden's have to occur before the Palestinians say "No more"? Given the cultural imperative towards suicide/martyrdom, I think this would be topping 50%.

The absolute proof that the U.S. controls Israel is the 2006 war with Hezbollah. We forced Israel to end the war before she had crushed Hezbollah, and then we forced her to sit by and watch Hezbollah rearm under the noses of the U.N. observers.
The anti-Israel idiots never acknowledge this. According to them, Israel is the evil (hook-nosed) puppet master, cackling horribly as she makes the U.S. dance. About five seconds of actual thought disproves this notion.

Look Christoph, no one here wants to see the Palestinians completely decimated; at least, no one in the comments have stated this. However, how long must Israel continue to put up with Palestinian bombs being launched into civilian population centers? How much longer should Israel have to sit back while the terrorist-infested government of the palestinian people keeps shouting "Death to Israel! Drive them into the sea!"?
Because from what I've seen from the Palestinians, Christoph, is that they would be just as happy as clams for GENOCIDE to happen upon the state of Israel, and the ONLY statements of pure genocidal tendencies come from the palestinian leaders, and not at all from Israel.

Was the attack on the USS Liberty an "accident?" I don't know, I wasn't there. I wasn't even born yet. But some members of the LBJ administration believed it to have been intentional, and most of the American servicemen aboard the USS Liberty who survived believed it was intentional.
And I have an acquaintance who is in the IDF reserve who also believes it was intentional, although he also believes it was "justified."
As an "ally," Israel doesn't actually do much for us. They take our money, buy our advanced weapons, spy on us, and allow us to veto resolutions against them at the UN.
What do they do for us? Very little.
I don't "hate" Israel, or wish them ill. And they can do what they want with the Palestinians, for all I care. I just don't want our country to be sucked into their battles. We can't afford it, and they frankly don't deserve it.

How come the Palistinians never try out that non-violent schtick? Hmmmm? How come dat?

While we are talking about nice Palestinians and Biblical references can I talk about the sweetest, nicest old man that I ever knew that was a former S.S. man and likely a Nazi War criminal?
He was Croatian SS, had the tattoo and had an awesome Luger and Nazi dagger collection, and really was the nicest old many I have ever met. It wasn't until many years after he died that I put two and two together and realized who he was, and likely what he did, before he found his way to America. He really hated Communists too.
My point is that we all come come up with a happy and benign face of evil story. That doesn't make the evil non-existent.

The Palestinians will not make peace with Israel until they come to that admission of being defeated. Japan admitted defeated only after we nuked a couple of their cities and burned most of the rest to ashes with vast amounts of napalm dropped by 1000-plane B29 raids. Germany admitted defeat when Allied (Soviet, American, British, etc) troops occupied Berlin and most of Germany after destroying most of the German armed forces. To date the Palestinians, homicidal bastards that they are, have been defeated only in relatively minor skirmishes; their allies in the US keep pulling them back from total victory for fear of offending our oil suppliers in Saudi Arabia. It is the Saudis, not the Joos, who really pull the strings of much of our foreign policy in that part of the world, at the expense of America doing what America has always done best, which is stand up for our fellow democracies. And if self-righteous a-holes like Christoph can't understand any of this, they can go pound themselves in the arse with a mace. Sideways.

Given the historical context, the biblical genocides were pretty justifiable in my view. The worshipers of baal, for example, sacrificed infants on what amounted to a big griddle - they didn't even get a quick death, but rather roasted slowly. A culture of child murderers is best exterminated, to cleanse the earth of its toxic presence.
So, too, with the Palis in the M.E. The rates of child abuse and child murder are horrific - beyond any other known culture. A small nugget from a relevant article:
The physical battering of both girls and boys from birth for small misdemeanors is widespread throughout Muslim societies... A typical report of Islamic cultures says, "A large number of children face some form of physical abuse, from infanticide and abandonment of babies, to beating, shaking, burning, cutting, poisoning, holding underwater or giving drugs or alcohol, or violent acts like punching, kicking, biting, choking, beating, shooting, or stabbing." Islamic schools regularly practice severe corporal punishment. "Honor killings" of girls who are blamed for their own and others' sexual abuse are said to be widespread in Palestine. All this routine child abuse is said by most academic scholars to have no effect upon the adults in the society.

The Palis have a 100% effective solution to the issue of Israelis killing them:
Every time the Palis have stopped shooting at Jews, the Jews have stopped shooting at them. They possess the key to the cage they have locked themselves into ... all they have to do to put it in the lock and turn it is to stop trying to kill all the Jews.

Through actions and through inexhaustible rhetoric, for decades on end the leaders of the 'Palestinian People' have threatened the population of Israel. Called for the global eradication of the Jewish people.
Sacrificed the children of their citizens to this cause.
Hidden their fighters and weapons behind their women and children.
Entered into treaty after treaty, armistice after armistice, and cease-fire after cease-fire with the sole intention of betraying their word and waging war against innocents.
All the while, holding the free world accountable for the misery they, themselves, impose upon their citizens.

Open and frank discussion of a serious topic is another matter, and not necessaryily ban-worthy. Naturally, I can't complain if Ace decides my banning is in order.
Here's my question - do the anti-genocide types have a sound line of moral reasoning to oppose it in the case of the Palis? I have a very clear line of logic to point out why the genocides carried out by Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and others were wrong. And it wasn't simply because they tried to wipe out a definable subset of folks. It's because those subsets of folks were generally decent people, as opposed to a mob of bloody minded savages. The Jews were damn good German citizens. The Ukranians' were not natural enemies of the Russian people. Etc.

No, I just believe the people who were actually there, and not the media. Kinda like during John F. Kerry's campaign in 2004. At least one of his purple hearts was for a self-inflicted wound, according to the people who were there.
Is that a "conspiracy theory," or just taking the word of the people who were actually there, instead of ingesting the propaganda of the mainstream media?

Unfortunately there seems to be some truth to this one. It's been admitted by the guy who ran the project at Abu Kabir forensic institute and confirmed by the Israeli military.
They were apparently harvesting things like corneas and skin from bodies of Israeli soldiers, terrorists, and dead civilians without permission from the families. There's no evidence anybody was actually killed for his organs, but they weren't exactly following commonly accepted protocols for organ donation.

The definition of "Saracens" is rather slippery, but is usually used in modern times to refer to Arabic pirates that attacked Italy a couple of centuries later. I doubt you'll find it used to refer to the Ummayyads anywhere.
Considering that most people these days only know Muslims as Muslims, I just like throwing out other names for them. Saracens. Moors. Mohammedans. Musselmen. Wiki (yeah I know) acknowledges that Saracen can be used for all Muslims, including non-Arabic ones.
So I just have a BA in History. But my areas of study were the ME, Jewish history and Medieval history.

It's still a deliberate distortion of the truth--the insinuation is that Israel murdered people for their organs.
The Paulbots love this kind of game--say something true that implies something false. Like saying the dollar has lost 95% of its value, implying that Americans are 95% poorer.
Posted by: Ken at January 06, 2010 04:49 PM (vwg/7)
No, I just believe the people who were actually there, and not the media.
You also believe that Israel harvested organs from dead Palestinians, and to prove it you linked to an article that didn't say that.
You're not the sharpest knife in the anti-Israel drawer, are you?

They probably do. We spy on our allies as well. Heck, R. James Woolsey admitted it in the Wall St. Journal ten years ago - March 17, 2000.

But, serious question:
If Israel spying on the United States endlessly doesn't upset you...
If Israel killing 33 American servicemen and 1 civilian, and injuring nearly 200 others, on a ship in international waters, doesn't bother you...
If billions of our tax dollars going to build up the military of a foreign country with nuclear weapons doesn't bother you...
...
Then what could Israel possibly do that would bother you enough to, you know, mildly criticize it, like I did in this thread (please re-read post #213)?
Just wondering. Have a good night.

Israel also knew about the 9/11 plot but didn't warn us. Knew about it or planned it -- one of the two, can't remember which.
And Israel also knew about Bill Belichick's spying but never told anyone in the NFL.

Unfortunately there seems to be some truth to this one. It's been admitted by the guy who ran the project at Abu Kabir forensic institute and confirmed by the Israeli military.
It's called "presumed consent." Most of western Europe does it, and the UK is about to adopt it. No horrible Jewish death-fetish here; it's what leftist countries do.

It's actually a reasonable and defensible practice from a medical perspective, considering the sheer volume of people who need organs and the relatively few who actively consent in the U.S. Not to be too goulish, but it seems insanely selfish to deny someone else something you no longer need.

Here's something I found concerning the USS Liberty. Yes, it's a document from the Jewish Virtual Library so it probably has it's biases, but it makes a pretty good case that the attack on the USS Liberty was an accident. From what you've posted, somebody might think that Israel just decided to attack the USS Liberty out of the blue instead of an unfortunate accident occurring in the midst of the Six Day War. You know, that war in which Israel would probably have been destroyed by the Egyptians and about 5 other armies had they not acted when they did?

I imagine the term got swept up when identity politics and multi-culti crap was gaining ground. Someone, who probably wasn't Oriental, decided it was racist or whatever and banned it.

Well. The US army arrived at the Mittelwerk V-2 factory we found a gold mine of rockets and rocket engines in various stages of construction, which when assembled comprised 100 V-2 rockets. The area was slated to go to the Brits, and per agreement the US was supposed to leave all that stuff there.
Of course we didn't turn the area over to our allies until after everything was safely boxed up and transported to US soil. The Brits were able to piece together enough spare parts to get a rocket working eventually, but
between the parts and the scientists we took they were almost ten years behind us by the time the dust settled.

For all your posts, I've yet to see one that offers a logical reason to avoid that admittedly extreme and regrettable necessity. Islam is perpetually at war with every non-muslim group that is around it. As we speak the Iraqis are working to exterminate or expell the Christians in their land - and those are the muslims we've pacified! I live in southern Michigan, and it's becoming ever more widely known that the muslims in places like Dearborn are creating no-go zones. The war is on its way here.

Until 2004, that is. Iraq took the top spot then. The amount of aid we give to Israel and Egypt has been declining in recent years, with aid to South Asia and Africa increasing.
There are also a number of different types of foreign aid: economic, development, humanitarian, bilateral, military to name a few. Israel gets quite a bit of military aid, and spends about 75% of it buying weapons from US companies.

They are eager to accept the "explanations" of that foreign country for killing 34 Americans and injuring another 171 in an attack on a research vessel in international waters that the American servicemen WHO WERE ACTUALLY THERE believe was deliberate.
They have no problem with that foreign country harvesting the organs of dead civilians without their permission.
They have no problem sending billions of their tax dollars to fund the military of a country that already has atomic weapons and is not in any serious danger of being invaded, despite a 1.4 trillion dollar budget deficit.
In fact, they denounce any and all critics of this foreign country as "anti-Semitic Nazi idiots who need to die."

I don't believe "presumed consent" is a feature of Israeli law. In any event the residents of Gaza and the West Bank aren't Israelis. I'm sympathetic to the "presumed consent" angle when it comes to Israeli soldiers if that's the legal environment (like I said, I don't think that's true). But they really don't have any business parting out Palestinians without getting permission from the families, any more than we should be doing the same with Iraqis.

Wow, the levels of ignorance just go above and beyond here. The whole point of establishing a Jewish state was for somewhere for the Jews to go because of the anti-Semitic violence running through Europe at the time. (Russian pales mean anything to you? And I don't mean their pasty whiteness. Presumably "beyond the pale" as has been used here, refers to going beyond even where the Jews were forced to live in Russia. But I digress.) And the land of Israel was only one of the many places considered to create such a nation.
Israel was created as an escape from violence and hatred for the Jews. Historically they are one of the most persecuted people all over the world. Everyone hates the Jews. The Law of Return was established for that very reason.

American conservatives in 2010 strongly support a foreign county (Israel) that actively spies on the United States.
There are no permanent allies, only permanent interests. We probably spy on Israel too, and such will always be the case between nations. Are you suggesting they spy on us to pass it on to our enemies?
They are eager to accept the "explanations" of that foreign country for killing 34 Americans and injuring another 171 in an attack on a research vessel in international waters that the American servicemen WHO WERE ACTUALLY THERE believe was deliberate.
Because the people on the USS Liberty had intercepted all the transmissions because the Israelis and knew immediately that it was deliberate and not being an unfortunate consequence of being, I don't know, in a warzone?
They have no problem with that foreign country harvesting the organs of dead civilians without their permission.
Already answered.

Um, I was told this by an Israeli professor who was pro-Israel. It may be later on they allowed survivors to come in, but she said the general attitude was that the Jews living in the yet to become Israel looked down on Holocaust survivors because they went willingly to their slaughter. I'm just repeating what she said. If you want her name and all that I can give it to you. She works with a well known Holocaust survivor who is also a professor.

You haven't presented one. Not one. All you've presented are assertions.
Here's a hint, shitbrick. You saying that servicemen present on the USS Liberty thought the attack was deliberate does not in fact make it a deliberate attack. You coming up with cast-iron verified quotes from servicemen present on the USS Liberty who the attack was deliberate does not in fact make it a deliberate attack. You would have to come up with a very convincing case why they think it was deliberate. You would then have to come up with a very convincing case why Israel would in fact choose to attack the Liberty. When I challenged you on this point before, you told me I should think of my own reason. That's not a very convincing fact you presented, and only makes me think you're talking out of your ass, like the clueless deranged illogical shrieking dumbfuck conspiracy theorist pile of shit you are.

Russia was forgiven for blowing up a Korean airliner full of civilians. America was forgiven for shooting down an Iranian airliner full of civilians. Israel will never be forgiven for attacking the USS Liberty. Okay.
America can spy on every country including allies and that's okay. Israel spies on America, and that's just wrong. I wonder what the difference is.
Russia, a nuclear power because that seems important to you, recieved billions of dollars in aid from America in the 90's, as did Pakistan, also nuclear armed. As soon as Israel gets money, you start bitching. Why is that?

As a result of these different understandings of the Jewish state, many sabras and immigrants who had lived in Eretz Yisrael for some time were not accepting of the survivors, especially as a group, even though Holocaust survivors were precisely the people many supporters of Zionism had in mind when calling for the formation of the Jewish state. The sabras and long-time immigrants' reluctance to accept the survivors stemmed from the belief that the Holocaust proved that Jews could not survive outside of Eretz Yisrael.

It was a tongue in cheek comparison.
It does apply as you are relying on a distinction between living and dead bodies.
As such, a living body = meat+soul. (A married couple is a sufficiently analagous example.)
In your argument you implied tacit consent is acceptible once death occurs. I tend to think of tacit consent as a tool for the State to encroach on Personal Liberty.

You may be thinking about the British, who refused entry to Holocaust survivors. Beginning in 1949 the Jewish state embarked on a three-year crash program to find and bring to Israel as many Holocaust survivors as possible.
And on the 60th anniversary of the founding of Israel, the government saluted its founders, "Holocaust survivors and illegal immigrants."
Israel never had a policy of turning away Holocaust survivors as "sheep who willingly went to slaughter." Even if your Israeli prof said so, it's not true. There are plenty of anti-Israeli Israelis who say amazingly deranged things about the country. For some reason the mere existence of Israel has driven millions or even billions of people stark raving mad.

Many of those were rooted out over the years, but a small handful made their way into fairly high station. Some speculate that the (erroneous) intelligence idea of "the concept" many in the government were buying into (preceding the 74' war) might have been birthed and sold by Soviet plants. The theory isn't completely outlandish, since the Soviets were staged and ready to push Egypt over the top for a win. Had Nixon not threatened the Soviets with a nuclear war, the whole scheme might have worked.

For some reason, American Jews seem convinced that the real threat is SCARY CHRISTIANS! That All of America outside Manhattan, the Catskills, and Los Angeles is a mass of seething Klansmen.

I only say that because philosophically, I tend toward utilitarianism. Just a bit. It's my belief in a soul that makes me more utilitarian on this particular issue. If the soul is what makes us who and what we are, then the meat we leave behind is essentially meaningless so there's no reason we should assume possession of that vessel once we're dead.
That being said, I don't necessarily think implied consent is completely okay, since our bodies do not belong to the government or the medical community. However, I can see and sympathize with the arguments of those who would like to see more organs available for donation.

Nixon never got much credit for holding the Soviets at bay during that one and buying Israel the time to engineer a win. That ballsy move really reshaped the middle east compelling Sadat to reevaluate his position and the Soviet level of commitment to him. It also resulted in Egypt ultimately falling out of the Soviet sphere of influence and (nominally) into the US's.

My orthodox friends think the reformed ones are mostly suicidal loons who just barely qualify as "jewish".

You call for genocide against people, some of whom I know. It's a disgusting, vicious thought, and I'd say you should feel shame, but you're probably incapable of it.
You are an extreme, murderous bitch to write such a thing. To say the least, I and any half decent person disagrees.
To those that don't disagree, see above.

How many chances are to be given to a people to stop acting like fucking savages from the stone age, and join the rest of us in civilization. When one group of sub-human shit keeps sending death and destruction to a neighbor who is not sub human shit, I am reaching the point that I might even agree on dropping a few big bombs to calm them the fuck down. If that makes your pussy hurt, tough shit. Call me all the names you want, crybaby. Half the reason the world is in the state it is now is because the civilized countries that SHOULD be cleaning up some of these despotic bastards are too mire in leftist weakness to do so.

"Going Terminator" was vague, and it implied the eradication of everybody.
I can see where "Terminator" would, instead, imply the eradication of specific targets, like the Hamas structure.
Christoph is in agreement with Ace consensus that the Palestinians and Israelis both would be better off with a few hundreds less Palestinians, specifically the assholes in Hamas. So there's not even a fundamental argument here. (It's not like he even mentioned the book of Numbers until several dozen comments.)
But because it was Christoph saying it, and because of the way he said it... it's another Ace Pile-On.
Lesson for Christoph: just ask "uh, what do you mean by that expression" before going immediately on the attack.
Lesson for the commentariat: dude, it's Christoph. He's excitable. And what he says is not going to cost you anything. Relax.

Good lesson. I'll think about that because, conceivably, I could have been wrong about di butler even though it was the expression "Palis" combined with "Terminator" that set me off.
Yet later in the discussion, there were some commenters who then expressly stated they supported genocide of the Palestinians and, in 1 case, Muslims as well.

Homicide is killing a human. Anyone, for any reason. Most of the time it is bad, but there are reasons which can justify it in particular cases, which is why there are separate legal definitions for murder, manslaughter, and justifiable homicide.
Genocide is killing an entire ethnic group, or at least enough members thereof to significantly reduce the total population. To say genocide is absolutely and invariably evil is really equivalent to saying the following:
There is no possible case, hypothetically or in reality, in which a multiple homicide, whose victims are even incidentally of a common ethnicity, can be ruled justifiable.
And that is not at all difficult to prove to be completely irrational. All that is necessary is to provide an example of one or more mechanisms that would cause a distinct ethnic group to:
a) band together by themselves-- the fact that they are racially homogeneous is then their choice.
b) act belligerently and start a war-- other people have to defend themselves, it is not their problem that the attackers happen to be a whole tribe.
c) exhibit such fanaticism as to deny all reasonable attempts to force surrender without killing everyone. -- putting the most drastic options on the table for the defense.
d) Teach all levels of their society including women and very young children to hold a grudge. -- making anything less than drastic ultimately ineffective.
If A, B, C, and D are not impossible, then it is irrational to say that genocide is in all cases invariably absolutely evil.
It is only evil most of the time, making allowances for the outside chance you run into a fanatically belligerent bunch of tribalists with vendetta issues.

You obviously can't read. Or won't read. Whichever.
There is not one post on this thread where I support the Palestinians in Jihad. I even talked about very blunt pro-Israel conversations I've had with some of the Palestinians I personally know.
I talked about military action against Palestinian terrorists, and willingness to accept large collateral damage if need be.
I talked of the plan of essentially reshaping Palestinian culture by defeating their forces, such as they are, and imposing western (Israeli in this case) will on them, dissuading them from further aggression by the catastrophe of the defeat imposed on them.
All of these things are easily discernible by what I wrote on these threads, to anyone with a 6th grade reading level.
Zimriel managed to get this. tangonine didn't.
Zimriel seems to be well in control of his emotions. I can lose control of my emotions in a moment of passion, but still keep control of my mind and recognize logical points by myself and others.
You and the majority of commenters who bashed me on this thread both lose control of your emotions and then cannot recognize logical points.

Frankly, this is taking the old British position prior to the 1948 UN partitioning, with the NATO (read US) playing the part previously done by the British so badly.
Besides, just as “Excitable Andy” grew tired of the Iraq War, he will eventually abandon this position as well.

I doubt you'll read this, but then again, you don't seem to be reading with comprehension anyway. I never said Israel controls the U.S. I said that it puts, to my mind, too much pressure on the U.S. The proof of that is the fact that (1) it can attack a U.S. vessel and kill U.S. sailors with impunity (read the words of the sailors themselves, and tell me what's "unclear" about them), and (2) it can continually, aggressively spy on the U.S. while (3) receiving more $$ from the U.S. than any other country.
Posted by: odys at January 07, 2010 03:59 AM (1ICJZ)
Heh, both you and Eye-rish seemingly can't put together a sentence without resorting to name-calling. Just like kindergarten...
Anyway, if someone were to claim that Hezbollah is U.S.'s greatest ally in the Middle East, you can bet that I would bring up the attack on U.S. marines. In the same fashion, when you say that Israel is an ally, I bring up the fact that it spies on us and is on record as attacking a U.S. vessel - it wasn't just a single stray rocket, either. Israelis attacked USS Liberty repeatedly, with clear intention to sink the ship. Read what the sailors themselves had to say about the attack.

Does she look like a mad bomber to anyone else? The hand gestures, the canted neck, that really creepy-psychotic part in her hair. The fearful/flirtatious eye contact.
Then you find out she is married to Cass Sunstein!
Can you say William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn? I think you can.
Posted by: Grant at January 07, 2010 04:58 AM (qltgY)
Your problem is that, for some reason you don't (or more likely can't) explain, you think that defines the entire relationship. Something every nation does and an accidental attack are, to you, the only important incidents to ever occur between Israel and the US.
Posted by: Waterhouse at January 07, 2010 05:32 AM (YLnnA)
Getting your talking points from Stormfront is not a good idea. A couple things for you to try and understand: firstly, this ain't Vanguard. Secondly, there were responses to your "talking points" that you chose to ignore, thus making it painfully obvious you neither knew nor cared to know what "really happened".

I never said that it defines the whole relationship. The question is really this: would Israel be any less of an ally if it simply stopped spying on us? If not, then why do 90% of the people here throw hissy fits and start name-calling whenever Israeli spying is brought up?
Posted by: odys at January 07, 2010 06:26 AM (1ICJZ)
Oh, that would actually clear the Zionists?
Hmmmm....Can we then say it was inside-inside job? Like, the USS LIBeRtY! was in fact a Zionist vessel purchased with USAID! and disguised as a U.S ship using data gained by AIPAC! sponsored Mossad spying, in order to create a false flag bombing event which would distract the World from the real global domination schemes of the Zionist money making machine? Madoff anyone? Wink Wink!

The best defense of Israeli spying that people here seem to be able to come up with is that "everyone does it" or that "Israel should do it if it wants to win". In other words, it's OK to spy on America. If that's your response, then I rest my case.
EOT for me - if all you guys got is that Israel can do no wrong and all who criticize it are Arab-loving nazis, I only wonder what you are still doing in the U.S....

Heh, OK, one last time: Israel spies on us quite a bit more than any other ally, and also more than most enemies. I obviously don't have the inside knowledge to cite chapter and verse, but I do know that Fox News did an extensive story on this - is Fox News a bunch of nazis as well? I'm not saying we should drop supporting Israel - I'm saying that if they want our help, they should be fair and square with us. If you adopt the stance that another country can do whatever it wants with you because it's an "ally" then sooner or later that country will start taking unfair advantage.
Also, drop the Stormfront shit. I am willing to bet that my family has done more to fight the nazis in Europe during WWII than you and yours could possibly imagine. I don't call you names, extend me the same courtesy.

Actually, I got the quotes from a website maintained by two gentlemen: Jim Ennes, a retired career Naval Officer and a survivor of the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty; and Joe Meadors, another survivor of the attack. Meadors was one of the eyewitnesses who saw the Israelis machine-gunning the USS Liberty's life rafts, which happens to be, you know, a war crime.
Now for a lesson in basic logic: Just because you found some of the quotes I cited on alleged "neo-Nazi" or "Islamist" websites (or so you claim) does not change the fact that the quotes are real, nor does it somehow discredit the individuals who were quoted. For instance, if a neo-Nazi were to quote something that Thomas Jefferson wrote, that does not mean that Thomas Jefferson didn't really write it, nor does it mean Thomas Jefferson was a genocidal anti-Semite.
You know, ignoring all facts and debating exclusively via logical fallacies and defamatory smears tends to be something that leftists do. I don't expect it out of conservatives, as we tend to be more fact-oriented.
