Another Day, Another Poll Showing 70% Of Americans Are Racist, Islamophobes

Given that the polling is pretty consistent on this issue, shouldn't the MFM start calling Obama, Bloomberg and other supporters of the Ground Zero Victory mosque "fringe elements" and "a tiny minority"?

A poll released Tuesday found 71 percent of New Yorkers want the developers of an Islamic center and mosque near ground zero to voluntarily move the project.
The Quinnipiac University poll finds the same percentage of New Yorkers want Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to investigate sources of funding for the project in lower Manhattan.
Cuomo, a Democrat running for governor, has said little about the issue. He says it's protected by the Constitution, although he will investigate if concerns are found.
The poll finds 53 percent of registered voters feel the Muslim developers shouldn't be allowed to build a couple blocks from ground zero. Yet about the same share says they have a right to.

Obviously, just because 70% of people think something doesn't mean they are right. Still, you'd think the fringe minority element would take a moment to reflect and consider why they are so far outside the American mainstream. They never do because in this case the 'wackos' are the self anointed arbiters of "right thinking" and morality. Sure less than 30% agree with them but as long as it's the right 30% and they are in it together, then they are the holders of wisdom and the masses just don't get it.

Funny how 20% who think Obama is a Muslim* shows a dangerous rise in the number of lunatics in the country but 29%? Oh, well, that's an important sector of the American public who must be listened to and celebrated.

Two strange stories that are related enough:

The FBI actually has to defend itself from CAIR types for having the temerity to invite Robert Spencer to speak to a terrorism task force.

*Just to be clear, no, I don't think Obama is a Muslim.

I once had the misfortune of attending a NYC city council meeting where hearings were being held for outdoor permits for restaurants. It was mind-blowing. I recall these two young Irish guys with a cafe trying to get 5 outdoor tables. Aligned against them were a passel of neighborhood "groups," a screaming banshee who had some affiliation with the storefront church next door railing against the corruption of the neighborhood's youth by being witness to the nefarious evils of open-air imbibing, people screaming at the top of their lungs that the cafe's delivery guy had leaned his bike against their fence. I've probably never seen anything like it. The two Irish dudes were dumbfounded, absolutely shell-shocked.

I think back to that event, and realize that this mosque probably has gotten less governmental scrutiny than two guys wanting to serve Guinness on the sidewalk.

48 This is one of the best sources of info regarding Cordoba Project mosque that I have seen. It says that their website has been sanitized to hide info. I have a screen capture from Aug 15, and sure enough it went down the memory hole. So I went to Google and also Bing to see the cache version. It is gone from their servers too. If anybody is interested, I have uploaded the pdf of my screen capture here. The pdf shows that Imam Rauf was the convened and chaired the very first meeting of Cordoba Project in August 2006 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In my opinion, Imam Rauf is a VERY well connected individual who travels amongst the highest levels of governments and NGO's. He is no ordinary clergy-person. He has the blessing of our president, the UN, Council for Foreign Relations, international bankers, and the Umma. It is also my opinion that Mayor Bloomberg wants access if now outright control of the ground floor of Sharia compliant banking system and petrodollars. He didn't purchase his election for $30 million dollars of his own money for nothing. As for me, I care not if Obama is Muslim. That is speculation.
