Being from West Virginia there is an excellent chance Manchin is a hunter. He shows familiarity with weapons and their use. (It's the little things like the easy way he handles a cartridge with out fumbling it, advances the bolt with the heel of the hand, the sharp quick opening of the bolt to insure case extraction, these are the kinds of things that show up people who have never handled weapons before.)

The form for bringing the weapon up and firing are both good and at the range that he is firing at it would be imposible to miss. Not saying that the shot shown hitting the document is the same one he fired, but any deer hunter could easily have pulled off that bit handily.

I'm not a big fan of NRA's pro-incumbent stance when it favors Dems, especially when we're talking about who gets to confirm judges, but it makes at least sense to rate someone with higher political office and a consistent record better than a person who has only held lower office.  THe pressure to bend left increases as power gets increased.  That's why the Senate is full of squishes.

The endorsement does little harm, and it allows NRA to say, "Hey, we are non-partisan, see?  We endorsed Munchkin" (or whatever the fuck his name is)

Hell, I can't even remember all the places I attended school. Three different places in California alone, of which I can remember Edwards. I remember going to school in Wheatland (north Cal.) and Victorville. I did not like California, the land is great, the people, well, not so much.

The reason that the only freedom the Dems haven't gone after the last 2 years is guns is because the NRA has wide bipartisan clout. If you're good on guns, you get their endorsement. Oh, and voting records beat words for them too. Which is why incumbents often have an advantage. Harry Reid, for example, sucks on everything but guns. Is he really pro-gun? Maybe, or he's terrified the NRA will endorse his opponent. Either way, Reid has bottled up a lot of anti-gun legislation. That means something to me. By making guns something that both parties support, the NRA has completely stopped the gun control Congress. Which leaves room for groups like SAF to counterattack through the courts.

Maybe instead of hating the NRA for winning, you should see if other conservative groups can imitate their success. What if the Club for Growth had the clout the NRA does?

So you would vote for Harry Reid?  If not, why not as a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment? Could it be because he would put judges on the federal benches who would be happy to take away your 2nd amendment rights?  

Again, all things being equal in regard to a candidate's 2nd amendment support, any gun rights advocate would be remiss if they did not support the Republican candidate whose party is an advocate for the 2nd amendment as opposed to the Democrats who are an advocate to limit the 2nd amendment.

Reid is the majority leader. He is not just another Senator. He has more power. If he goes down the Senate Dems will pick a new leader. Who wants that job? Dick Durbin ("American troops are Nazis") or Charles Schumer will probably end up with it. Now maybe Reid is as bad as Schumer. But Durbin is a loathsome piece of slime. I'd rather Reid be there with control then Durbin. They both come from liberal states, and they can both urge massive new gun control with complete safety.

However, I think the GOP has a legit chance to take the Senate. Certainly we will have the ability to filibuster. So yes, I hope Reid does lose. I risk a lot with this, you understand. The lame duck session would be the time a bunch of defeated Dems go full crazy and try to pass an Assault Weapons Ban II or a federal registry before they slink back to their holes.
