Another Stupak Dem Flips "No"
— Gabriel Malor

Via the Weekly Standard, Illinois Dem Dan Lipinski says it's not gonna happen:

Asked if the congressman is "open to voting for a health care bill that lacks the Stupak amendment," Lipinski's spokesman Nathaniel Zimmer replied in an email to THE WEEKLY STANDARD: "No. Congressman Lipinski will not vote for a health care bill that provides federal funding for abortion."

In addition to Stupak and Lipinski, Congressman Jim Oberstar of Minnesota has said that he will not vote for the health care bill if it lacks the Stupak amendment: "I will not vote for a health care bill that doesn't have the House abortion language in it," Oberstar told Congressional Quarterly on February 24.

By my count, if even two House Dems switch their yes votes to no, Pelosi can't get to 216 (217, if Massa actually rescinds his resignation). Stupak has already said he won't be the guy. And Ace noted at few others last week.

Nomentum was released this year.
You have to wait for next years Oscars.

I think they are considering bringing back the Best Original Musical or Comedy Score category just for Nomentum. The new musical subplot includes a nifty song called Springtime For Cheney

Unless she gets a bunch of previous no's to vote yes. An unknown number of those no's were "allowed" to vote no but wanted it to pass.

51 I continue to be staggered by the ideological zeal of Obama and Pelosi. She can't dump the funding for abortion to save the bill? It's a frakkin' $400 procedure.

As a cold-blooded reich winger, I consider federally-funded $400 abortions as an excellent investment in keeping the population of criminals and welfare queens down. But I doubt that's Nancy's reason. So I have to say, WTF?

52 - Pelosi can't change anything about the Senate bill right now.  Using the ram-it-reconciliation method of bill approval, the Senate HC bill must be passed exactly as it passed the Senate.  Then they can make changes to it.  But at that point, why would they?  Once it's passed, it's passed.

House Dems need to get it hammered home to them that whatever is in the Senate bill is what the final bill will be, end of story.  There won't be any more bribes needed or paid off at that point.

Not holding my breath personally, even on the supposed "no" votes.  I'm sure if Pelosi and the rest of the Soprano's can find any leverage at all, at this point even threating their families, they'll still be able to flip back to yes and then make some lame statement about how they did it because they were assured that the Stupak language would be put back in reconciliation.

Not that it could be of course, since all it's supposed to be used for is budgetary items, but considering how many rules the Dems seem willing to break for this monstrosity who knows.

And if they do get this passed, well Welcome to the worlds newest bannana republic.
