I don't know, cutting checks really sucks. I say come September, do a mock tax return and make sure you are on track for either zero owed or a very slight refund, and then make the necessary adjustment from there. Just my opinion.

A good thought subject for the morons this morning while waiting on the Top Headlines to come in.  Over the past several months the SC Legislature has passed a bill that would allow SC police to enter peopleÂ’s homes without a warrant under provisions of a parole agreement.  They passed this bill and Gov Sanford vetoed it.   They appear to be poised to override the veto (something they have done quite often under his administration).

I expect the state lotteries to dramatically change under O'Fartface.  Winnings will no longer be taxed at the earned income rate and of course the AMT, but will be subjected to a suplementary "Lucky in Life's Lottery" tax. 

This tax is  applicable to those who draw the winning numbers but are only entitled to 30% of the winnings.  The other 70% will be held in O'Fartface's 'stash' to purchase the loyalty of wavering citizens who were considering voting for what's best for country but instead whored out for a few bucks.

Mama AJ. My parents in their retirement bought about 20 houses as rental properties. They had tons of experience because they had moved and bought 35 times before they retired. They sold a lot of them to the renters even taking back second mortages to help them buy.

Anyway, put a spiral in your car or a pda and record every single mile you drive to your rental and every single mile you drive to anywhere having anything to do with your rental;  home depot, lease signings, etc.  Those miles add up and give a nice deduction. Keep every receipt and since you have a rental now you can deduct a portion of your computer depreciation, phone,  and various other costs too.

It's funny, it's a few hours from my mom's house, but driving past it to get to her place would add about 10 hours to the trip. Probably not worth it for the milage!

I still don't even know if I want to sell it or keep renting it. The market was so bad that we had to rent it for less than we are paying for it each month. Hard to take a long term view when the short term hurts so much.
