— Dave in Texas Gov. Jan "Oh No You Din't" Brewer just filed the brief.
PHOENIX -- A federal ruling blocking portions of Arizona's controversial immigration law "has caused irreparable harm" to the state's residents, Gov. Jan Brewer said Thursday in announcing her plans to file a legal brief later in the day in opposing the ruling.Brewer wants the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco to reverse the ruling U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton made last month.
I don't think she'll stop at the 9th if they say no either.
Brief here.

Let me put it this way, it's also known as the Ninth Circus. It's the circuit that has the most overturned decisions by the Supreme Court.
Yeah, this is going all the way up.

From the WSJ 2.2009
Opponents of the fence have petitioned the Obama administration to halt construction. Environmentalists are demanding a top-level review of the route, which they say would block such rare species as the ocelot from critical habitat. Property owners are contesting federal seizure of their land. Engineers are struggling to address flooding concerns.
And all the while, drug smugglers and illegal immigrants continue to breach the fencing that is up...Posted by: Atomic Roach at August 26, 2010 05:10 PM (rMMMP)

Of course, they started that crap about a year ago. The Feds demanded that the Maricopa County Sheriff's Dept hand over "all documents that might show a pattern of racial profiling." Joe didn't hand anything over, and said "What specifically do you want?"
So the feds are threatening to sue unless Joe agrees to a colonoscopy.

111 Metro from arlington to the mall is perfectly safe. Don't worry about it. Just stay off the green line and don't go past eastern market on the red. You have no reason to so I can't imagine that you would. Otherwise, you'll be fine. Also, it's gonna be hot and humid. Make sure you have serious amounts of water. There will be places to buy it but it will be $5 a bottle. You might want an umbrella for sun.
Get off the metro in Rosslyn and walk across the bridge. It's half as far as getting off at smithsonian or fed triangle.

Jan is probably feeling her oats because he just received 66% more votes for governor than were cast for all Democratic candidates for governor. That's right, she received 404,000 votes. Meanwhile, total Dem votes in the primary, about 246,000. Total votes cast in Republican primary were double those cast by Dems (about 500K to 245K)
I was an inspector and troubleshooter on Tues. I noticed the huge discrepancy in Republican ballots used and Dem ballots used almost immediately. In districts with few Hispanics voters the vote was almost 3 to 1 Republican

Self-incrimination is exposing yourself to criminal penalties. You have no protection against being forced to provide evidence that could lead to CIVIL liability. Indeed, parties call eachother as hostile witnesses in civil court all the time.

Holder filed the suit in the wrong court to begin with. The Constitution is pretty clear about this. In conflicts with the states, only SCOTUS has jurisdiction.
I can't fig out why nobody challenges the filing place. It was never Bolton's case to hear...nor the 9th's...geezus. Surprised Holder didn't file it in Mexico.

SCOTUS has 'original jurisdiction' - Does not mean that they get to hear it first.
/s
Brewer's only response should have been to request that the Court (Bolton) dismiss for lack of jurisdiction (not entertaining them further), having lost, the next step would have been directing her Senators to introduce impeachment hearings against the judge, Holder, and Obama while simultaneously requesting SCOTUS to the three's chain and proceeding with the State's law.
Oh, and slap a GPS on Bolton's car and put three tails, a mobile body scanner, and UAV on her 24-7 now that it is all nice and legal.
