At the Bielat Shoot
Ad Up!

— Ace

This is some really crappy video I took (with my awful soon-to-be-ex-phone) of Ladd Ehlinger Jr. directing the dancer in the upcoming Barney Frank video (which will be released at 5:00).

He's half-turned to me there because he's viewing the camera's output on a monitor.

Original Video - More videos at TinyPic

As I mentioned, the NYT was there, doing a story on political advertising, and that story has been picked up by ABCNews, which will be running a feature tonight, too. Maybe even Inside Edition.

Oh: Here's that NYT article.

Vid Up:

I dig it. I really wanted a "read to roll the dice on subsidized housing, r-r-r-roll the dice, r-r-r-roll the dice" part. That said, there is a longer version coming (and a shorter one for tv), so maybe in that.

Actually they were looking for another "macaca" moment where the MFM would take a non-word and somehow turn it into the most grievous racial slur since reconstruction.

The problem for them was that tactic has been overused, just like the race card and the gay card. Bwarney hasn't woke up to the new card yet.

He needed to provoke some small mention of Islam.

32 O/T:  Been very bothered by a little snippet I heard Rush say today.  He said something to the effect that the republican leadership is under the impression that BO will move after the election towards them and that they are wrong about this.

This is really troubling to hear as it is not a "normal reaction".  If the republicans were indeed totally shut out of meetings and bill writing and the like then the correct response, is to be, at this point, mad as hell.  the correct response is not to capitulate and compromise that would and should be the response of the lib/dems.  Hearing this is making the republicans look bad.  People will think they can't be trusted either and you might get a lot of well if we can't trust either of them, might as well give the dems a chance to fix things, if the republicans aren't going to stand up for us anyway"...

it's not good...not good at all.

You're right.

This is the perfect time to 'macaca' some Republicans. They already got Sharron Angle, the other day.

Angle made the mistake of acting like a Democrat and calling attention to ethnicity. It's applauded when a Democrat notices someone is non-Caucasian, but not okay for Republicans.

the double standard in this country is ridiculous....

the guy should have been told to stay out of it except to be the pretty face on the podium on election night and to make appearances on his behalf if asked to by bawney....that's it, behave like any other significant other/spouse...

103 AMEX apparently has their receivables well in hand as people are paying on time.

That's most likely because AMEX customers are used to the fact that the bill is DUE every month, not revolving.  So, they already are accustomed to only spending what they can AFFORD to spend each month.  Unlike the rest of us clowns that have interest CC's that we just load up and pay minimums on.

115 The thing I don't get about this video is, Barney Frank doesn't really dance around the issues. He flat out says, "I'm a liberal." From the "roll the dice" to "I'd like to get to single payer health care some day", Frank is refreshingly honest about what he wants. Just seems like an odd line of attack on the guy when there are better ones available.

Still, the ad already has served it's purpose...lots of attention for Bielat. You can't argue with results.

123 It's okay, but you still need to hit Frank over the head with how his boyfriends have benefited from his positions in Congress, especially the guy that was an executive at Fannie Mae, but also the prostitute brothel out of Frank's apartment guy. Why be afraid of offending the gay voters, the GOP isn't going to win them anyway, and what ones do vote GOP (Log Cabin and some others) would probably be fine with it.

Think about it, what self-respecting gay person could possibly look up to Barney Frank as a role model? He makes them all look bad. Or well, worse.

God, I should do an ad for Bielat. He may not win, and I might get sued, but nobody would ever forget it, that's for damn sure. I'd have Frank decked out in a Roman style toga like Nero surrounded by buff young gay guys, laughing at how the "rabble" always manages to keep him in power. He leans over to one of his boyfriends and hands him a garishly expensive diamond necklace and tells him "Oh don't thank me sweetheart, thank the American taxpayer" and they all start rolling in laughter while a young boy (a very young boy) plays the lyre and he and Frank gaze at each other.

Yep, I'd probably get sued.

152 Beck just played a PBS spot from the story of stuff gal who is unabashedly fostering communism.

Funny she is trying to convince kids not to buy a new video game and to keep the old one.

Well there's an easy capitalist solution to that.  Companies who create new games can take back old one you don't want and either refurbish and resell them or dispose of them correctly.  Same with the juice boxes in the dump.

They are making non issues issues with little kids....no wonder so many of my friends are doing things by guilt and not common sense.

Sweet Jesus, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.  Ace, whose views I respect, keeps pumping this Ladd Ehliger guy.  And I just don't get it.  His first add was great.  The Dale Patterson ad.  The next one, that er..."young frankenstein"  for that lady candidate (Fein) was ok to pretty good.  Then he came out with another that I remember thinking was "eh...".  Now this one.

Frankly, (no pun intended) I think this ad sucks.  It's way too cluttered and busy.

This Ladd guys ads just seem to be going down hill more and more each time.

Am I the only one thinking this?

I don't want to be pissing in the punch bowl, but seriously, did anyone really think this ad was good?

Personally, I think people who like this ad only like it because it is bagging on Barney Frank.  But we ALL already hate that dude.  So it's just preaching to the choir.  But if I had never heard of Frank or Sean before, this ad would just annoy the hell out of me.

Where as the first ad?  I never heard of Dale Patterson before, or the North Carolina Agricultural Commissioner before.  But after that ad, I knew two things...Dale was the shizz-nit.  And the NC agricultural  commisioner seemed like a totally important position.

Your Dale Peterson ad?  The awesome one?  As I recall it, Dale was in dead last place.  And then your ad for him came out.  And as I recall, your ad vaulted him from a zero percent of the vote to a third place 27%.  Pretty freakin' impressive.

So... just out of curiosity, what were Sean Bilats poll numbers before your ad, and what do you think they'll be after?  Do you foresee any sort of Dale Peterson style jump or buzz?

Hey, I'd be happy if you could answer me that there IS a huge jump in Sean's polling.  Deliriously so.

Anyway, I'll just go back to fucking off now.
