Baby Rapist Stopped, Arrested By Pissed Off Citizens

Why was he out of prison? That's the first question. He raped a child (or tried to) in 2003.

I don't think he'll be getting a lenient treatment this time.

A registered sex offender is being held on suspicion of rape after police said he sexually assaulted a 2-year-old girl in a Dollar Tree store on Decoto Road on Wednesday afternoon.
Eugene Ramos, 36, of Union City, was arrested and booked on suspicion of kidnapping, rape, sexual acts with a child and false imprisonment.
The incident began when a man grabbed the girl as she returned a ribbon to a Christmas aisle in the store, momentarily leaving the sight of her grandmother and aunt, who were with her, police said.
The man had the child pinned down in the aisle and was sexually assaulting her when he was spotted by the grandmother, police said.

That's the beginning of the story; hit the link for the rest. The aunt and grandmother chased the man through the stores, eventually getting the attention of two other men who gave chase and tackled him down. One of the guys is said to be a "solicitor," which I think might be a nice way of saying "panhandler."

But he handled this guy well enough.

Barring that, they need to be put on some sort of permanent probation, where they can be re-incarcerated indefinitely if their case worker thinks they're not safe to remain out. And we should err on the side of keeping them locked up.

74 s'moron: The defendant in that case did more than just rape that little girl - he ripped her insides to shreds. It was aggravated rape and he deserved the death penalty. I don't remember if they left it open in the sense that a legislature could rewrite the law to make it constitutional. I think the death penalty for this sort of crime would deter some pervs.

75 The guy is looking at a minimum of 13 years for the rape doubled under the three strikes laws, plus five years for a prior conviction involving violence, plus, a year for serving a prison sentence. So, thats 32 years and they will seek to commit him when he is released.
