Hey, look: I just only watch the NFL, sports-wise, and I think I'm done with them, too.
Not Really Related... Mike Ditka, wearing no pants, reams a guy out.
Thanks to Dave at Garfield Ridge.

It can be a tenuous connection. I've been a vikings fan since I picked up a football card of Tommy Mason (in purple pants) with Paul Flatley in the background. I decided to be an Alabama fan because I was born in the Fort (then Camp) Rucker infirmary.

Bama can have it now. Not based upon their superiority, but upon luck. That works, right? Something to be proud of?

Untwist your knickers. McCoy might be back for the second half.

Bah, this isn't new, he's attempted these things early in other games this season. With the defense he has, he's in the position to gamble early. If it pays off (usually it doesn't), he takes control of the game, and if it doesn't there's plenty of time to settle down....as seems to be the case here.

I assumed so since everybody tells me how good they are. They didn't show it in the bowl. Either they had each other perfectly gameplanned or they just aren't all that.
Hey look, I'm not super crowing about Alabama in Saban's third year (and 2nd year of his recruiting). Normally I wouldn't expect to even be in this game, much less doing well. I went to Bama in the '70s and got spoiled. We just went through a decade of Auburn hell. I'm just happy for my school to be a reliable contender again.
The natural order of my universe has been restored.

thanks for the smart ass being a jackass answer/sarc
i'm a Gators fan btw and thought Bama' beat us fair & square cause my team didn't want it as bad but watching this type of victory annoys the hell out of me, there won't be tears from me just head shaking, if my Bucs would have won the super bowl based on Gannon getting hurt in the 1st quarter i'd feel the same way, i'm just shaking my head that this is how a college football season ends, an injury hands a team a victory

Tainted championship game, unquestionably. But hell will rain down tomorrow on Mack Brown. Colt was obviously hurt before this game. No way the hit he took on the first series could have knocked anyone out.
Mack knew Colt was damaged, didn't tell anyone. Didn't give the Fresh back-up the snaps he needed during the last three weeks. You'll start hearing it tomorrow.

Garrett Gilbert hasn't been setting the world on fire, but he also hasn't been dropping sure TD's or fumbling passes into the hands of Bama lineman.

I've lived in DC-metro, Vermont, Chicago, Boston-metro, Houston, Indiana, and Los Angeles county. Houston was by far the most polite city. The men, in particular, were gentlemen. Hell, even the academics I worked with were less obnoxious about their (predominantly liberal) views. Back in the day (80s) Chicago was very friendly, but it has changed a lot since September 11th.

In the NFL, if you don't have a decent back-up QB, you deserve to lose. And big schools like Texas should do the same. Not like they can't recruit well enough. Sorry, but the Colts lost because they relied on one player too much. It is a team sport after all. But I really don't care about this particular game, no one in my family played for either school, and we have 13 former college players, 9 different schools. Makes family get-togethers interesting. LOL
I suggest you enjoy watching the other players do their job. They deserve the attention. Without a front line to protect him, a QB would spend a whole lot more time on the injured list. And if a running back didn't have someone to block for him he would still be at the line of scrimmage. JMO. And now I'm done here for the night. Enjoy the game.

Easy on the Texicans. My dad is from there and my younger brother, many cousins, aunts and uncles are from there. If you felt that way, they probably held a similar opinion about you. My experience is that they are friendly, giving, big-hearted folks. Only place I've ever been to that has roads with shoulders as wide as the driving lane and when you drive up behind one of them, instead of having to pass in the on-coming lane, they will drive on the shoulder to let you pass and give a friendly wave as you drive by. "Didnt i predict a 31 13 Tide win?"
Are you saying you knew Colt would go out during the first series of the game?
Reminds me, years ago, of a prediction prior to a Jets (Namath) vs Raiders game. Joe Willy, inexplicably threw multiple INTs late in the game for the Raiders to win. Go figure.

that's the sucky part about this championship win, every time Bama says "hey we're the defending champs", someone will say back "thanks to a 1st quarter injury", is it fair? I think it is, but even if you don't think it is, every time this championship is brought up that will be the reply just as Pat fans talking about their dynasty will have to deal w/ "hey they cheated to win those thanks to spygate though"

Maybe, maybe not. Alabama played way too conservative on offense in the second half, depending on their defense way too much. It certainly would have been a more intense game with McCoy in.

Colt had better have x-rays on hand showing broken things. Or else I'm going to make the conclusion that his own people put out at halftime, that this whole thing was about not jeapordizing his NFL career.
And, if that is true, I have to say:
1) Fuck you, Colt McCoy. Sell out. The Brotherhood of the Alamo does not know you.
2) Fuck you, NFL, for continuing to corrupt college football, and everything else you touch.

"Sportsmen" generally hope both teams are at full strength; on a good field; with even officiating. When that doesn't happen, "sportsmen" generally acknowledge the fact, and don't blow their own horn.
That's what "sportsmen" generally do.

Colt said after the game that he felt fine, except that he couldnt feel his arm.
At halftime, reports said that Colt's people had decided to pull him out of the game. The specific reason cited for this was his money making ability in the NFL draft. That was a cited reason, by Colt's people.
So, you tell me: is it about a mysterious injury, or is it about the money?
I'm waiting. You tell me.

I hate questions like that to the losing team, it's like what's the point analyzing shit, they won so obv. they did it better

YRM
I believe Joseph K's ire was directed primarily at me, but you got caught in the web. I'm sorry you got caught in the crossfire.
I can handle "fuck you". Loser. Asshat. Etc. Etc. Etc. Joseph K went over "my line" with "low class trash".
Kinda interesting how the anonymity of the internet, let's some believe they can dish out very insulting diatribes, which they'd never consider, face-to-face. Oh well, some pluses, some minuses, for the internet.

what pisses me off is that he practically called us woman beaters over a football game, plus you're a Texas fan who just watched your team lose the final round you can be pissed off if you want I know i was pissed when my Rays lost in the final round & played like shit against Philly after outdoing the Red Sox. It's not like you were calling for the deaths of the Bama players but he responded like we were doing just that over a simple disagreement on who we wanted to see win

in a perfect world, yes
I get it that people claim Boise would get crushed by an SEC team but then why so scared to put them in the title game? they're undefeated almost every year and are 2-0 in BCS bowls, what gives? if they have the balls the BCS will put them in a title game next time or keep looking like pussies

oh ok, that's cleared up. I agree though, better to win against a team at 100% then say hey we won because the other team got they're star player hurt helping us win by 17
Posted by: YRM at January 07, 2010 08:57 PM (MxqA5)
They lack the strength of schedule factor to get in the big show. The SEC has the advantage in that any SEC team that wins out will almost certainly be in the Championship while conversely, SEC teams are almost guaranteed to have a loss.
Boise played one ranked team this year, #16 Oregon. People say its because they are being ducked but I have no idea if that true or not. If you have a tough conference why go hard on your non-conference games but I always thought that money drives scheduling. They're best hope is if the WAC toughens up as a whole.

Not exactly my point, but close enough.
I do apologize though for you getting swept up in Joseph K's tirade, directed at me.

good point, and Oregon lost the Rose Bowl, so...
Posted by: YRM at January 07, 2010 09:06 PM (MxqA5)
Really, the only game that I felt was embarrassing for the SEC was South Carolina's humiliating loss to UConn.

"By your logic, Texas should be ashamed to have beaten Oklahoma because Bradford went down with a shoulder injury?"
Not "ashamed", but I do NOT take it as an unquestionable win. It was a "win" for TX, but it left me "disappointed". Not settled. Who's best? Even tho TX has won that match up, 4 of the 5 last yrs, that TX victory was "tainted".
Posted by: MDr VB1.0 CS1st at January 07, 2010 10:32 PM (ucq49)
I don't feel "ashamed" unless I'm a "fan" of a team that has won under less than ideal conditions, AND then brag about how great we were - we won.
I'm NOT a TX or any other specific college FB "Fan". I'm a fan of the "game".

Remember:
Utah 31
Alabama 17
And it wasn't even that close.

dude check my last comments I said that my Gators deserved the ass whipping we got, again another epic fail from a loudmouth fan who can't bother to read my last comments, but at least you beat us w/ our starting QB, you didn't do that w/ Texas, you got lucky and now we'll never know if you would have beat Texas w/ McCoy
Posted by: hobgoblin at January 08, 2010 02:00 AM (VXsK1)
when did I apologize to that jackass? meh, yeah he's probably from HotAir knowing what pricks they are over there

I have no idea what this sentence is saying.
Posted by: toby928 at January 08, 2010 04:05 AM (PD1tk)
Unfortunately for Alabama when McCoy went out of the game it was Alabama that was getting owned.
By the time the refs got involved I was leaning towards Texas.
Until I was reminded that, unlike all other NCAA football games, the Big-12 championship game is 60:01 minutes long.
The whole thing is now one big ugly asterisk.

Sure YRM, when most of your posts reek of bitterness. The only "taint" around here is the rancid smell of Gator meat.
