So you want to get Alabama drunk and take advantage of it?

Why yes, yes I do.

The biggest reason I left there was to get as far away from the myriad preachers who insisted on imposing their Baptist ways on everybody all the time. Local and state politics were a joke, for the most part populated with good ol' boys, and if you weren't in that clique, tough shit.

Florida is a bit more in tune with the times and still had all the beaches and seafood I loved while growing up in Mobile. I also went to elementary school with Bradley Byrne, who taught me how to wiggle my ears.

I don't think Dale will get death threats, but then again, I didn't think LTC West would either.  From his blog:

Lastly, I addressed the true “party of political intimidation” last month, the Democrat party. And it did not take them one month to prove me right, and personally as well. Ron Klein decided to attack one of our campaign volunteers who just happens to work for a local news station. His subversive, immature, and petulant actions resulted in a very professional person to be confronted at her workplace, and publicly humiliated by the Palm Beach Post. As well, there has sprung up a “No West FL-22 Blog” in South Florida along with a “No West FL-22 Twitter” account. There are a couple of interesting twitter comments posted, “November is hunting season and there is no bag limit”, which is followed by this sent out 13 May at 8:30am, “I will skin you personally West”.

Funny, we did submit a police report but do you think it will get any attention. Do you think the mainstream media will report this twitter post?

What is at stake is America……how many more months can we take like this past 30 days. America is being led into a “Hurt Locker”.

Steadfast and Loyal,
LTC Allen B. West

No,  I will when you explain to me how pulling the trigger with the hammer forward will get you shot though.

Simple. It's a matter of habit. If your habit is to carry the weapon with your finger on the trigger, then you will do it with the hammer back too, out of force of habit. Gun safety is all about having good safety habits. Bad habits get people killed. All the rationalizations and excuses count for little when your friend is lying in the ground because you had a careless moment when you "forgot" the weapon was cocked.

Yes - and I am sad about that. Since Spector and Sestak would be fighting for the same voters - it would really clear the road for Toomey. Plus, then I could watch Arlin lose not once----but twice.

Is there? I didn't realize we had a rule that prevented indies.

I would doubt Specter would want to run as an independent. As much of a douche bag as he is, I think even he would know that if he can't win a primary in either party, then he can't win a general election.

117 Simple. It's a matter of habit. If your habit is to carry the weapon with your finger on the trigger, then you will do it with the hammer back too, out of force of habit. Gun safety is all about having good safety habits. Bad habits get people killed. These days, you follow the four rules. Period. If you don't know them, please look them up before you pick up a firearm.

Smart people make a point of learning from the fatal mistakes of others. Crap that was common practice last Century ain't tolerated by smart shooters these days.

136 It's a little known fact that a swarm of bees has the ability to ascertain the "sweetness" quality of spilled crude oil. Bees can be used to determine the originator of a spill. In our town, a swarm of bees was released at some muck, in between the B-P, Sun, Pure and Esso plants. Most of those bees made a beeline for the Pure plant; about a quarter were split between Sun and B-P. Only the closest observers saw the solitary drone fly to the other refinery, but it did at least prove that there is one Esso bee in every crowd.

(discussion going on at HotAir)

My first rifle larger in caliber than a .22 was a Model 94 30-30. I was 15 and that was 54 years ago. My rifle has ALWAYS been the Model 94, in various calibers, except for one year when I carried a Marlin 336. My rifle now is the Centennial Model 94 made in 1994 in .30 WCF.

As to the finger in the trigger guard, I can tell most of you commenting about it have never set a horse with a 94 in a scabbard or with a thong in the saddle ring looped over the saddle horn.

On horseback the 94 is carried with an empty chamber, hammer down or on half cock. The common way to pull the rifle out is with four fingers through the loop and the finger in the trigger guard. The trigger guard is an integral part of the lever and as it is actuated the finger naturally has to fall into the trigger guard. A person practiced with the 94 can draw the rifle and lever a cartridge into the chamber about as fast as someone else can disengage their safety on a normal rifle.

I logged many miles on a Quarter Horse named Star, with a thirty-thirty in the scabbard. I worked around many ranchers and cowboys and fence riders in Nevada for a while. Most of them carried a 94, just as I described, and handled it just like Peterson.

PetersonÂ’s 94, in the ad, looks like one of the later models, so it not only has a half-cock safety position and the safety tit under the stock, actuated by squeezing the lever against the stock, but also that damnable cross-bolt hammer block that Winchester added to satisfy the lawyers on the later models.

If Peterson really is a horseman and a Model 94 rifleman, then he was handling the rifle in much the way it has been handle by cowboys since 1895.

That some of us fully intend to survive the coming apocalypse.

BTW, did you know that Obambi & the EU just prepared A ONE TRILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT PACKAGE because of a nation whose GDP is less than that of the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area?

A nation which is nothing more than a canary in a coal mine when it comes to the looming apocalypse that is dysgenic fertility in the civilized world?

A nation which is metaphysically incapable of ever even fantasizing about making the interest payments on the bailout, much less re-paying the principal?

In the coming apocalypse, even possessing gold won't do you any good - there will be only two commodities which will have any value whatsoever: Ammunition, and the gray matter between your ears.

Everything else will be worthless.

Actually, that long winded explanation means exactly dick. An unsafe practice is an unsafe practice no matter how old it is. Remember when it was common practice to lose a couple of hundred men while building a major construction project? Well, that was due to unsafe practices. We don't do those unsafe practices any longer because they cause fatal accidents. We have time tested firearms safety practices developed by the military and the NRA. They work and they save lives. And I don't give a damn how the old timers did it.

172 Unclefacts: Open Carry is not about self defense. It's about redefining our culture.

Queer rights parades worked for queers better than hiding in the closet. We gun owners do need to get in the victim-disarmament bigots' faces.

Once we have won on OC , we can start on public acceptance of hunting hobos.

Drew,

I didn't get a chance to comment this morning, but do you think there is any chance the people behind this were involved in that epic Cullman Liquidation commercial?

175 As a native born Texan I call shenanigans on this "Dale Peterson" person, he's stealing our schtick.  Everyone from Alabama entitled to talk this shit hightailed out for Texas by 1870...

I admit that some of them foks moved on to lesser states like New Mexico, Oklahoma, or even Idaho, but nobody east of Pier Road in Orange, Texas gets to talk this way.

176 I think I will send this guy a few bucks, just to pay for the ad which has to be the best political ad I have seen in a long time.

I am sick of the blow-dried "reach across the aisle" people.

I want warriors.   And I have been saying this on several blogs for some time,  and Gingrich should credit me.

189 Jimmy Choo's beginnings can be traced back to his workshop in London Borough of Hackney, North London, which he opened in 1986 by renting an old hospital building. His craftsmanship and designs were soon noticed and he came to the verge of international notability when Jimmy Choo pumps were featured in a record eight pages in a 1988 issue of Vogue magazine. Patronage from Diana, Princess of Wales from 1990 onwards further boosted his image.
