— LauraW The local news lefties are reporting that there were 'no real zingers' during the debate last night but that is not really true.
There was a self-inflicted zinger earlier on by Blumenthal that NOBODY is mentioning this morning. I can't seem to find video of this moment: At one point McMahon said over and over again that Blumenthal knew absolutely nothing about business.
His response?
(I'm paraphrasing, since I can't find a transcript.)
"I know a lot more about business than my opponent thinks, since my position has been...prosecuting businesses and others.."
So, everything he knows about business has to do with his being an anti-business attack dog for twenty years? Nice.
And then there was this:
Ouch.
Very ouch, baby.
Blumenthal countered that he was not going to be an entrepreneur as a Senator. True. But the point was made; this guy has been trying to governmentally micromanage other people's entrepreneurial activities to a bloody pulp for twenty years.
He only views economic activity through the lens of What Government Will Allow, and as something that requires government intervention. The idea of a hands-off approach, leaving a business alone to live or die on its own merits, could never occur in this man's brain.
Blumenthal continually wore a very odd rictus grin and his hands shook uncontrollably at times. I'm inclined to think he has a health problem that causes that. He is too notorious a camera whore to get so nervous, is my assumption. Dunno, YMMV.
McMahon had some moments of halting speech, but for the most part she seemed focused and feisty. She was able to respond to most of the flung mud. She disappointed too, by missing a vital point occasionally. It was annoying that she had to continually defend specific business decisions in her past, while Blumenthal was never really challenged about any specific cases prosecuted by his office.
He seems to have pulled it out at the end and if I weren't a grotesque partisan hack (I am) I would probably conclude that the debate ended up a draw.

And, she also knows a lot about whoring because her clients are whores.

The entire left-wing machine is anti-business, anti-free market, anti-supply side economics, pro-over-the-top business killing regulations, pro tax the shit out of business, anti-liberty, & finally just shove the corrupt business killing unions in there to impose progressive quasi-fascism and force it all over-seas, and then tax the shit out of that too. Plus++ vilification of "corporations", which of course, is the vilification of private enterprise.
btw- The left's new mascot Stephen Colbert, is out there mocking "liberty". Colbert makes Alinsky look like a piker.
Yes - kidz - Liberty sucks. You don't want liberty. Liberty is for suckers. Big nanny state cradle to grave government is what you want.

The Republicans need to learn how to debate and to answer questions. Never go on the defensive. Turn your response into an attack.
Stay on offense; keep the Democrat on the defensive. Make the Democrat answer for their policies. Stay on message. Attack. Attack. Attack.

Beckel was freaking out last night on Hannity during the panel that she was involved in pornography. Is this just over the top rhetoric over the WWE or is there something else? He kept mentioning "Girls Gone Wild". Did she have anything to do with that?
And funny how libs only think these kind of things are a negative if they can paint their Republican opponents with it.

Will be? Hasn't he already been? The establishment is in there for one thing and one thing only....power. It has nothing to do with the state or the residents within that state, nor the country as a whole. They just sit back and watch the money roll in from all the sweetheart deals and taxpayer fraud. I'm glad to see the TEA party out there kicking ass and taking names. The good ole days are gone, methinks.

I have enough trouble keeping up with my local representatives, so I'm avoiding a quick, remote assessment of Blumenthal as politician (nevermind Blumenthal the person). If he represents his constituents, then he's done his job whether I approve or not. But this guy really is ignorant and dangerously so even if I agreed with his ideology (which I don't quite obviously). As AG he's tasked with prosecuting State law. Fine, and there's oversight via the governor. The flavor of trials will naturally vary between Left and Right. Blumenthal, however, will be a rogue agent of a potentially mal-informed populace with only his wits to serve him if he chooses to ignore voters - which is a virtual certainty when the DC swamp beckons.
So, while any power-grabbing votes will necessarily hurt the country, it's his constituents who will be most hurt due to his utter ignorance. He simply doesn't know what he's doing about the single most important issue facing CT and, by extension, America now and for the foreseeable future.
