And, they tell Us Weekly, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been kept in the dark about their plans … until now.“We got engaged two weeks ago,” Bristol, 19, tells Us Weekly. “It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents.”…
“I really thought we were over,” Levi tells Us Weekly. “So when I went [to meet her about child custody], I had no hope. I think we both just started talking — and then we took Tripp for a walk.”
Says Bristol, “When he left that night, we didn’t hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: ‘I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again’ … I was in shock.”
The good: A child should have his father, and a mother should have a husband. Anything that offers up a hope of that is a good thing.
The bad: This guy is a complete self-absorbed asshole and will likely leave her after three or four years.
The possibly good: But that's what guys are, often, especially at that age. The pregnancy was a shock to him, I'm sure, and he reacted cowardly and selfishly, but that is, again, how guys often act. It's not necessarily a predictor that someone can't grow up and accept responsibility.
Bill Murray has a good quote about this:
The truth is, anybody that becomes famous is an ass for a year and a half. You've got to give them a year and a half, two years. They are getting so much smoke blown, and their whole world gets so turned upside down, their responses become distorted. I give everybody a year or two to pull it together because, when it first happens, I know how it is.
I realize that "Ricky Hollywood" did not do anything but have irresponsible unprotected sex with a teenage girl and then jilt her rather than accepting his responsibilities as a man, and that is hardly a conventional way to become a "celebrity," but we are now in a culture where that kind of repulsive "fame" is the same as the well-earned kind.
And so, perhaps, he had his year and a half of being an asshole.
I hope so. Certainly it would be better for everyone involved for him to accept that "Ricky Hollywood" ain't happening and that being a deadbeat dad and liar-for-hire isn't really a career.

I am afraid that you are right Ace. I have personally seen this shit before with my daughter. It will not take three or four years either.
My understanding is that he is yet to get a real damn job and neither has she. I also understand that he sponged off of them before he left the first time.
He is a worthless shit and she is too young and stupid to realize it. I am sure mom and dad know but, in the end there is little they can do.

I try to think the best of people when I can. I hope he has grown up enough to see the man he wants to be, and realize that he has to stop being so self absorbed and shoulder some serious responsibility to become that man.

What he did went well beyond the actions of a 'normal' guy who knocks up his girlfriend, even considering how powerful her mom is and how much attention the whole thing drew. He's been under the influence of the worst bottom-feeders in Hollywood and the media. I simply do not believe that this is a sincere reconciliation on his part.
Sarah and Todd better keep there distance, financially and in every other respect. Bristol has made her 'adult' choice, so now she has to live with it.

To go from Ricky Hollywood, Playgirl Playfag, to loving father who wants responsibility in a year and a half is quite the leap.
Hope, for the kid's sake (Bristol and her baby's), that he's done this 180.

I think she does have a real job, just not a high-paying one. I read a while back that she's got some sort of office job, I think, and she has like a three-bedroom condo... because Willow (or whoever is the next youngest girl) was spending a lot of time with her there (which seems like a really bad idea to me).
I assume her parents have been helping her financially (just as I assume they paid for the last engagement ring). That has got to stop. When I got married right out of college my parents (and his) were shocked because we hadn't dated that long. I remember my mom even asking me if I was getting married to avoid being alone. Anyway, we got married and moved hundreds of miles away from both sets of parents, set up our apartments by ourselves, and struggled with everything by ourselves. 26 years later my marriage is much stronger than my sister's (who got married to a long-time b.f. the same day I did (double wedding) and lived very close to both sets of families).
And, yeah, Bristol doesn't strike me as the brightest bulb in the box, but I don't think that reflects on her parents. Kids turn out how they're going to turn out.

It's a pretty common problem in girls that age. You see, shit heads are "misunderstood" and she will "be able to fix him". Makes her feel needed, important. Like she's the only one that understands him. That makes their relationship "special". In short, yes, it's retarded.
Same problem I have with my own 20 something daughter. My other 20 something has her head on pretty straight, she avoids retards like this like the plague. But my oldest? She's always been the one to "bring home the wounded bird" sort.
She just never has quite gotten used to the idea that some birds aren't really wounded, their just worthless. Hard lesson to learn, and sadly only one that real life experience can teach in most cases.

I don't think he'll have that much access to the Palin household. If he starts whining about Sarah giving him the cold shoulder in about 2-3 months, I'll revisit my theory. But for now, I think he really did just want to come home with his girlfriend. In any case, both of them have a lot of growing up to do, and I hope that mom and dad really let the reality sink in, and hard.

Ditto. I've seen this often enough to see the train wreck coming a long way off, and yes Bristol appears to be the type that will pick the douchebag time and time again while ignoring the nice guys. I was worried about that, but according to the Harper's article, Bristol's condo is 90 minutes away from the Palins' home. If they are normal newlyweds with a young child, they (Bristol and Weaselboy) won't spend much time at the Palins' house. At least, let's hope they won't. So perhaps the potential for the jerkoff to get more dirt (alleged dirt) on the Palins isn't that high.

I'm afraid Bristol is a naive idiot who is a poor judge of character, or has a very piss poor ability to compute that some decisions can have bad consequences -- this guy is a snake, a piece of garbage -- always was, always will be.
Posted by: unknown jane at July 14, 2010 12:41 PM (5/yRG)
She's naive, thinks the best of people, isn't very cynical or suspicious, and is under 25... so nothing here is a surprise.
Go meet people at college, they're almost all like this; the world hasn't kicked them hard enough often enough yet. They all think sweetness and light can change the world, people are generally good, nice, and kind, and that they understand what is going on and why people do what they do.
You might think a 20 year old is generally going to be more mature than this... you'd be wrong, but you might think this. Her attitude isn't "13 year old". It's just "pre-real world living".
Of course being a mom, having to do real finances, sorting out planning for a future for her and her kid... reality may be brutal for her over the next year or three; I expect she'll learn pretty quick.
And if she's amazingly lucky, Levi will learn some of those lessons too and quit being such a douche; but the odds of someone changing for the better don't favor this outcome.
If she was 40 and still tried the "I thought I could change him/I thought he'd change/I thought he had changed" crap, she'd be showing she couldn't learn a damn thing. At 20 this sort of thing is where that lesson generally comes from.
If Levi runs off and Monty is correct "she will take up with another jerkoff who's just as bad." then she'll have shown she ain't learnin nuthin.

True @90 -- young women of that age are terribly foolish when it comes to "true love" and "Ima gonna heal his broken wings wit ma love". Young men at that age are only interested in...well, you know what they are interested in. Usually by 25 (although maybe 30 now) the women get jaded and the men start to settle down -- and then you get married! lol Ain't love grand?

This is a sad situation that makes clear that Bristol is a very limited human being. To be honest, there are bigger things at stake, too. She is derailing one of the more promising movements, and it's not clear why. She couldn't even tell Sarah and Todd directly? That's insane without some explanation. As best as I can tell, Sarah paid dearly for Bristol's human flaws, and was gracious about Levi's nastiness.
I know this isn't realistic, but Bristol Palin probably can't be trusted by her family. I think she would sell a secret or distort an argument.

This is one of my pet peeves. I don't like the way everyone assumes they had sex without using birth control. It's a way of saying that this could never happen to you or your kids because they wouldn't have "unprotected" sex.
No birth control is 100%. Condoms are not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy, and as those of us who aren't Excitable Andy know, there are only a few days a month when even unprotected sex will make a baby.
Do the math. If a failed condom can lead to a baby, say, 20% of the month, then 80% of the time, a baby won't happen whether there's a condom or not. You've probably had condoms fail and didn't even realize it, because hey, no baby. You've probably had condoms fail and DID realize it, but hey, no baby.
However, we as a society tell our children (and ourselves) that if they use the magical condom, they won't get AIDS, no matter how they screw around. AIDS can happen any day of the month, and condoms don't make sex "safe."

That said, everyone deserves a second chance, and forgiveness is part of love, so we'll see, I guess.
I'm sure Sarah is smart enough to keep him at arms length.
It would sure suck around the house to know you can't unwind and let your guard down becuase your son in law is an unreliable dumbfuck. Even if he proves otherwise, she can't afford to not be on her guard around him. And around Bristol to the extent Bristol will repeat anything she hears or sees.

If I were Todd, I'd have told Levi last year, maybe when Levi and Bristol were really having a rough spot, " Go and fuck over the MFM for what they did to Sarah, see what they are really like and how they treat family, make what $ you can from them, we'll take you back ."

One thing you appear to be missing is that the failure rates for or "efficiency" of the various birth control methods include failure to use it when intended.
IOW, a condom is actually 98% effective "when used" properly. But published numbers include when not used properly in which it drops to around 80 to 85%.

The Church, however, does not try to stop others from using it. Abortion, however, is the killing of an innocent life and the Church does try to exert influence on laws regarding that, although without much success.

27sifty, Levi burrowing in for more scoops
Under these circumstances in particular, prepare for the worst even while you hope for the best.
Tough love is the only thing that will open Bristol's eyes. The Palins might put Bristol on an allowance. But that would be really stupid. Providing their home with a professional nanny for their grandchild would be smart as far as being certain the child is nurtured and loved within the family unit; but limit help to that while Bristol either attends school or works full time to earn her own keep since she chooses to be an adult. Otherwise, Sarah Palin raises titty baby girls. And acting like everything's fine is not best given Levi the cur.

My understanding is that the pill chemically effects an abortion of the fertilized egg.

121 The same thing that is wrong with men -- which is what we women ask when we see you all throwing your money and your pride away running after the biggest bitches to walk the planet...and then getting pissed because women are such bitches! LOL
Everybody is stupid when it comes to romance.

Bristol has been living on her own for while in a condo (townhouse) 90 minutes from her parents' place.
Unassisted parenthood of a baby could very well explain why she took him back. She should've mind-melded with my mom about that bright idea.

So, is anyone that uses birth control evil?
Your mom would have been a saint to keep you from being born, you trash-talking little worm.
Here's a little clue for you: most of us don't define freedom in terms of sex. I realize, however, that you are obsessed with sex because (a) you are incapable of any other act, and (b) you probably think it is the right-wingers that are keeping girls from doing you, when in fact it's you that keeps them from doing you.

But life begins when a sperm and egg connect? In that instant? If so, why does God abort around 40 percent of all his innocent life?
Posted by: Bono at July 14, 2010 03:01 PM (7aNei)
When you marry, nothing good comes from hanging on to the apron strings. And Levi hasn't secured a job since he quit the one the Palins arranged for him during the '08 campaign.

Don't you get it Ken, if I was never born, I wouldn't know the difference, as I won't when I die. The same with the eggs and sperm coming together. Do they know the difference?
Why does God see fit to miscarry around 40 percent of his beings?
Is God evil?

Per the Harper's interview Bristol is working full time in Anchorage and living in a townhouse that she apparently bought herself. I guess that her speaking engagements pay/paid pretty well.
So I guess she is about as independent as she can be at this point. I didn't catch who's minding her son while she's working, but at the time of the writing her brother's girlfriend was living with Bristol, so maybe she helps out.

For Catholics, the use is wrong. The Church has decided to make its stand against the laws on abortion because that is easier to understand, although they do consider the use of birth controls a sin for cathlics.
I am merely trying to explain what my Church's position is. And if the pill was a chemically induced method of abortion, it would fall in the same category.

God's ways are not our ways. It is up to Him to appoint the times of life and death, not people who think a child is an inconvenience, or those who think old people should just be euthanized.
I get the feeling that you are not a believer. I am not trying to proselytize you, merely explaining. I will pray for you to see the truth.

No, but to be fair, we haven't really fully explored the whole showing your airbrushed bare ass and muffin top waist to the world. That could still work out.

If so, why does God murder little kids sometimes with illnesses and disasters?
oh, you mean that kind of argument is only OK to support abortion being like what God does?
It's not up to people to terminate other people, even fetus people.
It's one thing to say now isn't the time to make a person, and another to say it's time to stop a specific person from being born.

Who is to say God actually chose to do this? Perhaps this is the best possible procreation God was capable of making. It's not like God wants people to be raped or murdered, but it's the best he can do to give us free will.
It's not an argument for killing a baby that nature also kills.

"I realize that "Ricky Hollywood" did not do anything but have irresponsible unprotected sex with a teenage girl and then jilt her rather than accepting his responsibilities as a man"
Well..... actually, the most important thing he did was ATTACK Sarah Palin. That is what made him famous. He was a HERO to the MSM and remains so to this day.
