— DrewM That's what one Democratic pollster is reportedly saying..
The advice from Democratic consultants and strategists is almost unanimous: Run away from the president, and fast. A prominent Democratic pollster is circulating a survey that shows George W. Bush is 6 points more popular than President Obama in "Frontline" districts -- seats held by Democrats that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee sees as most vulnerable to Republican takeover. That Bush is more popular than Obama in Democratic-held seats is cause for outright fear...."He is a walking radioactive disaster," one senior Democratic operative said of the (current) president. But any effort to seriously distance oneself from Obama is dangerous for an incumbent; go too hard against the president and voters think the candidate is faking it.
"People know that a Democratic congressman will agree with a Democratic president more often than not, so the worst thing a candidate can do is manufacture differences with the president," said Phil Singer, a party strategist and former top aide to Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign. "Voters can spot a fake right away."
What's more, virtually every Democratic strategist agreed, if the president of the United States shows up in a candidate's home state, the candidate should show up too. Dodging Obama by claiming a scheduling conflict only breeds more stories about how much of a drag he is, and about how desperate Democrats are to avoid him.
The link above is to Jim Geraghty's piece but follow though to the Roll Call story where this came from and see how the Democrats are simply in damage control/survival mode at this point.

"How is this possible? What about my leg?"
The Democrats in 2010 are like a slow motion train wreck, there's no stopping it, but we'll have to wait just a bit longer to see how big the explosion and resulting damage is. I can't wait to find out.

I was shocked, both people said the Dems were running away from OBama as fast as they could.

That's my standard line to lib acquaintances nowadays. "Are you looking forward to November 2? I sure am."
Chris Matthews wince usually ensues.

TRENTON — A majority of New Jersey voters approve of Gov. Chris Christie's job performance, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released this morning.
Fifty-one percent of voters approve of Christie, while 36 percent disapprove. ThatÂ’s a major jump from the last Quinnipiac poll, taken on June 17, when 44 percent approved and 43 percent disapprovPosted by: Radioactive Satellite Of LOVE at August 19, 2010 06:37 AM (LdYLm)

The scary fact is - OMG - When Bush was president, unemployment was low.
We had jobs.
We had confidence.
Businesses (lg & small) were not scared to death Of Nazi Pelosi's tax payer funded health care hell.
Fannie and Freddie hadn't collapsed yet. Republicans sounded the warning bells-- over and over. Over Barney Frank's insistence that "nothing was wrong" at Fannie and Freddie. Turns out - those evil Republicans were right.
People are waking up.
Nazi Pelosi wants an investigation. How dare Americans not adore her crazy insane radical agenda.

CD-4 Himes (D) 46% - Debicella (R) 42%
CD-5 Murphy (D) 49% - Greenberg (R)39%
Both incumbents are sub 50% and the R challengers are within 10%. Debicella is only 4%, almost a statistical dead heat. Himes beat Chris Shays by a slim margin in 2008 to get the seat. Both challengers have only just won their primary and are just beginning to really campaign.

I know why we didn't much care for Bush at times, but we're hyperpartisan ideologues. People have to be asking themselves, "Why was Bush so bad?" He was a warmonger? Well, I don't know what was so great about the Taliban and Saddam Hussein that that was a bad idea, but the troops that were sent to actually do the job loved him. All of the reasons we morons were disappointed we knew would be much worse under a Democrat.
So why did they really hate him in the first place?
I knew this would happen. The hate for him was overblown and irrational and ginned up by the leftist media and their own issues.

Well I know of 60 million Americans who spotted the fake back in 2008. The problem is that 70 million didnt, until it was too late.

So make no mistake. The time for debate about whether I'm a failure is over.
I won.
So, again, let me be clear. I will say "let me be clear" as many times as needed until everyone is clear about how awesome I am when I say "let me be clear."
Let me be clear. Saying "let me be clear" is a bad-assed rhetorical device that makes me look like a real tough-guy. Make no mistake about that.
Also, we cannot return to the failed policies of the past 8 years. This much is clear.
I personally have saved 10 million jobs with my stimulus. You'd think you'd be thanking me, that's what you'd think.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm flying to Chicago with Michelle for some ice cream.

Some people are born to lead and an event finds them,
for others an event find them and they rise to the challenge and lead.
Still others were identified by communist talent spotters at an early age and convoyed to leadership by Red apparatchiks who stage-managed their lives more than a Milli Vanilli concert.

Heh. Voters are savvy enough to ascertain appropriate and subtle distancing of candidates to the President: not enough and they're indistinguishable, too much and they're "faking" it. Why, look Everyone! It's Congressman Goldilocks! And he picked the perfect oatmeal!
Good grief. America could've had Mama Grizzly and it selected mush. That's how keen America's eyesight can be.

I think there were three biggies. The "Bush Lied" lie/conspiracy of the MFM about war was ingrained. Congressional spending under the guise of Compassionate Conservatism got out of hand, especially when the Democrats were allowed to write the laws. And illegal immigration/amnesty policy.
The first was a virtual crime committed by the media and the Democrats. The last two were of Bush's own doing. Note that those latter two issues are dogging the Democrats now. Big spending and the "comprehensive" POS will take down any government.
There were zillions of policies and themes to consider, but those really stood out to me.
