Change! Democrats now report higher "debt stress" levels than Republicans
— Purple Avenger

I guess the news that Obama ain't all that is starting to sink in and the post-election days of wine and roses are over.

...Last year, Democrats felt better about their finances than Republicans, despite generally being in worse shape. That sense seems to have worn off: Democrats now report higher debt stress levels on average than Republicans...
Perhaps Republicans were simply more pessimistic realistic about Teh One's Ascension and the suicidal Pelosi congress and made necessary survival adjustments earlier on? An 18 month head start on hunkering down for the long haul is obviously going to translate into a much better position today.

Let's face it - a religious like faith in Skittle shitting Unicorns and hitting the Lotto was never really a solid plan for economic survival.

You sure about that? I mean we have the Chief Redistributionist here. Your better position translates to confiscatable assets.

Wealth is not safe under this government.

True dat!  And in the not too distant future, the whole quality of care and axcess to care is going to drastically change for the worst.  You are going to see a lot of Obama voters get gobsmacked when their employer provided health care benefits go the way of the dodo bird, and people are going to have to wait in line to be seen by beseiged doctors.

30 Democrats now report higher debt stress levels

This is likely due to the fact collection agency's don't accept "get it from Obama's stash" as payment

31 WaPo (yes, I know) has a must read article (linked at Red State)  on the relative economic situations of Fairfax County in VA, and Montgomery County, across the river in MD.  Fairfax, while trending bluer all the time, still benefits from its traditional financial restraint, while Montgomery is a microcosm of all that is wrong with the blue states and countries, starting with the teacher's unions.  This is as close to a lab experiment as you can get, and the results are crystal clear.  They'll still be ignored, of course.

"Days of Wine and Roses" ... I just watched that movie on Netflix.

A story about two drunks, the burning down of their apartment, an ignored child, a mangled greenhouse, repeated stays in the looney bin to dry out, and sexual encounters in a dingy roach motel.  One goes to AA, salvages what remains of his pathetic life, one doesn't.

Depressing as all hell.

We'll see if the US economy takes the Jack Lemmon-approach or the Lee Remick approach.

54 American health care is not a growth industry even though the number of patients to be treated will rise. Too many barriers are being erected.

The cost of deploying the now mandated electronic records keeping is going to run well over $100K for a doctor.  Probably 3X more if/when conversion/transcription of their existing records is ever forced on them.

This will effectively force many small town independent practitioners out of business and into corporate medical groups.  The economic viability of a small town doctor has always been marginal, but ObamaCare just drove the final nail in its coffin.

My family is certainly feeling a lot of financial stress and we are not in a better position.  However, I think just knowing when he got elected that things were likely going to suck and suck big time has kept us all mentally balanced -- there were a lot of people who really thought is was going to start raining gold and manna, and that a skittle crapping unicorn who would pay for everything was literally going to show up on their doorstep.  As said already here: reality can be a bitch.

84 A chaos that Israel would prevail over though. Posted by: Kratos (missing from the side of Mt Olympus) at June 01, 2010 12:12 PM (9hSKh) That would be nice, and is certainly possible, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. In fighting the same war every 10 years since the inception of the state, Israel has never seen fit to actually bomb the capital of any of its enemies. THey bombed Beirut a little, but that was when Beirut was being bombed by everyone under the sun and the Israeli damage was nothing compared to what the Lebanese were doing. But Cairo, Damascus, Amman, ... never had any fear of Israel treating them like they were at war. The arabs are all too aware of this - not that the arabs even care if their cities and capitals get bombed. Such silly restraint does no good with arabs, as is evidenced by this war going hot every decade since the 1940's. If Israel were smart, they could, indeed, emerge from this problem in much stronger position. If. But, Israel has never fought a "war". Israel restricts itself to nothing but "defenses", and with arabs, that's a recipe for sure disaster. The fact that this flotilla even existed (only due to the incredible idiocy of the Gaza pullout) just goes to show how Israel can't help but get itself mired more deeply into a no-win situation. Sadly, Israel doesn't have the will to do what is needed. You'll see this as the next boats try to run the Gaza blockade. Israel will probably go heavily with tear gas and non-lethal methods, which only encourages the arabs and the lunatic left to push even harder.

The big thing in 2007, if you remember, was the Left pushing the idea Bush was antsy to strike Iran, which was bullshit.

They were spreading that rumor, and the lie that Iran was far from going nuclear, to make it like Bush was about to get us into another 'unnecessary' war.

107 You are absolutely right about that head start.  I've been conscious of that and glad for that, at least, for the past year and a half.

Starting with autumn, 2008, and the stock market plunge and the bailouts, then moving into Obama and his campaign (just by reading his web site, you knew we were economically screwed).

That's a long time to hunker down, my husband and I have been hunkering down since then.  By contrast, our liberal friends have practically been living in la-la land.  Their response to Obama's election was basically, "Oh, goodie, we're saved!"   I'm not kidding.

Now they're finally getting a bit nervous and impatient, especially since their personal fortunes have only worsened since then.

My husband and I have not only had a financial head start, we've also had more time to adjust to the reality, and come to terms with it psychologically.  And we had no illusions - we knew it would only get worse and worse.  That's why we've been scrimping and saving our little butts off for the past year and a half, and trying to pay off our mortgage.

Whereas it's just starting to dawn on our liberal friends that happy days aren't here again after all.

I'm not sure, though, that they'll ever blame anything on Obama or Democrats, or on any of their policies.  It'll take a lot longer to turn that ship around, for the folks we know.  Oh well.

You aint seen anthing yet.  The US Navy spent over $1 BILLION dollars on a new pay system that was never implemented!  Turns out after 5 years in development and numerous changes/upgrades it was all junk from the beginning, and it was never going to work.  CNO finally said enough and stop all further expenditures, but only after $1 Billion was wasted.
