— Ace Brazen and baiting -- check out his wink and grin as he says it. "I screwed you over, and now I'm giggling about it like a schoolgirl!"
The question and answer come at 3:15.
Captain Ed notes Crist is effectively attempting to turn a betrayal into some kind of virtuous positive.
I don't even think that's going to play well with RINOs. You have to really hate a party to get all excited about lying to them and thieving away their hard-won dollars. Most will find it slimy and self-serving, but I guess, as regards Charlie Crist, that information is already baked in the cake.

I can't decide if it's scary because we don't know what is in the works, or funny as hell because they don't even realize it is pissing people off. Or scary, because they know, but figure we'll just shut up and take it like good little citizens. Let us list the sycophants that will vote for Crist:
Teachers union members (teachers?)
Government employees (local, state and federal)
Those wonderful transplants from New Yawk (per Blazer)
and other self-identified "moderates" that are "Floridians first!" before they are Republicans or Democrats (or Americans, for that matter).
Crist has high name recognition, but that is his main asset. It is still months until the election, and either Meeks totally tanks or this moment is Crist's high water mark.

This fucker is so in love with himself, so supremely convinced of his own personal charm that he can't even imagine that he'd be rejected by the people of Florida.
Policy debates, principles, and positions are of secondary or tertiary importance, subjugated entirely to his conception of just what a swell guy Charlie is. Which is why this shitheel thinks he can ditch the party, because he's so fucking charming that the people will elect him no matter what he believes or doesn't believe.
That he was getting his head handed to him in the primary must have really shaken his self conception. And now, he has to run to prove to himself that the people still love him, not because he especially wants to be a senator.

The other thing Crist is being smart about is he's turning his backstabbing, independent bid into a way of making himself an outsider in a year in which voters are favoring outsiders. It's ridiculous as the establishment incumbent that he's doing this jiu-jitsu move on insurgent Rubio, but he is.
Hopefully he won't win, but his strategy is as golden as Doc Savage is bronze.

And the "God's money" quip? What the hell? Seems a bit sacrilegious. The idiots who don't pay much attention to politics, but then praise themselves for being "moderate." I've had people I know and even respect, but who I know are apolitical, tell me it's so wonderful that Crist has given them a chance for someone who "isn't on either extreme" or "cares about issues, not ideology." This, of course, makes me want to vomit, but this IS Florida we're talking about.

Christ would turn a box of Mrs. Paul's fishsticks and a loaf of Wonder Bread into a feast for thousands.
On the other hand, Crist is screwed. He cna't pull a rabbit our of his hat, and will indeed run out of money in a few months, and the charm of his "name recognition" will wear off.
To answer "ex-Dem", the teachers will vote for him because he "fought for them" as governor, just as he hugged Obama about the stim money, for the shiny train set that he was promised.
Our governor, Ted Strickland (Ohio) got all kinds of praise in the press when he came out about using the train stimulus money, and then normal people started to talk about what a boondoggle it was, and now nobody talks about it in Ohio. That's the way these creatures operate, and the reason why they must be voted out of office or we are all truly screwed and bankrupt.

Lawsuits against Crist for the non-returned donations will show him to be a weasel of the first order. Meeks will probably take some of that lead away from Crist as democrats realize that THEY can't trust Crist, either. Crist may withdraw after re-thinking his status as a pariah. Scandals may surface.

I predicted this too. Crist doesn't have a lot of time, though. His numbers will slip. What Crist has going for him is that Obama doesn't like independent black people. He doesn't mind having them around if they work for him. Look at Paterson, Burris and the fact that neither of his SCOTUS nominees, despite being lightweight token picks, were black.
#77: If you type Kendrick Meek into Google right now, you get "support Charlie Crist" as the top link. All of a sudden you have these scandals coming out about Meek.

You know, you have to think the GOP (or any other conservative group) can string together a video showing Crist declaring himself a conservative which can be contrasted with pics of him hugging Obama, saying that he would remain a GOP member and work for whoever won the primary, more video showing him declaring himself an independent and the video above showing him saying he was going to keep the money (with a smirk). A little voice over and it should be a killer ad.
As an alternative have some conservatives form a 501 (not sure if that's what it's called) group that runs ads that point out how great Crist would be as a liberal senator. Use that to draw off Dem votes.
Let's face it, this could be tons of fun.
