— Purple Avenger Apparently comrade Hugo has a burr up his ass and has severed diplomatic relations with Colombia over Colombia having the nerve to state the obvious to the OAS. That being of course that VE is, and has been for years, harboring/supporting Colombian rebels and their leadership.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez threatened on Sunday to cut off oil supplies to the United States if his country was attacked by U.S.-backed Colombia in a dispute over allegations that Venezuela provides a haven for Colombian guerrillas...The particulars of Colombia's accusations have been documented beyond question by multiple sources and reported on by numerous news agencies for many years now, so Chavez is essentially attempting to defend the indefensible by Bondo'ing it over with blustery bullshit and patent lies.
The only question at this point would be if the OAS will be intimidated enough by VE military power, and the clear lack of spine and obvious leftist sympathies in the current American junta, to the point that it has no choice but to downplay the plainly true Colombian accusations.
The risk in that seemingly lower risk path is the VE will feel emboldened to ratchet up its aggression against its island neighbors - the ABC (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao) islands being obvious next targets. Dominica has already fallen victim and lost a small uninhabited peripheral island to Chavez bullying a few years ago.

Hell why don't we "nationalize them". Don't we owe him a couple of "nationalizations"? The government can simply take them using Kelo, refuse to pay, and sell them to Exon and use the money to retire debt.

Where does Hugo plan on selling the oil to where it can be processed?

They have a few refineries in Venezuela. Belarus has one. Iran and China were building them, but I don't know how far they have gotten. Hugo needs to keep shitting on his country and his people. Maybe he can find himself in the same situation as Zelaya did in Honduras.

Zelaya got lucky, deposed dictators usually find themselves face down in shallow unmarked graves out in the jungle.

Hello Prime Minister Harper..You wouldn't happen to have some oil laying around you'd be interested in selling to the US....Great thanks!...How's Laureen?....Good good, and Ben and Rachel?....Awww aren't kids great? Anyway got to go talk to you later.

There Hugo, problem solved, throw your little temper tantrum. You can sell your oil to the Chinese, Canada can sell theirs to us, that's how it probably ought to be anyway.

You assume that Obama sees anything wrong with that. I'm pretty sure Obama has a level of admiration for any leftist thug "who get's things done".

well hopefully for Chavez he can find a way to feed and cloth his people with oil. If I am not mistaken, the united states is one of the only, if not the only, nation that has refinaries capable of processing Venezuelian heavy crude.

Don't forget Honduras, which stood fast against two lunatic dictators, Chavez and the Indonesian Imbecile.

Aw gee, what a loss.
Oil from Venezuela is the lowest grade oil that this country receives, which has caused some authorities on the issue to suspect that, for years now, oil refineries in the USA have been stupid enough to accept Venezuela's nearly useless oil sludge, while Venezuela sends their higher grade oil to China and to Cuba.
Venezuela's oil that we receive is somewhat like the filthy and heavily contaminated sludge that you drain out of your car's crank case when you change your car's oil. Maybe USA's refineries could collect, filter, refine and recyle that oil, instead of buying oil from Venezuela, ya think?
Americans are such suckers.

To boost the Venezuelan economy as a deterrant to communists who were attempting to take over that country, the Eisenhower Administration pressed for imports of Venezuelan oil, and Venezuela became a founding member of OPEC in 1960, also. In other words, the USA imported low grade, shitty oil from Venezuela to deter Communism, only to find that the determined Communists took over that country 40 years later anyway, making an excellent case for us to cease imports of shitty oil from that country, oil which we don't need anyway.
We don't owe those jackasses anymore favors. Let them slide into poverty worse than they're already experiencing under Hugo Chevez. Those fools and ingrates deserve to live in poverty and misery.
If God didn't mean for them to be sheared, He wouldn't have made them the stupidest sheep on this planet. (They have beautiful women, though. Oh Lordy, but do they have luscious women in Venezuela. Makes you wonder what God was thinking when He made their women beautiful and their men incredibly stupid.)

Yeah, it is shit oil, for sure. Got a friend that works for Saybolt that backs it up.
If only it was worn out Taxi sump oil, it would be a helluvalot better than what's pumped out and sent here to refine now.
