— Dave in Texas Because it undermines "global strategic stability."
Oh sorry, did we say "countries? We meant other countries, countries that are not the People's Republic of China." Those countries.
Meanwhile we think we'll just go ahead and test ours.
The Pentagon said it had not received prior notification of the test and declined to see any link with arms sales to Taiwan. However it confirmed that the test had taken place and was seeking more information."We detected two geographically separated missile launch events with an exo-atmospheric collision also being observed by space-based sensors," said Major Maureen Schumann, a Pentagon spokeswoman.
This likely confuses President Awesomeness as he is under the impression missile-defense is like, no big deal or anything.

OT but well worth the read:
What? An economist, who's touted the virtues of ObamaCare, is actually on the White House payroll? Say it ain't so, Joe Biden.

It's ok, it's not like they're selling nuclear parts to the Iranians, or anything unstable like that. I'm sure we can trust them.

Still 3 more years to go, so keep your fingers crossed that we'll be able to get back up to speed quickly come 2012.

I doubt Zero even realizes the significance of this. I doubt anyone in his gallery of imbeciles (cabinet) is capable of recognizing the significance of this event either. I expect no comment to be made by them, and no questions by his ass lickers in the MSM.
BTW, Big Journalism says that Fox News makes more money than all the other news groups combined. Do you think they think that is significant?

I had a prof in college who urged us to learn Mandarin instead of Spanish. His logic was that, while Spanish would be more useful in day-to-day life, the Chinese were the ones to impress if you wanted to get ahead in the future business landscape. It's either that or Hindi.

Plus, all those F-22s? Don't need 'em because no one else is working on anything even in its class.
I swear Jimmy Carter is walking around in a light-skinned, non-dialect speaking negro suit.

Heh. Back in ancient times (4 or 5 years ago) on a local MA blog, that was a huge talking point of the Libs. Literally thousands of posts over months or even years devoted to the "impossibility of hitting a bullet with a bullet", and so on. Plenty of self-declared scientists chiming in, the whole deal.
Being a Liberal must suck, you always end up being proven wrong in the long run.
Posted by: lincolntf at January 12, 2010 05:42 AM (rwlcW)
I suppose it's too much to hope that since he admires the Chicoms and their infrastructure and their way of governing without opposition so much, he'll change his mind about the awesomeness of missile defense since they have one.

Except that: THEY. NEVER. ADMIT. TO. BEING. WRONG.
I refer you to Exhibit A: The Cold War. What level of intellectual crapweasel MASTER does one have to be to go from "Ronald Reagan is going to kill us all!!!!" to "That whole collapse of the Soviets thing happened in spite of Ronald Reagan." without it causing grave spinal injuries?

No, they'll never admit they were wrong. That's a hazard of having such an emotional attachment to political ideas or politicians.
If you "love" a certain politician, or you feel especially close to him on a personal level, you're likely to tolerate it when he performs poorly or fails ethically. Kind of like you'd give a family member a "second chance" after he let you down. It is just an absurd way of thinking. The devout Obamites (for one example) don't realize that the relationship is an illusion, and that the only real part of it is the power accrued by Obama.

I love the smell of moron snark in the morning.
I am in an unbelievably foul mood after watching David "I play a Republican on TV" Gergen, while moderating the Massachusetts Senate debate, call the position "Teddy Kennedy's seat". To Scott Brown's credit, he called it "the people's seat."
We should not have nobility in this country--the Constitution says so. Political dynasties and a professional political class are going to ruin us.

I once had a teacher claim that the only reason the communists took over Laos and Cambodia is that WE had gone into those countries. The level of stupidity and/or willful disbelief required to believe crap like that is just astounding.

DING DING DING. The libs are fundamentally opposed to defending America, as they view us as the root of all that is evil in the world. They think the world is a better place with a more powerful China/Iran/other evildoers, because they will contain US.

Of course not. Why should they tell us anything? They're the new world power, and we're the has-been.
Oh well, it was a good run. I'm sure the Chicoms will be just as eager to sponsor the growth of democracy around the globe as the US was. There's no such thing as national character. We all want the same thing for the world.

Obama is going to un-invent the gun. Cuz he so awesome with hope and change.
Meanwhile, in Switzerland, crime is really really low - becasue everyone has a... GUN (and they know how to use it!)
Peace.
Obama is what happens when self-absorbed youths get to vote.

34 Democrats didn't oppose missile defence because they thought it's not gonna work. They opposed it because they thought it's gonna work.
And they still oppose it for the same reason. You see, Gloria Steinham was right: America needs a Democrat CiC like a fish needs a bicycle.
.... what?

I had a prof in college who urged us to learn Mandarin instead of Spanish.
I read an article in the news the other day about a school system in Wisconsin that is using "stimulus money” to offer a total emersion class in Mandarin.
We are already getting ready to surrender to the Chinese.

I had a prof in college who urged us to learn Mandarin instead of Spanish.
With Obama in charge, all we have to learn is "Whatever you say!"
Even that might not be needed since showing throat is a universal sign of surrender.

Vic, do you know the name of the school? There's an immersion school in Milwaukee already, they do Spanish, French, German, and Japanese. No big deal to add Mandarin...except the taxpayers of WI will have to pick up the cost to continue. !#$%^! porkulus.

The Taiwanese really just want to be left alone. But tyrants are always threatened by the mere existence of democracy. The mere existence of Taiwan is an affront to the arrogance of the Chinese.
