— Dave in Texas I think you got that backwards Chrissy.
More of the same stupid theme that started last week, stinking of flop-sweat and desperation over the coming election apocalypse. It's time to blame businesses for sitting on their hands and waiting out the uncertainty of future federal encumbrances. Jesus Christ, we're still trying to comprehend the impact of Obamacare, so pardon these entities that are possessed of the same survival instinct the rest of us have, for trying to stay alive while Congress keeps pondering new ways to grab more.
Idiot.

It's like the generic excuse used throughtout Atlas Shrugged:
It's not my fault!
If only businesses would spend more, if only people would pay more taxes, if only companies wouldn't let people go, if only unemployment would go up (unexpectedly), and if only etc...etc...etc...
It's really not the Messiahs fault, he cant be blamed for what happens when it's just bad luck and stupid people not doing what he says...

Since Matthews is out there bashing business, like a good little Democrat doggy, I take it Chrissy approves OF THIS?

Oh they like us know that money can be made like magic. Money is a fiction, has no intrinsic value, and will not feed a single person without farmers willing to work to obtain that fiction, won't house a single person without builders, won't clothe a single person without tailors....
In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "If you don't work you die."

When Democrats rail against "greedy corporations" - that's how they use propaganda to get the public to drool and nod in agreement.
"Greedy corporations are killing America" !!! Can you feel the hatred?
Yep. Private industry is killing America. Got that? Our wonderful unicorn hope and change government will now swing in and save us from all this evil corporate private enterprise. with...
"Card Check"! Then, unions take over -- as planned--, and private enterprise in America becomes a thing of the past.
Layer on top "ObamaCare"... oh how the democrats have damaged this nation in such little time.

I remember, growing up, the only "child proofing" we had in the house was electrical outlet covers. All this other stuff (door locks for your cabinets, bumpers for your coffee table, etc) didn't exist. Mostly what Mom and Dad said if we ran into the table was "Be more careful" and when we opened cabinets we weren't supposed to open we got spanked.
Fast forward 20-some years and my first kid was starting to walk, suddenly these same parents who told us to "be more careful" are trying to foist all this crap on us.
I tried for months just to avoid the subject or down-play it, but I finally lost my temper one day and said, "So, what? Does that mean you hated me as a kid? Or do you think my kid is to dumb to learn that it hurts to hit his head?"
The crap people think they "need" for their kids is really, really stupid.

The few things I found invented in the 9 year gap between the last two kids that I really liked was the wipe warmer, menthol baby bath (unplugs snuffiness) and the very best? disposable bibs. The only things you really need is a stroller, a car seat, some clothes, and diapers. I used but never needed a monitor--you could hear them down the block.

Meh.
I've told my wife more than once if she wanted to stop cooking, I could feed myself; that the grocery store stocks plenty of frozen burritos and vitameatavegamin for health. She insists on doing so anyway. Not my fault...

From my limited exposure, I don't believe them when they tell me that the paper they are printing is the Columbus Dispatch.

Heh, The Dispatch is completely neurotic when it comes to politics.
I think the entire editorial board suffers from split personality disorder.

Concerning that article about the college student videotaped in a "sexual encounter" and then committing suicide when it was leaked.
Didn't something similar happen to Ace in college, except it was the people who saw the tape committed suicide?

Wasn't there a movie about that? People watched the tape and then died a few days later when the horror really hit them.

My husband went through the cookbooks this weekend and then spent $300 on groceries for a bunch of great recipes. Unfortunately, the kids have somewhere to be at dinner time every single day this week.
Here's a conversation I had recently with 2 women: Woman1: "my husband is so neurotic, he insists on putting all the spices back in alphabetical order." Woman 2: "Haha, my husband just puts them back any old way". Me: "my husband doesn't know what spices are or if we have them."
I repeat this conversation to my husband who replies: "like garlic salt?"

Our youngest of 2 is a girl, and we have not bought half the crap we bought when her brother was born. And she could care less. Unfortunately, certain people had told me that girls were easier to raise than boys. Not at this age she isn't, she's a tsunami of stubborn belligerence - she's all sweetness to her day care teachers, but at home, her true personality comes out.
Dressing her in the morning (my wife works an early shift) is a weird combination of showing multiple shirts and choosing the one she least objected to (other than the one she wore to bed), then free-form grappling to get her dressed. And all the while she's laughing her head off. The shoes are routinely removed and thrown around. At this point, I drop her off at day care then put her shoes on. Then breakfast, which only makes the cats happy since she likes to fling her food about.
But she is still Hime-chan to me.

I solved this with number 1 and have repeated my success with numbers 2 and 3. High top chuck taylor's ---they make cute little pink ones, some of them all girled up too. Get the high top on in the morning. Double knot. They can't get them off if you've tied it right. Shoe problem solved. Had to do that to stop the throwing of shoes in the car and grocery store.

Heh. With the first one, everything had to be new, of course. Only the best for my little one. With each child that mindset goes progressively downhill.
Some friends from church said "Hey we've got a crib." Cool. It's in pretty good shape. The mattress is immaculate, but it's so old it literally has a tag saying "This mattress specially treated to resist cigarette burns".

I would love the frozen burrito option and mr. dagny would probably do it. Problem arises with the cabal created with the boys, all football/lax players: ages 18, 15, and 6. That's 3 cans of biscuits for one meal. I have to cook or go broke.
I've found pasta to be extremely cost effective.
A box of barilla pasta where i live is 10 for 10 dollars. Each box feeds 3 or so people. It says 6-8, but that is BS as I live alone and tend to eat an entire box in two dinners.
You can get sauce for 3 or so dollars and bread for 2-3 bucks.
So that is an entire meal for 3 people for about 7 bucks.

Great Value Brand at WalMart. A buck.
Since you have to screw with any canned sauce to make it edible, anyway, buy your spices at a dollar store. They all have them.

Maybe it's time to teach them how to bake their own potatoes in the microwave....By that age I could fry them. My mom gave me open range to all the potatoes and eggs I could eat (that I of course had to prepare myself) if dinner was insufficient.

Chris Mathews worked in the Carter Administration, and I'm guessing that was his previous starry-eyed leg-tingle. And when everything went to crap, the first time, he wondered why the gods conspired against his hero.
Having it happen a second time has got to be a bitch, and so he performs wild gymnastics of logic.

71 51- Yes, the amount of stuff made for kids now is stupid.
The crap people think they "need" for their kids is really, really stupid.
allen g
There was 7 of us. One a year. The only thing they child-proofed was the liquor cabinet, the gun cabinet, and the cabinet where they kept the chocolate and the good knives.
132 I no longer go to 7-11s because I don't speak Indian.
