Yeah but MSNBC execs have said that he's their tentpole or something.
Yeah, looks like as with other parts of him, he can longer raise the tent.

What? Now? They've noticed that he's a problem now?
With his huge salary and low ratings, he should have been dead man walking months ago. The only question should be, at what point is it most profitable to buy out his contract and take that financial hit?

Okay, what has the hurting NBC recently learned?
They learned there ARE viewers out there if they show the right product. In this case it's the Olympics.
NBC is getting huge ratings with the Olympics and now they're faced with the sad reality of going back to the same shitty ratings with the same old shitty programs.
NBC, if they're smart, will change. If they wanna make money, they'll change. Carrying the water for Obama and catering to 500k moonbats is killing them.

Any of the former Air America talent perhaps?
I believe most of those talented dynamos are already on MSNBC (Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow). The stultifyingly unfunny Stephanie Miller manages to keep chirping away against vastly superior ratings, and her format is completely unsuited to television.

1) Malice.
2) Aforethought.
If three or four or eight Republicans all sue Keith Olbermann simultaneously for libel I feel relatively sure that all the other journalists will get the fucking point that spending the rest of your career in court probably isn't in your long-term best interests.
Also, Republicans should ensure that GE is cut out of all contracts in the future as much as can be made possible legally; seeing as how that company has gone over to the dark side.
Time to call out the trust-busters.

You reap what you sow, and Olbermann's been sowing for a while.
After his Scott Brown outbursts, I read, I believe Jonah Goldberg, at The Corner say flat out that Olbermann is a horrible human being. Kinda shocking for him to have just put it out there like that.
But he's right. Olbermann is simply a bad person, and after a while, only other miserable folks could be attracted to his show. (cough, Jeanine Garofalo, cough)
He can not be gotten rid of soon enough.

Yeah, but they're still a publicly held company. They're hemhoraging money. Comcast is too well-run to put up with that. They don't care about the content - it could be clowns, acrobats, jugglers, and the guy spinning plates on sticks, as long as its putting asses in the seats. (Wait, a minute..that's what's on now..)

MSNBC is nothing but a symbol of the deterioration and corporatization of media anyway. Its owned by GE for fucks sake. Talk about a so-called "liberal bias"...
And if the media is supposedly "biased" why would they consider getting rid of Keith Olbermann?
It doesn't matter about ratings anyway, nobody watches the cable networks besides middle-aged centrist losers. So who cares?
Olbermann is a victim of more racist corporatist propaganda. You're all fucktards.

My hunch is that when GE owned NBC, they accepted the bad ratings as a loss leader to keep King Barry happy, promote him, and in turn get huge bailouts for GE Capital, huge no-bid contracts for GE's healthcare, power generation, and jet engine divisions. Not to mention some sort of cash for clunkers with GE appliances. Now that Comcast owns them, they want a return on investment

Difference - Olbermann rakes in 7.4 large a year. Ed and Chrissy don't rake in half that combined. Ed and Crissy don't embarress you by getting into on air fights with other, err, "talent". Difference - Ed and Chrissy listen to management. Last year, Charlie Rose, of all friggin people, negotiated a truce between Fox and MSNBC where O'Reilly would stop blasting GE and Olbermann would stop the stupid fued with O'Reilly. Queen Olbermann promptly, once the story was reported, started blasting away.
I remember hearing that Piss Matthews pulls in five million a year. I wonder if NBC uses that as a tax write off.
Piss also got into hot water with the brass for slap fighting with Keef during the 2008 election. Remember? They pulled Keef and Piss and stuck the dude that now does Meet the Press in there (I think).
Their whole lineup sucks. Someone should take a flamethrower in there and clean out the garbage. Or Muslim terrorists should fly an airplane into NBC headquarters. That's one terrorist attack I wouldn't want to avenge.

Hi illtemperedcur. You raise a good point however I think the difference here is that the MSNBC staff have nowhere to go. If ComCast decides to clean house they can start raiding Fox and keep the some of the current staff providing they tow the line. CNN and HLN are unlikely to pay the big bucks for Olberman and Maddow et al. I also think that while they may try to play a union card ComCast is likely to make the change (if they do) quickly to forestall any attempts to block the process.
Don't know if it will happen but it sure is nice to think about. I also have the odd fantasy about seeing Lorne Michaels and Seth Myers from SNL fired and replaced by PJ O'Rourke. I need to get more.

First, he referred to his dad getting dialysis through a port. Dialysis patients do not use ports. They use catheters, fistulas or grafts. Cancer patients use ports. They are totally and completely different. You would think the "healthcare proxy" for a patient would know what was going on. His father was using a catheter. That's the normal thing installed when a patient is not doing long-term dialysis.
Second, he talked about the nurses coming in and changing his port. You don't change a catheter. Normally, it is inserted in a vein that connects directly to one of the vena cavas. In my case, it was in the subclavian vein (a large vein running along the collarbone and connecting to the superior vena cava in my neck. The external part of the catheter was located near my shoulder with it extending about 12 inches to my neck. It had to be put in surgically. While it can be removed easily, a new one would have to be installed in an operation.
Finally, he talked about his dad being puffed up at times. If that was the case, it is the fault of those around him. Dialysis patients are on strict fluid restrictions (4 cups per day.) Hospital staff won't give them fluids beyond that. The puffiness is caused by excess fluid build up in the body which can only be caused by someone giving the patient too much to drink. There are some meds which can cause this, but my impression is that dialysis fixed the problem which leads me to my conclusion.

Thanks. Except for my kidneys, everything else works fine. I am fortunate in that I can do dialysis at home. I do it 6 days a week instead of the normal three, but it means I have full control over my treatment, I am getting more treatment which is a good thing, and it is more efficient that standard in-center treatment. It is time-consuming, but I feel better than I did when I was going in three times a week.

I could muster interest in the content of Keefums suck-starting a 9mm live on his last show. As for his personal life, he's not the sort who often gets more than one date with any adult female, so any perversion is very likely to fall into the category of things I really don't want to know about.
If he does get fired, he is running out of options on where to go. You know it won't be back to Fox, or any Disney property. As one of the ESPN flacks commented years ago about his departure from the Worldwide Leader, "he didn't just burn his bridges, he napalmed them".

GE is essentially a hedge fund posing as a company, like GMAC (of GM), GE made huge leveraging, and those leverages are bleeding huge losses, which ecplise any profits of their divisions that actually do make things. ZeroHedge had a great article about it.
And NBS being a big part of GE peddled to the candidate -- the MEssaih--that would secure loans for them, about 100 billion in safety nets, hence the lapdog like behavior.
MSNBS -- stopped wathcing it in 2008 and cancelled it form my satellite dish, same goes for CNN, cBS and NBS. I can get real news from the internet, why the hell would I pay to hear lies?

Of course, he overlooks many things, many which he cannot admit, like Limbaugh's substance and true skill as a broadcaster. He also can't understand that, of the 50% that goes Democrat, at least 20% of that isn't of the spit-flecked Left, they're Joe Six-packs who buy all the populist nonsense the Dems coat themselves in, and that that the soft Left and hard Left are already divvied up amongst all the other Leftwing news sources, so much so that they're used to hearing spin to reinforce their worldview. Limbaugh was counter-programming from the word 'go.'
It's funny that Limbaugh was taunted alternately with 'Clinton won, your viewpoint is dead' or 'Your guys won, so you won't have anybody to oppose and you'll have nothing to talk about' throughout the years, and never loses numbers. Olby still rails against Bush and Republicans, but this supposed Golden Age of Unicorn-based Prosperity has really left him dead in the water.
I imagine Queef in a few years will be something similar to Bob Euker's character in 'Major League,' a floundering dolt in a dead-end job who is bitter and really doesn't give a damn anymore.

What I don't get, is why is it such a major slam to have a degree in agriculture?
It's not. The slam is that he unhooked his diploma from the wall, carried it out of his apt, down the elevator, into his towncar, into 30 Rock, up to his office, and onto his set, where he sadly displayed it in a last ditch effort of self-importantce.
And therein lies the problem.
Posted by: laceyunderalls at February 28, 2010 05:30 PM (v8KYa)
It's not! Not even a little bit. And his degree is not an ag degree. The problem is that there are two Cornells - one is the Ivy League school and the other is a state land grant agricultural college. Queef got his degree from the latter, but pretends he got his degree from the former. It's his lying bullshit that people mock, not the school itself or any degree it confers.

I get that keif is a major douche bag. And I get that he pretends to be way more than he is. What I don't get, is why is it such a major slam to have a degree in agriculture? I don't think any degree means you're all that, but mine's in Ag, and I don't usually take a back seat to anyone in a conversation. Would it be less of a slam if his degree was in journalism or political science, or what?
Posted by: TheGhostWhoWalks at February 28, 2010 09:27 PM (nmg4C)
Because it really, really bothers him thats why. He tries to come off as an uber-intellectual Ivy Leaguer in the elitist circles he travels in. Ann Coulter got so far up in his head he had to bring his degree on the air one night just to show the world it said Cornell on it.

OT:
CHICAGO -- Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan claims the "white right" is trying to make Barack Obama a one-term president.
The 76-year-old says the stalling of health care legislation is proof.
Farrakhan is addressing followers of the Chicago-based movement that has embraced black nationalism since its founding. Sunday's keynote speech is before an estimated 20,000 people on the last day of the group's Saviours Day convention.
Looks like Obama is calling out the brown shirts. 'Cause ya know, like crack, the white man made Obama do it. Louie Farrakhan might have a point if I didn't remember that Hilary Clinton tried the same shit and was opposed. History, it's a bitch.

I remember watching that on CSPAN back in the nineties and him saying something along the lines that everyone in TNOI should worship him and Elijah Muhammed as sort of a holy trinity with Allah and clearly remember the gasps that went out through the crowd. In the Middle East that would have bought him a car bomb or a hail of gunfire for heresy.
