CNN: GOP Leads in Generic Congressional, 48-45
— Ace

In Soviet Union, balls dip YOU!

It's 48-45 with mere registered voters.

With all adults -- all respondents -- the GOP still leads by a titch, 46-45.

Write Up: Geoff tells me that Rick "Manslaughter" Sanchez isn't talking about this.

Democrats face a growing enthusiasm gap in this year's battle for Congress, according to a new national poll.

...

Forty-nine percent of Republicans questioned in the poll say they're extremely or very enthusiastic about voting this year, up 6 points from November. Thirty-one percent of Democrats say they're enthusiastic, down 11 points.

...

According to the survey, 48 percent of registered voters say they would vote for the Republican candidate for Congress, with 45 percent saying they'd back the Democrat. The 3-point edge for the GOP is within the poll's sampling error - but it's a switch from November, when the Democrats held a 50 to 44 percent advantage....

"That 3-point difference doesn't sound too bad for the Democrats, but the party's numbers are boosted by high levels of support in districts that the GOP has no chance of winning this year," says Holland. "In safe Democratic districts, the Dems have a 21-point advantage over the GOP."

I likes it.

Thanks to AHFF Geoff.

16 If you look at LV, you probably still get an undercount, as the most reliable group of all--senior citizens--will be much more GOP-leaning this fall than in the past. Also, LV computation usually bases whether you are likely to vote on your record in the last election. Lots of young punks voted for Zero last fall, but will be hitting their bongs this year instead. That will surprise people, just as it did in 1994.

You should be. Don't think for a second the Left will not stop at anything to win this election. Whatever it takes, they'll do it.

People are using NJ as an example to show the GOP can win despite the cheating. Well, I don't think the Left thought they'd lose that election so they really didn't put a lot of effort into stealing it. Plus, ACORN was getting a lot of bad press and they really couldn't afford to stick their necks out and risk more bad publicity.

MA has been such a Democratic-locked stronghold for so long, there was never a need to rig ballots.

Consequently, the MA Dems likely don't have the expertise and machinery in place to do this, and at this 1tth hour, its probably too late to develop it.

Until they stop blaming candidates and start blaming their own party's incumbents, they will keep losing. Unfortunately, the air cover provided by the media since 2006 has enabled them to reify their fantastical belief that a Congress with an approval rating lower than any other in history is actually on the right track and the voters are simply saying, "Faster, please!" That and the fact that 57 percent of Zero supporters thought Republicans were still running Congress last year.

OT sorta; Leave Rasmussen Alone!  @ HA

As pollsters for two Democratic presidents who served before Barack Obama, we view this unprecedented attempt to silence the media and to attack the credibility of unpopular polling as chilling to the free exercise of democracy.

This is more than just inside baseball. As practicing political consultants, both of us have seen that the established parties try to stifle dissent among their political advisers and consultants. The parties go out of their way to try to determine in advance what questions will be asked and what answers will be obtained to reinforce existing party messages. The thing most feared is independence, which is what Mr. Rasmussen brings.

Mr. Gibbs’s comments and the recent attempts by the Democratic left to muzzle Scott Rasmussen reflect a disturbing trend in our politics: a tendency to try to stifle legitimate feedback about political concerns—particularly if the feedback is negative to the incumbent administration

132 Guys, this is what they are going to make a big deal out of in the Coakley/Brown race.  Whether or not the banksters should be taxed.  They want the American people to get angry with the banksters and recent them for their success and be willing to tax them and therefore they would be taxing themselves.  WS has always worked on bonuses with little money in salary.  If they can't freely make money how will the economy ever expect to come back?   This is going to be the one issue that BO picks when he comes to rescue maid martha on his white horse and Brown has to educate the people of MA as to the reasons why he is against this tax.

Maybe they think that people are only going to vote for Brown to stop Obamacare.  so they are prempting this by trying to demoralize those voters into taking an "all is lost" stance and not bothering to turn out for Brown.  So, if they have the boots on the ground to get out the dem vote and if they can intimidate enough republicans and independents into not voting or feeling so intimidated that they turn around when they get there, then they may feel they can win.

165 The Dems are prepared to lose in 2010 as long as it provides more power to them in the future. Lose the battle but win the war, so to speak. Not to mention, alot of Dems have already killed their political careers by voting for healthcare. Take Ben Nelson for example. Even if healthcare were to fail, he is still dead politically. The unfortunate bottomline is that the Dems have nothing to lose by "going nuclear" and embracing reconciliation. Expect the unexpected.

This is a horrible idea that might sound good to some but which will make the situation worse. It will help further braindrain Haiti, it will increase their dependence on the U.S., and it will reduce the chances of reform.
Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, both Democrats, and (Representatives Lincoln Diaz Balart and Mario Diaz Balart) of south Florida, both Republicans, as well as John C. Favalora, the Roman Catholic archbishop of Miami... "If this is not a slam-dunk case for temporary protected status, I donÂ’t know what is," said Kevin Appleby, a spokesman for the bishops. He said the status would allow Haitian immigrants here to work here and send money back to relatives in Haiti trying to recover from the quake.

Appleby's proposal is at heart immoral: he would encourage Haiti to become even more dependent on the U.S. than they already are and he would embed that dependence in their society, instead of encouraging them to develop their own commerce.

sorta O/T:
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress.   Many citizens had no idea that Congress members could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws.  The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its' forms.  Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that.  It is an idea whose time has come.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law that  applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ".

Is Ace ever going to get off of his stupid "ball dipping" jag? What is he trying to do, make the "tea-bagging" slur seem legitimate? This is idiotic.

More important for Ace, it is getting stale, trite, unoriginal and NOT WORTHY of his genius.

195 The Democrats are so arrogant after their runaway victories in '08, that they think they can bribe, steal, and muscle their way to any victory.  They actually think because they are in incumbents, they are immume to defeat. Something like Napoleon was.

Maetenloch is more recognizable than those hacks.

I'll bet people here would rather hear about MY GUITARS than have to watch that Lesbian.  And when I say Lesbian, I'm referring to Matthews.

I understand that NELSON understands what his actions are going to cause.

HIS RETIREMENT.

But I'm sorry, he asked for and agreed to the BRIBE.  The crime is not actually taking the BRIBE it is seeking it and agreeing to it.

Reid was offering it in exchange for NELSON's VOTE.

The crime was committed.   Nelson changed his mind, when he realized what the wages of sin ARE.

Freedom. Freedom from people who don't like Obama, is the Democrats cry.  They hope in 2012 to do exactly that. Massive taxation would be law after that immense expanse of more congresspeople in their favor. Stop them now....MA is the first congressional stop.
