Check out their homepage today (screencapped image).

Note the placement. Also, well, gee, why are they exploring the "history of intolerance" in America right now, I wonder?

1 I mean was 9-11 such a big deal anyway? Nobody in Atlanta got hurt.

Also, well, gee, why are they exploring the "history of intolerance" in America right now, I wonder?

Must be that one or two conservatives in America proved themselves willing to voice an unpopular opinion again.  Maybe somebody talked about the need for people to stand on their own two feet rather than rely on the tax payer.  Those things usually inspire a fit of hand wringing among the limp-wristed do-gooders.

Posted by: Reactionary at August 22, 2010 02:02 PM (4nbyM)

3 Yeah really, 9/11 was nothing much considering that Muslims have to be around sub-humans like us all the time, and that really harshes their mellow.

18 The CLAM (Coordinated Liberal Agenda Media) is at it again.  The backlash (and it *is* coming) will eventually eviscerate the MFM.  We will return to the days when every newspaper and magazine came with its own agenda, with no effort made to disguise it.  And the circulation of our vehicles will clobber the circulation of their crap.

25 Subtle, subtle! Wonder if CNN is using subliminal images of peace-loving Muslims planting flowers on the graves of 9/11 victims on their TV broadcasts?

Seems to me the one difference between media bias in the past and today is that so many in the media are marching in lockstep these days. I have a feeling there was a greater range of differing views in the "old days."

Fucks News will be next. Their broadcasts are leaning more and more to the true "fair and balanced" definition of 2010: what the lefty, America-hating loons say must be given undue respect and extra weight. Bill O'Reilly and the Sunday goon squad are leading the charge; there are times when Megyn Kelly looks downright squishy, too, and not in a good way.

The Left Doesn't Give A Shit About Religious Freedom--This Is About Saying Fuck You To Christians

– A Christian photographer in New Mexico was found guilty last week of breaking state law for refusing to take pictures of a lesbian ceremony.

Elaine Huguenin of Elane Photography was contacted in 2006 by a same-sex couple wanting pictures taken of their “commitment ceremony.”

After Huguenin told them she only photographed traditional marriages, the couple filed a complaint for discrimination against their sexual orientation.

The case was taken before the New Mexico Human Rights Commission, which heard the case in January.

On Wednesday, the state commission ruled that Huguenin violated the stateÂ’s Human Rights Act. An order was issued for the photographer to pay close to $7,000 for the coupleÂ’s attorneyÂ’s fees.

The Christian-based Alliance Defense Fund plans to appeal the ruling.

“Christians in the marketplace should not be penalized for abiding by their beliefs anymore than anyone else should,” ADF Senior Counsel Jordan Lorence said. “The Constitution prohibits the state from forcing unwilling people to promote a message they disagree with and thereby violate their conscience.

91 On Wednesday, the state commission ruled that Huguenin violated the stateÂ’s Human Rights Act. An order was issued for the photographer to pay close to $7,000 for the coupleÂ’s attorneyÂ’s fees.

There is so much wrong with this it is pathetic. IS this not the Canadian Human Rights Commission that we all said could not happen here because it would be blatantly unconstitutional?

In addition, when did a commission become a court capable of levying a fine which is the equivalent of a felony?

The real problem is that it would cost these photographers in excess of 100K to fight this and they know it. This is how the assholes who pass these kinds of laws get by and they just pile up further and further.

Imagine this happening in New Mexico 100 years ago before it was overrun with yuppies and assholes from CA.  100 years ago if such an insane commision did get formed and they told someone to pay a 7K fine the someone would tell them to kiss their ass and come get it.

I just can not believe that people are submitting to this kind of crap.

While ya'll are bashing on Father Coughlin who was a true communist keep this in mind. He was giving the semi-communist FDR a hard time. At the time he was VERY popular.

FDR had the FCC created for the sole purpose of squashing him. They then required Coughlin to be "licensed" for his radio show. Of course they refused a license and shut him down. Eventually driving him out of business.

So FDR had no qualms what so ever in silencing his speech and everyone simply looked the other way. Of course by then FDR had already stacked the court so he never had a chance.

212 16 What's with the sub-headline: "Superheros are Islam-inspired"

WTF?!

Posted by: Techie at August 22, 2010 06:09 PM (zbH+i)

I followed the link to CNN Opinion, and an "appropriate" article. Selected excerpts (bold & underline mine):

"Editor's note: TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to "Ideas worth spreading," which it makes available through talks posted on its website. Naif Al-Mutawa, who was trained as a clinical psychologist, created a comic series called "THE 99," with superheroes based on Islamic archetypes. The series is coming to television in the U.S. and THE 99 heroes will be in a joint comic book this fall with Superman and other Justice League heroes."

. . . . . . . . . . . .

"Islam came of age at a time of open warfare between what was loosely called Arabia and the occupying Roman Byzantine Empires. It was a religion for the willing believer, further steeled by the Christian Crusades of the 11th and 12th centuries and the Medieval, Papal and Spanish Inquisitions."

Naif Al-Mutawa is doing a [Muslim] comic book; Marvel-style drawings (see the provided picture at the article), with superheroes based on the 99 attributes of Allah

There some spin here, both in the CNN article, and implicitly in the comic book.

1a. Islam came of age well before the Crusades and the Inquisition; at least 300 years before.  The Crusades and Inquisition were in fact direct responses to a couple hundred years of muslim aggression.

1b. Casually not mentioned are the facts that Christianity was essentially non-violent for it's first 300 years of existence, then the religion of the Eastern and Western Roman Empires (and their peoples and armies), but not the reason for military operations. Until, of course,

~641AD, when Alexandria fell (630s: Antioch and Damascus fell)

674 to 678 Muslim siege of Constantinople

711AD, when the muslim conquest of Spain began

717 to 718 Muslim siege of Constantinople

732 Battle of Tours, near Poitiers,  where Charles Martel stopped Abd ar Rahman's invasion of France

965 Arab Sicily, but reconquered in 1072

1095 when the First Crusade answered the previous 400 years of muslim aggression

(in case anyone is keeping score)

2. Marvel-style drawings: essentially, all superheroes and superheroines are drawn wearing tights (i.e., essentially a nude form).  The picture shows a female, uncovered face, figure, head, .... and with about 2 feet of hair.

arbalest, regarding your responses, it should be noted that the region of Arabia from which Islam emerged was not under control by the Byzantines but rather "barbarian lands" not formally part of any empire or other organized polity.  Note how subtly they want to spin Islam and Muhammad's conquests as a "resistance movement" against the Byzantine Empire.  (To be fair, one reason Islam spread so quickly initially at the expense of the Byzantine Empire was widespread discontent among the peasants.

Sounds really obtuse.  I guess that's the trend for monuments these days.  Make sure no one knows what the hell the monument is supposed to commemorate without reading the guidebook.

A great example is the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin.  http://tinyurl.com/299bn88 It's 200-something blocks of concrete in a large plot of land near the site of the Fuhrerbunker.  The number doesn't mean anything; it seems to be an effort to be enigmatic for the sake of being modern and non-literal.  I thought it was a complete misfire as far as evoking any feelings beside "WTF???"

Posted by: progressoverpeace at August 22, 2010 06:45 PM

One reason the flow into the USA is so strong -- never mind all the free stuff for the "oppressed" -- is that we no longer expect anyone to assimilate. There was a time, and I think anyone over about 50 can remember it, when people were expected to learn English, accept the customs and laws of our society, and generally act as if they really wanted to be here.

There was also a time (within the same period) when resident aliens were expected to report their address, status, etc. annually.

We need to stop bending over backward to accommodate malcontents from everywhere -- in the name of "inclusion," which is a blatant lie -- and expect would-be Americans to act like Americans instead of (in some instances, like a lot of Muzzies) backward savages who expect to be allowed to run free and live at our expense, financially and morally.

It used to work. Italians were still Italians, if they wished, but were also Americans. Ditto for the Irish, Japanese, etc.

Immigration would drop way the hell down, too.

I'm trying not to hate the little douchebag, because he's had a fucked up life with his Quaker, libtard elitist mother and her several marriages.  But I've warned every damned member of D'oh's family, and my own lib sister, to leave my kid alone when it comes to their crazy-assed politics.

Now I'm ready to give a long-deserved smack-down to the fuckwit.

I'm there, Jane.  Let me gather up my son-in-law's (the Marine, currently in Afghanistan while my daughter is here and about 18 months pregnant) mom, grandma, and great-grandma, and we'll be right there.  Son-in-law has a brother in the Army, just got to Iraq, and their daddy just retired from the Army after 21 years.

We'll make your hubby's nephew cry in about 4.3 seconds...

I have always wondered why the original live coverage on 9/11 was not replayed annually as a reminder of the day.

Those few pieces I've seen have been horrible to watch, but I recall much, much more from that morning.

I suspected -- and still suspect -- that orders came down from various "enlightened" people that subjecting Americans to the true happenings would be "provocative" or "insensitive to peace-loving Muslims" or some such shit, but I think many of us need to rekindle the rage.

I also remember a report from Paris during Desert Shield (or Storm, not sure) showing young Kuwaitis in Paris driving their expensive cars down the streets honking, waving and yelling about "we will drive the invaders from our land." Haven't seen that one again, either. People might have felt different about liberating Kuwait if they saw the punk kids of the ruling elite partying it up thousands of miles away....

Posted by: Lincolntf at August 22, 2010 04:39 PM (b09DL)

326 To Jane D'oh:

My wife and I (principally my wife) have been friends with some liberal assholes I cannot stand - but hitherto I've been prepared to maintain the relationship because they are, after all, my wife's friends.

Today, there is a young 14 yr old girl in Iran who has been condemned to death by stoning, having been found 'guilty' of adultery. Her parents were away from home when she e-mailed them he had been raped (in her home). The Iman in applying Sharia law, found the man who raped her was in the home, thus he MUST have been invited therein, and thus the sex was 'consensual.' Hence the verdict of death by stoning.

My wife's friend gave me the the spiel "all religions are equal; this is just a different culture we have to respect, etc., etc. While we mightn't like a verdict calling for death by stoning, we really have to accept it because that is what Islam requires,"

I told this useless bitch:  "You have been friends with my wife for 30+ years. However,  I am telling you, NEVER  call us again; NEVER contact us again; I want nothing to do with you EVER AGAIN.  You are morally  reprehensible beyond all redemption. You are a useless piece of shit who absolutely refuses to see the barbarism involved, because then you would have to make a moral decision.  To the contrary, you are more than prepared to prostitute yourself to whatever degree is necessary simply  to prove how 'liberal' you are. Unfortunately, your 'progressivism' has condemned a 14 year old girl to a monstrous death. However, I DO understand how proud you must be in seeing the 'overall big picture' and praising Islam as the Religion of Peace, and lecturing  the rest of us that "all religions are equal - including Islam."

Was there a shocked, embarrassed  silence after my words?.....You betcha! Would I say those same words again?   You betcha! It felt GREAT!!!!!

I guess what I'm telling you Jane D. is the time has come, indeed long since past, where we make any sort of apology for what we know is morally right. Why should we feel ANY sense of embarrassment in 'calling out' the moral reprobates in our midst?

You know who looks like crap?  Burt Reynolds.  That man should stay off television, he looks like death warmed over.  He popped up on Burn Notice and recently on some ad/promo for an NFL show.  Ick.

With the notable exception of Robert Redford, who I confess is pretty hawt, most of the classically good-looking actors are brunettes (very dark brown hair or black hair).  That's my thesis, anyway.

Tolerance is a cornerstone of our country's principles, isn't it? Unfortunately, we constantly send an open invitation to our coutry's enemies to live among us. It is wrapped up beautifully with pretty bows and gold leaf wrapping paper by useful idiots, the MFM and our current administration. I have read that "it isn't a matter of if, but a matter of when" as far as the next devestating attack on our soil. That attack won't exactly require military genius on par with Alexander the Great. Unless every extremist decides to even the playing field by coming forward and saying, "Hi, I am an extremist", the theater of this war is not level. Progressive liberals use our own principles against us.

Tolerance is being used against us, and that is where it seems a genius is involved. What is amazing is the absolute complicity the MFM seems to show. I submit that the genius behind it are spiritual powers and principalities. There really isn't (to me) a plausible explanation for the blind complicity we are all that pervades and underlies the progression toward the destruction of western civilization. And it is masked brilliantly with the desire to Love our neighbors. Which is another example of using our own principles against us. When I look and consider it with an open mind , I see some of these Bible prophecy buffs making a really good case staing that the Lord communicated history before it happened in order to let it be known that He is who He says/said He is.

I think of it as the geopolitical Rubik's cube of history and current events. How many sides are complete? Okay, I guess the "Doomsday Clock" is a bit simpler, but lookie what time the experts say it is!

No solutions from me, just another stupefied American watching this unfold and wondering "what next?". Old Hal Lindsey doesn't look so kooky to me, but, then again I am just another person suffering from ASS. Kinda like SAD, but, somedays I just feel like ASS.
