College Gameday Thread
— Dave in Texas

Here's where we tell each other how much we really appreciate one another, oh and also your team sucks canal water.

Big matchups today between Ohio State (2) and Miami (12) at 3:30 EDT, FSU (17) at Oklahoma (10), same time. Georgia (22) and South Carolina (24) at noon.

Here's a cute Buckeye.

BUCKEYE-CHEERLEADER.jpg

Buckeyes are those things on her top that the laces go through. A friend of mine from Ohio told me that.

"Damn, after seeing that Buckeye photo, I wonder how many other college cheerleader outfits are looking more like the NFL's?"

After what I saw from the visiting team at my son's HS game last night, I'd say it's probably already all over the college world already.

Also, after what I saw last night, I realized just how much I need to denounce myself.  I'm just glad it was a good game...

btw, I never cared for cheerleaders.  Blame it on my HS football team's cheer-leading squad.  The few times I was on the sidelines after a series (I played both ways...no, not like that sickos, , I was cheering louder for our team then they were.

/I think I even yelled "nuke them" a few times from the sidelines.

I remember seeing the Rock on (what was then) the WWF during those strange teenage years when I watched professional wrasslin'.  He was a great performer in the ring, wish I could say the same about his movie acting career.

He looks good.  He's definitely kept in shape and I dig the goatee.

Well, we got us a pretty good one here in KS. KU/Georgia Tech. GT is rated #17, and I have no idea where KU is rated. In fact, KU lost last week (6-3) to a team they should have walked over. Then the Athletic Director resigned effective immediatly on Tuesday morning.

That being said, KU is taking on GT; and at the moment winning. 21-17 early in the 3rd.

146 As a 'Nole fan (and semi-'Nole alum, heh) there could be some cool symmetry today:

FSU's loss in the championship game after the 2000 season marked the end of the Bobby Bowden dynasty with its probably unbreakable record of consecutive Top 5 finishes.

That loss was to Oklahoma.

Next year, aside from the obvious (the 9/11 attacks which affected every team), FSU was crippled by Chris Rix.

If the Seminoles can beat Oklahoma again this 9/11, today, maybe they will have turned the page and can come back.

I have to say when the announcement was made the reaction around these parts was underwhelming.  Most Big Ten people still think of Penn State as a poor relation in spite of the fact that they're heads and tails above most of the other schools in the league footballwise.

If the OSU cheerleaders look suspiciously like professional streetwalkers, rest assured that some wealthy alum slush fund did in fact recruit professional streetwalkers. There is no athletic institution in all of sport, academic or professional, that cheats so heartily as THE Ohio State University. They are a shame to the game of football in the state of Ohio, and their other teams are just as bad. Street thug felon on the sex-crime list? No prob. Put on this helmet.

They call it THEE because Ohio University, Athens, is a lot older, and used to be called "Old State" affectionately by its grads. True: a hundred thousand enrollees, unlimited secret budgets that would make the CIA jealous, and they still have an inferiority complex.

Wake Forest found a new QB in a freshman named Tanner Price (despite the fact that the starting QB was a rushing workhorse for the first TD drive) who can hum the ball and consistently make 5-10 yard runs. Duke's QB was even better, and some of their receivers were sick, but both defenses were of the bend, then break, then fall down and cry, variety. Go Notre Dame! Go Boston College!

214 Also, solid win for my Blue Hens today over a higher ranked playoff team from last season. Got to watch via live stream on bluehens.com. It had its share of hiccups, but was of decent quality, and had the radio play-by-play. I guess we have to consider JMU legit once again too. Hell of a win for the Dukes. I didn't realize they already sold out their home game tickets, so I'll have to find another source for tickets to the UD/JMU game Oct 2. The CAA is disgustingly good in 1-AA.

233 Well my team lost but the "Buckeye" is still hawt. Amazing how being young and in shape is hawt.

Just wait until she turns 30, keeping that tight becomes a chore after 30. It become damn near impossible after 40. I will not talk about the 50s and 60s.

I read an interview of Jessica Simpson once for an exercise article where she described all she did for 6 months prior to making the movie Dukes of Hazard. Basically she gave up her life for 6 months to starve and exercise. Of course she gets paid the big bucks for that.

Oh and a Buckeye is a tree or the fruit of that same tree. When I was a kid those dried buckeyes used to be popular to play with.

282 I don't believe that picture shows an Ohio State cheerleader. The Ohio State cheerleaders have always been more conservative in their attire than other schools. That picture probably shows members of the Ohio State dance team, which, last time I checked, was called the Buckeye Dance Force. They do not usually perform at football games, but maybe this was different. Oh, and for those commenting/complaining about their attire, dancers typically practice dressed either like that or in something similar.

Maybe, but probably not. The uniform, while similar, is slightly different.  The Tampa Bay cheerleaders uniforms do not have an "O" on the shoulder.  Also, the striping on the arm is different in this picture than on the Tampa cheerleaders, and the gray panel does not go down the side of the torse as it does on the Tampa cheerleaders.
