Maybe so, maybe so.
Update: Not an official ad, it has been pointed out, but created by some of her supporters.
Whew. It did seem a bit too to me.

AZ-3 ... is that a Dem "safe seat"?
Many of those were drawn up in recent years by GOP legislatures to herd most of the Democrats into 90-10 districts so as to maximize the number of 54-46 GOP districts.
So if you're campaigning in one of those pens, the phrase "snowball in hell" is relevant.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Not to put too fine a point on it, but people sometimes divorce before their conversion experience. Or, as has been noticed by lots of people over the years, divorce happens to people no matter what their beliefs.

I'm very pro-gun, and would go far as to say that the federal law prohibiting civilians from owning machine guns manufactured and registered after 1986 should be overturned, though I doubt it ever will be.
That said... the Tommy Gun might have been a little over the top for a campaign ad targetting a general audience.

Actually, in most states they're legal to buy, sell, and own, once you do the proper NFA paperwork and fees/taxes. But only for existing guns or certain parts which had already been registered. Manufacturing new ones for us lowly citizens is verboten.
State laws may be more restrictive.

No worries Mike, but for practical purposes, no one here will own one, or two for sure. Just a full auto trigger group will set you back $15k in most cases.
No full autos manufactured after 1986 (86?) can be owned by civilians, unless they have a Class III license (I see 3 I's, good). Of course, when the shit really hits the fan, all the machine guns in the local constabulary might prove to be an inviting stash.

Tommy gun is legal if you have a class 3 license. You can let other people shoot it though. Each full auto has to have it's own license I believe.
Depending on state law, they're legal provided that they were manufactured and registered prior to 1986. Requires a federal background check and forking over $200 for a "tax stamp". Those manufactured after 1986 can't be possessed by civilians with the exception of dealers who sell to law enforcement and such.
The result is that an pre-86 NFA registred machinegun is expensive.
Some states prohibit private ownership completely, others allow it provided you meet federal requirements. Here in MN, only those machineguns classified as "curio and relics" qualify; some Tommy Guns qualify, others don't depending on manufacturer and when they were made.

A divorce, in and of itself, does not indicate that one cannot keep ones house in order. I think passing judgment based on less that all the facts is somewhat premature. No?
And, quite frankly, in today's world it isn't a major social stigma, whatever you wish it were.
Whether or not it matters to her would-be constituents is for them to decide and her to guess. She seems to think that she can overcome any negatives involved.

And the 2008 candidate with the picture perfect private life? I don't recall you thinking much of Mitt...

AZ 3rd Congressional District
The surprise retirement of Rep. John Shadegg, R-Ariz., has set off a flurry of political maneuvering as both parties try to claim an open seat.
I stand corrected. Jesus H. Christ, how late do some of you have your primaries? I thought Cali's recent one in June was as late as you could get.

Her looks and marital status only matter if I want to date her. Her proficiency with firearms speaks little of how she would govern (other than not supporting gun bans). Although I've never voted Democrat in my life, seeing her describe herself as a conservative Christian only makes me cringe.
For all I know she may be a genius, she may be Reagan in a skirt... but all I see is someone perpetuating a crude stereotype.

Since when? I'm on his email list and haven't heard of Mitchell's retirement from anyone else, either. He's a freshman congressman, anyway, one of many democrats encouraged to run by Rahm Emanuel. Anyway, he still claims to be fiscally responsible, and refuses any congressional pay increases.
I haven't heard of any AZ democrats retiring from Washington. Unfortunately for conservative votes, it was Rep.Shadegg instead of Sen.McCain who decided to retire this time.

I want you to watch the video closely to see what this ditz did wrong. She held the revolver by the handle with two hands. If you want to shoot a revolver accurately you hold the handle with your strong hand and support the barrel by using your weak hand. Place your weak hand under the barrel, grasping the front of the cylinder.
Try it at your next trip to the range. You'll be amazed at how well it works.

Not enough oomph isn't the 45 acp's problem. Too much, maybe. I'm not totally up on Thompson history, but I believe that the Tommy's design was capable of much faster rates, but controllability became a problem for the average shooter. Hence, engineering a slower rate of fire.

I am not divorced. I will not get divorced. I do not believe divorce is proper, and my church does not allow it. But to suggest in this day and age that a single divorce (I am assuming it's one) is "deviancy" is pretty far out there. Like a trans-Neptunian orbit, man.
Thanks, s'moron. For the record, I am divorced--twice. I made some bad mistakes in my relationship choices. (No children from either marriage thank goodness). I am not a member of any church, because I have never found one that really worked for me, although I certainly do accept Judeo-Christian values as Very Good Things.
If that drums me and millions of others out of the Patriot's Club, oh well, good luck saving the nation from the Commiecrats with your very very tiny band. Do some of you want to live up to the Left's stereotype of patriots? (Never mind that the most intolerant, judgemental and holier than thou people I have ever run into are on the Left).

Eight years after I had to do the same thing, I still sometimes feel a wash of sorrow that my dog, so uncritically faithful and dedicated to happiness, had to go. Having so many good years with her was/is a consolation, but not always.
I, too, think there must be a special heaven where dogs (and cats) thrive, where they get to live and play through eternity. If we're good enough, some of us may get in -- at least for a visit -- as well.

10 rounds a second isn't really "slow". There are sub-machineguns that are faster, but considering how fast they burn through ammo and being magazine-fed, a faster cyclic rate isn't necessarily better.
Keep in mind that it was desined during WW1 when armies still used bolt action rifles and machineguns were large, heavy, crew-served weapons like the Maxim.
Posted by: Hollowpoint at June 29, 2010 02:19 PM (plsiE)
Full auto is more an area-denial weapon than a kill weapon. It's meant to pin the other folks in place so you can maneuver on them. Find 'em, fix 'em, and fuck 'em. 10 rounds a second is more than sufficient for that task.
Posted by: Herr Morgenholz at June 29, 2010 02:19 PM (oir6A)

I disagree. Our presidential nominations occur in September or even october.
Uh, ace, aren't the Presidential nominations wrapped up for all practical purposes as early as February or March of said election year? Isn't that the problem with front-loaded primaries?
This June primary we just had was for Congressional and stae offices, of course. On Presidential years, they move it back to March.

You know, I hate to ruin your prank, but I'd hate to see anyone lose a finger or three, so kids, don't try this at home.
If you can't figure out why, dear audience, remember that there's a gap between the front of the cylinder and the barrel. From that gap emits a jet of scorching hot gases, not unlike a blowtorch.
In more powerful guns, you could actually do enough damage to lose a finger, or at least cripple one.
If this were just an "alt+F4" prank I would have let it slide, but you just KNOW there's someone stupid enough to try that out there somewhere.

Yeah, that'll work for exactly one round- after which you'll be going home with a hand injured from gases released from the cylinder gap (gap between the barrel and cylinder).

Agreed, but I think there are better ways to achieve that than to show off at the range. A motivated, passionate candidate who demonstrates the importance of the upcoming election and the tasks that lie ahead, who openly and fearlessly opposes and promises to fight the progressive agenda... now that is something that gets me politically excited.

Promises are just words.
A lot of people, myself included have heard the speeches from so-called conservatives that evaporate the minute they get what they want. Someone who does something that pisses off the leftist idea of what life should be seems a safer bet. The lefties don't forgive or forget if you wave a red flag in front of them.

heh I too want a candidate who doesn't give a rip about the forgiveness or forgetfulness of the left, and if you really want to get under their skin then do an ad about lowering taxes on those who actually buy stuff and hire people, or envision a 50-foot border fence with a guard tower, or advocate "open season" on jihadists, etc.
If you want to be a gun advocate then maybe run some supportive ads about gun owners who defend their property against intruders or women who shot their would-be rapists (things that residents of a border state probably fear on a daily basis). Running a video of the candidate shooting a variety of guns only makes her look like a redneck to the undecided voter.

I carry a Glock-22 (.40cal)
I put more than ten thousand rounds through it and never had a jam or failure to eject.
The original night sights got dim so I put on Tru-Glo night night sights.(wow)
I put a new barrel, springs throughout and a handful of wear parts.
Still shoots like new.

I have fired at least one of every major Thompson variant. M1921, M1928, M1, M1A1. The M1921 clocks the fastest, some of them running almost 1100 rounds per minute. As the 30-round stick mag didn't exist yet, and the drums are unreliable, yeah, it went through 20-rounders like a porn star with a bag of coke. But the speed allows you to get a good three to five round burst on target before the muzzle has time to think about climbing. No Cutts Compensator either. I found it to be the smoothest ride of any of them.
M1928, also rather nice. Slower, 850-900 rounds per minute. The Cutts Compensator helps, still has that ridiculous Lyman adjustable rear sight.
M1 series has the most useful rear sights, no provision for drum usage, has the charging handle in exactly the wrong place for a right handed shooter, and only runs about 600 RPM. Still faster than a Grease Gun. I can single-shot a Grease gun just on trigger control. Not hard to do.
