— Slublog Charlie Crist's campaign to set the gold standard for shameless careerism continues.
In the latest development in the race for the open U.S. Senate seat in Florida, Governor Charlie Crist is coming under fire for removing the pro-life section of his campaign website. This comes on the day the legislature sent him a bill that would allow women to see an ultrasound of their baby before an abortion.Follow the link over to Hot Air to see just how thoroughly Crist has scrubbed his website of pro-life content and enjoy his newfound openness to a job-killing measure supported by the state's labor unions. The issue here is not abortion or labor unions, but trust. Those who elected Charlie Crist governor thought they were getting a pro-life, pro-growth, pro-education reform Republican governor. In just under two months, Crist has jettisoned each of those positions and his party only to further his personal ambition, and he's using the power of his current office to do the opposite of what Florida voters thought they'd elected him to do.Crist has already hinted he will veto the legislation, which also allows Florida to opt out of some of the abortion funding under the new national health care law President Barack Obama signed.
That he would potentially veto a pro-life bill will broad support from voters is another indication of his strategy to leave the Republican Party and run as an independent.
When Crist first started scrambling to re-invent himself, his shamelessness was almost amusing in a darkly humorous kind of way. It's decidedly less so now. At this point, I'm beginning to wonder if there's actually something wrong with Crist, as he seems to lack even the basic concept of shame. It's unsettling.
On a political note, Crist's behavior should serve as an object lesson to those who keep insisting our best chances to win elections lie with moderate candidates. Political moderation may have its benefits, but as we've seen with Crist and with Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania, it also has its dangers. Those who believe in nothing will do anything to keep power.

The biggest warning sign of this is probably how people started making gay comments about him in early-to-mid 2008 when he was on his knees begging McCain for the VP slot. Soon afterward, he got engaged and married, which seems to be too quick to have happened naturally.

Well put, no more RINOs, but I think the important distinctions here are strategic vs. tactical.
For example, I really like Rand Paul domestically (yes, morons, we all know the foreign policy is whacked, but domestically he's spot on). And in the strategically principled aspects, he beats the wussy RINO sellouts.
However, *tactically*, when he walks right into the Rachel Maddow Liberal Demunist Commiecrat MFM ambush, I wince.
Likewise, a pro-lifer won't get anywhere where I live in Cali trumpeting that issue. Stick to taxes and illegal aliens.

I agree. If he based his marriage on this kind of lie, he's capable of anything. Cheating is one thing, but this is a premeditated, deliberate, blatant fraud.

I won't try to quote any of it from memory, as it would not do it justice.

Gold? Maybe orange or gray. Could go, um, either way.

And no one at high levels in the R party noticed this in the past?
At high levels in the R party, they are *just like* Crist.

He's Been One of Us."
In an additional nod to the comic, I think we should start referring to him as "Frieda".

No one cared, most likely. As long as this idiot could win an election with an R after his name, who cares what he really stands for?
It all comes down to keeping the gravy flowing.

Here's hoping his ass gets nailed to the wall with the campaign fund irregularities going on down there.
It's RINO-hunting season, boys and girls.

What circle of hell will he call home when he kicks it? Methinks eighth.
F.R.AU.D.
He won't be so lucky. You're forgetting the ninth circle, reserved for betrayers. If nothing else, he's been busier than Judas with his betrayals.

The future has 3 classes of people -- the Privileged (unions [mostly public], bureaucratc, greens, colored, attorneys, entitled), collectors (those with incomes over 250k, could be lower soon), Serfs (the private sector work force).
The Collectors collect money from the Serfs and pass it onto the Privileged. The Privileged use money from the Collectors to support their lifestyle with just enough trickled back to the Serfs to buy votes to stay in power.
It's a system that works great to collect votes from the ignorant masses of serfs. However, it doesn't at up so well when counting money. But thankfully money isn't an issue for the Privileged. Crist wants to be part of the Privileged....
