171 I'm in the process of transitioning my bookmarks and passwords from Firefox to Opera following Mozilla's ritual sacrifice to the Velvet Mafia. I did have to install Opera 12 versus 20 in order to use their account synchronization capability, but 12 is still actively supported. I was happy to see that it works out-of-the-box with RHEL 6 (unlike Chrome) which is good as I use that at work. The browser feels so much slicker than FF. The only down side I've found thus far is that there doesn't appear to be a video downloader extension that's on par with DownloadHelper, but I'm finding work-arounds for that. I should have switched sooner. So long, Mozilla.

Hubby was having surgery and my in-laws were suppose to come over mid-day to let the dogs out but they didn't get here until early evening. We didn't get home until close to midnight. I hate leaving a dog for a long time. Our neighbors do that and it drives me nuts!!! I can see the poor dog looking out the window at my dogs when I'm outside with them. Last week they went out of town and just had people come at random times to let the poor thing out. I'm seriously considering asking them if they want me to let the dog out during the day. I feel so bad for him. A big yellow lab shouldn't be locked up for 10 hours a day...that's just plain cruel. They pay absolutely no attention to the dog ever. They're both doctors....I wouldn't have them take care of a house plant.

195 I can imagine what life with those dogs will be like.  My husband had a TIA (mini-stroke) a few weeks ago, and I told him that since I have to lose weight to bring my cholesterol down, he's coming along for the ride.  So he's had to give up wine, sugar and other excessive carbs.  Also, he needs to increase his fibre intake.  (Uh oh)  So I just discovered the wonders of bulgur wheat and made a tasty low-fat chili with it.  It was so good, he ate a bit too much, and now he's upstairs moaning that nothing is happening.  I gave a Dulcolax, but he still came downstairs and ate some prune, even though I warned him that when that it all kicks in he may blow his can off.  That's why I'm sitting at the computer, because I don't want to go to bed while he's in this state, but I don't know how long this will take.  Naturally, he won't drink water and I'm tired of nagging him to.

202 My other cat, the non-lettuce-eating one, is actually easy to give a pill to. I gently squeeze his jaw hinges, his mouth pops open, and down the hatch. It's usually over in a matter of seconds. The only times it doesn't go smoothly is when my aim is off and I don't drop it cleanly down his throat. Now the first cat, the lettuce-eating one, acts more like a normal cat when it comes to pills. That old chain e-mail "How to Give a Cat a Pill" was written about her. I can remember some epic battles and I have the scars to prove it.

280 This demon candy will force it's way through your GI tract lickity split. After eating maybe ten of these innocent looking delicious hell bears, I noticed that there started a grumbling from my insides. Before I knew it, I was involuntarily squeezing my sphinxter shut to hold back the devilish tide of lava juice that was trying to force its way out. Good luck and may God have mercy on all who dare to partake in this sacrament.

282 I was performing at a professional theatre with some other actors. We were presenting 'To Kill a Mockingbird', and I played Scout Finch. Every Thursday, we had a school performance where schools would come in to see the show. On one Thursday, we had only two schools fill up all 1,200 of the seats. One school, which brought about 700 kids, decided that it would be nice to give their kids a treat- Sugar free gummi bears. They ate them before the performance. About 30 minutes into the show, the farting started. All the performers were overwhelmed by the stench, but we carried on. Then, the kids started leaving to go take care of the gummi bears they had eaten. About 700 of them were infected. There was only 20 toilets. By intermission, over half of the seats were empty and kids had left to go down the street for more bathrooms. The other school didn't stay for the Q&A or backstage tour- They couldn't stand the smell. I got out of that theatre 2 hours early and had plenty of free time for the first time ever! Thanks Haribo!!

Posted by: Grampa Jimbo at April 03, 2014 09:45 PM (V70Uh) Must have been a long time ago. I can't speak for San Diego but LA has shitloads of fatasses, especially the Mexican women. Go to the Walmart in Rosemead and you'll be hard pressed to find anyone skinny The only skinny women I saw were the Persians, and that's only when they're young. Then you have to overcome any aversion to thick body hair on a woman. Armenian girls have big boobehs but they get fat before the installment payments for the wedding ring are finished

If the boy had violated a dress code policy, that should have been the reason for the banning of the back pack.  Instead they said it would trigger bullying, they proactively decided to shield a boy as a special snowflake who's precious self esteem needed to be protected, so by their action they stomped all over the boy and his self-esteem.

They destroyed the village to save it.  And were darn proud of it.

459 WASHINGTON — White House officials sought valuable primetime air for a rare, impromptu Tuesday night address to tout the accomplishment of signing up more than 7 million people under the Affordable Care Act. But network officials refused to make the kind of accommodation they did previously for the announcement that Osama Bin Laden had been killed, for instance, and Obama was left instead cutting into the much smaller audiences of Ellen and other daytime shows.

471 432 Hey Sven- I agree on the boycott thing. The whole reason I am having this skunky beer is that I will no longer purchase my fave which is Guinness after they not only cowtowed (I could have lived with an announcement that they pulled out of the St. Pats parade to avoid controversy) but then went on to attack the parade as being run by haters. Fuck them. Not one more dollar. Anyone have any suggestions for a new browser? Posted by: typo dynamofo at April 03, 2014 10:16 PM (IVgIK) See my post #171. Also, there are plenty of great stouts out there, though Guinness will likely be the only one available from WalMart or your grocery store. Do you have a Total Wine near you?

473 Time to see if Midori + NoJS is capable of replacing Mozilla + NoScript on my desktop. It's served me well on my Linux laptop, and lets me avoid Chrome (because I don't trust Google) and Opera (I just don't like Opera). The reason I stuck with Firefox in the past is NoScript. I liked the ability to whitelist/blacklist javascript on a site-by-site basis. There really wasn't anything else that gave me the functionality of that handy extension until NoJS... which, considering how recently it came out, had really excellent timing in making it easy for me to contemplate a switch.

484 I have a question for the Horde.  My son is in the 3rd grade.  He was studying for his math test tomorrow with my husband.  One of the problems has him finding the missing length of the side of an object.  They went all the way to a problem that said 2+3n=11, solve for n.  Does this seem out of line for a 3rd grade lesson on perimeter and area?  Hell, I don't remember anything from that year except learning cursive.

Posted by: no good deed at April 03, 2014 06:36 PM (ILBCY)

485 no good deed, that sounds utterly ridiculous.  however, to get an appropriate response from the horde, you should probably re-post to the ont.

Dogs do like cabbage and it is really bad for dogs.  Really bad.  There is something in cabbage that harms their legs and causes their foot pads to disintegrate.  I know this from personal experience feeding it regularly to my 2 dogs back in the '90s.
