Dancing With the Stars (Ben)
— Open Blogger

Dancing With the Stars is on tonight at 8:00 EST on ABC. I've never see the show and certainly don't plan on watching tonight, however I do plan on sending in a text message vote for Bristol Palin.

As I've made clear in the comments, I am not a huge Palinista, but the death threats , DWTS insider who said that the show's integrity would be harmed if she won, the ex-elected official in Vermont who shot his tv leading to a subsequent stand off, the fake anthrax letter sent to the DWTS studio addressed to Bristol Palin, and now the death threats directed at her partner as well having resulted in increased security tonight, have changed my views on sitting idly by.

I plan on voting tonight. I'm not advocating you do it but...do it. It'll be worth it if for no other reason than to twist the knife that was plunged into the Liberal psyche on November 2.

Think of it this way. How many of your favorite shows were ruined when the writers decided to inject their liberal politics into the story line? Isn't it time we got a little revenge?

I'm not sure how the voting works. I assume it is at the end of every episode. Maybe someone in the comments can crack an egg of knowledge on my head. I'd be happy to put the details up.

Standard commenting rates apply. So may sure you get your parents permission before commenting.

Update: Darin H in the comments says the number is 1(800)868-3407 and Y-Not directed me to the voting rules page at ABC. Y-Not also mentioned that texting votes might only work for AT&T customers and to vote online you have to register. Voting begins at 8pm EST, 5pm PST. You can vote as much as you'd like.

1 Bristol is the only one who has had to dance knowing she is getting death threats. The other contestants have not had to think about that while practicing and performing.

I used to watch this show, and this is NOT the first time someone who couldn't dance as well as the other finalists went to the final three(Marie Osmond etc).  The only difference:  this time she is a Republican's daughter.   It is amazing how hateful people are just because her mother has an R on the end of her name.- people (liberals heads explode).   And you are exactly right almost all of my favorite shows have had "liberal" views stuck in the subtle sometimes; sometimes not.  Heck Sons of Anarchy had someone getting an abortion use Sarah Palin as her medical alias, and the Law and Order franchise was completely ruined by left wing politics.

Does anyone here watch the show? How does the voting normally work. I've never seen it, but I'm getting real pissed.

Could you imagine what would happen if this was Chelsea Clinton, or Sasha and Mahlia(i have no idea how to spell her name) Obama?

We'd be hearing about the violent nature of conservatives, the dangerous discourse in america, the hatred on the right.

It is unbelievable to me that the left, or more specifically individuals on the left, can do this to the daughter of a politician and it not be a bigger deal. I understand that by going on the show Bristol is opening herself up to criticism and everything, but death threats? Anthrax hoaxes?

It's remarkable to me, and if i can help further anger the people doing this, I'm in, even at 10 cents a text.

13 I have never watched this show, and from what I've seen in clips, Bristol is a pretty shitty dancer, but if getting her the win will have liberal heads exploding across the country you can rest assured I'll be going ACORN on the DWTS voting tonight.

16 listen, bristol does not come from an entertainment background jennifer gray was "baby" from dirty dancing and kyle massey is a disney actor....she has really improved from the first night as stated by the judges....she is not the best dancer out there but she received the publics votes through the last competition....the public is out of this now and the winner is up to the judges ..... she probably won't win but she did a great job.....

18 Y-Not, those numbers look like they might be from an older show cause most of those people have been eliminated.  I'll tune into the show and get the text number and then post it here.

19 Uh, the Hillbuzz gang has really got the Libs in an uproar...they are coaching people on how to vote like Dems....early and often! I don't have a TV, and have never seen the show, but I have heard family, friend, and coworkers all conspiring on how to vote many times for their favorite. It's only an issue now because a Palin is the favorite. You can vote online, starting at 8pm ET. You have to register at ABC online first. Requires an email address. Much like here, it's not verified. Don't bother trying to register as JoyBehar666@gmaildotcom, or KeithOlbermann666 gmaildotcom, cuz I done used it.

That's actually not a Howard Stern thing.  The website existed well before he came along and helped them with encouraging people to vote for that Sanjaya kid.  I'm ashamed to say that I watched that season.  It also included another absolutely shitty singer, except she supposedly had a bunch of amateur porno photos of her, and she was decent enough to check them out and determine if they were actually her.

98 The Left has traditionally disparaged achievement and merit as worthy of reward--other considerations must be considered. Achievement and merit are not enough to justify keeping your income if you are successful enough. Achievement and merit can be trumped by concerns of diversity in obtaining college admission or a job. Some on the Left do not approve of competitive contests in school because those who achieve may harm the self-esteem of those who do not. But for some reason, Dancing with the Stars is different. There nothing but technical merit is supposed to matter.

The Left should be voting for Bristol Palin in the name of affirmative action--she comes from a disadvantaged background because, unlike her two competitors, she did not grow up with the luxury of show business experience and training.

And it seems like conservatives out number the people nostalgically voting for "Nobody puts Baby in the Corner" and the chubby black kid I've never heard of..

I am a regular viewer of DWTS, and Dirty Dancing was one of my favorite movies back in the day, so I started the season rooting for Jennifer Grey.  However just a few weeks in I began to tire of her constant complaining and over-the-top-drama regarding her physical problems (laying on the floor while receiving the judges criticism because she had just given her all, that was the beginning of the end of my support of her).  Now, I really can't stand her.  Hope this doesn't ruin the DD movie for me if I ever watch it again.

Voted tonight for the first time ever, for Bristol (2 phones = 10 votes).  Doing my part to explode lib heads.

Using multiple phone numbers and email addresses to vote, and using each method to vote multiple times for the same person is allowed.  It's not cheating as you will hear the lefties allege; we have no unfair advantage.

If the lefties don't keep making victims out of the Public Palins, you'll do it for them.

It's lose-lose, all the way.

Either Sarah Palin has to get her ass in gear and do what it takes to earn a presidential nomination -- and that doesn't mean carrying on with Hannity's worshipful face-sucking and Facebook posts, but some real achievements that can be quantified without dispute -- or accept a position as a kind of Shuckabee-with-boobs working the fringes of political life.

As it stands right now, when Palin's fanboyz come down from their binge of unquestioning worship and start being rational about their love-object, they'll be pretty sad folks....

191 took forever, but my vote is complete!  I have never voted for these shows, however, the lefty over the top reaction has inspired me.

192 just so everyone knows, you can vote as many times online as you want.  the only limit is 5 per email address.  this is why so many asshats who care about this shit are losing their minds... kids are on facebook bragging about voting 300 times with 60 email addresses.  ABC doesn't want to limit different family members from voting, so they won't restrict by IP address.  so don't be bashful... you still have over 12 to vote online and ensure heads will explode tomorrow night!  we might even get another police standoff...

193 I have another 23 minutes before I can vote by telephone. I already voted online but I want to get 10 votes in for Bristol.

194

Tried to vote online - ABC's website won't let me register.

Tried to vote by phone - it says my time zone isn't active (its currently 2145CST)

195 Just voted my max on the three phones here.  Only watched the show a few times this year to see how she did.  I thought she did really well for a beginner with no entertainment experience.  Didn't watch tonight because my Broncos are in primetime.  Yes, the liberal heads exploding would be great if she pulls it off.  Might even be a reason to go into the AOSHQ hall closet, pull out that old box and unleash Quenchy one more time.  I've got some left over pudding because my Governors race and Senate race didn't go my way.

196 Predictions: 1) More people on Ace of Spades HQ will vote for Bristol Palin than actually voted in the midterms. 2) The outcome will have the same relevance, but greater import given to DWTS. 3) VENGEANCE! 4) No, no, it's VIGILANCE! 'Cause the Republic's future hinges on sticking it to touchy liberal blogs! VIGILANCE! Vote early and vote often! 5) This space intentionally left blank.

197 Be patient with the voting online...takes forever...but it works eventually! Took a long while to register, then each of the five votes took forever as well.  Hang in there, just keep focused on lefty brains all over the place and keep saying...yes we can, yes we can, yes we can.

198 Okay, I just completed my 5 telephone calls. I have now cast 10 votes. Yeah, me!

199 I checked the internet, the judges are giving Grey perfect scores. I'm sorry but she is a professional dancer. Why is she even on the show? I sure hope Bristol kicks her ass voting wise.

200 I'm peeing my pants in anticipation! Who won? Will it make a difference in 2012? OMG DON'T HOLD ME IN SUSPENSE!

201 Minor correction: "the ex-elected official in Vermont who shot his tv leading to a subsequent stand off" It was the township of Vermont, in Dane County Wisconsin. Nearest city is Madison.

202 "In 40 years when my grandchild is sitting on my lap asking, " Pap, what did you do when the Great DWTS Conflict took place?" I want to be able to look him in the eye and tell him I  wasn't shoveling shit in Louisiana."

Damn, I needed that laugh! Thanks Ben. That made snot shoot out of my nose!

203 I don't know why the lefties are so angry.  These are the people that would normally want everyone to be awarded the Mirrored Disco Ball Trophy--everyone's a winner because they don't want anyone to have their self esteem damaged.  Funny that.

the left have worked for decades to control  popculture.  It's cool to be a socialist.   what happens to their future voters if  conservatives are also seen as "cool"

the bluebloods in the gop  never understood about the importance of popculture.  infact the ceded the battleground to the laft many many years ago.

204 5 from my home phone
5 from my cell phone
5 from each kids' phone - since they're different
5 from my fax phone
5 from the hubbie's phone

and I've never watched the show before tonight.
35 votes from me alone and I used to live in Chicago so I'm voting early, often, and if my mom's phone was still activated (she's passed on) I would have voted in her stead.

idiots.
why does everything have to become a statement? even my football is becoming a statement. I used to be able to watch a neutral weather channel - showed nice graphics from GOES with satellite images, projections for the next 5 days, the moon's phase, sunrise/sunset times with better than average music in the background. Got a lot of work done with just that on the tv. Then came the commentators and as they droned on over and over and said the same stuff, it was still ok UNTIL - NBC took the damn thing over and bought out the guy who started the station and made it into Eco-mindnumbing stories like "when weather changed history" - who the fuck cares? That's for the history channel. Just give me my 5 day forecast (that's never right anyways) and some nice satellite images.

Even the guy started it and then sold it to NBC said its ruined as a channel. Sir, I would say to you that you got your money and we got shafted. Go get another cable channel and start over with what made you great. We will follow and this time don't sell out!

207 The comments of No. 226 and several others do not contribute to any adult discussion of the topic. Perhaps it is time for a filter since they can't control their puerile impulses.

As to the official from Vermont, that is a town in Wisconsin. We have enough left wingers and nut jobs in Vermont already without adding another one to the roster.
