13 Bristol Palin has already won. She's been living rent free in the Progressive heads for weeks. Now she's just thrashing furniture and breaking glass.

15 Who can begrudge Jennifer Gray? Ferris's long suffering sister and baby-in-the-corner? She can dance up a storm - professionals can do that you know. Bristol has already won. I am sure that no one in the production meeting putting together the contestants thought for one second that she would last this long - probably thrown in there as a joke and an anti-Sarah one at that. She proved them wrong. She has two left feet, but she is not the mindless whore the left would have you believe. I'd be proud of her if she were my daughter.

44 Frankly, at this point it wouldn't bother me much if Bristol Palin did lose. Which she won't, because the producers decided it would do wonders for the show if they had her win.

They should subtract one vote from her total for every comment here and at TepidAir that had "make liberals' heads explode" in it. That's getting friggin' old.

50 Actually, the Norks launched their attack at that Island because there was a rumor going around that the islanders were freeping on behalf of Bristol Palin. I've read over at history.com that when the Japanese invaded the Aleutians in 1942 it was because the Inuit were sending spare blubber and fish jerky to the help out the Palins.

73 The DWTS Producers said that they are going to be going over the results and "throwing out any improperly cast votes".  Translation - If Bristol wins, we are gonna throw out enough votes so she doesn't.

The producers know what the vote totals are and they are nervous because Bristol may be winning each night, by A LOT.  She would have to be to be still in the competition despite her lower scores.

97 I was under the assumption that this show was about NON dancers learning to dance?

It WAS a show with non-dancers, but then American Idol WAS a show full of people that didn't need to drop a recording contract to appear on that show either.

11 seasons in, the number of people that are recognizable, willing and have limited dance experience has to be running short.  Just wait until DWTS starts pulling former contestants of so you think you can dance.

By the way, Jennifer Gray's new nose is horrible.

Point taken.  But then achieving world peace is pretty damn tough too. Maybe they should have awarded the prize at the start of episode one based on the contestant with the best potential?

I teach dance and love to perform as  a solo or with a troop (we average 2x a month)--- but I can't for the life of me do couples/ballroom dancing.  I go from being a good performer and entertainer  to "crazy clumsy woman getting her feet tangled with the feet of the poor man trying to dance to the music or at extract himself from her jaws of life grip"   So I'm impressed with couples who can dance together touching the whole time.

Basically the libtards transgressed a rule that goes in my own family about the men: do not make a big deal about something we do being annoying to you, or else we'll keep doing it over and over and over . . . it's not the deed itself that amuses us, but your reaction.

And libtards throwing shitfits over a TV show is amusing to no end.

A lot of it comes from the fact that dancing takes place in a social setting that is less and less frequently seen in modern society.  Before cable television and video games and home video, dances were a way for people to interact, and for young adults especially.

Exactly-- that's what 'folk' dances are-- what you do with your family, friends, hanging out, at parties, weddings.  Everyone danced from the youngest to the oldest.  It wasn't learned or taught, it was simply something you did.

The ballroom dances all started out as folk dances.  They become formalized as they moved into the cities and the wealthier classes.  Viennese waltz started out as a dance from rural Austria, for example.  Argentine Tango was first danced in the slums of Buenos Aires.  Personally, I love contra dances, and wish they were more a part of our culture.

The big problem now is that dancing has left the common knowledge of our culture, and as such it's very hard to get back.  Parents don't know how to dance, and so kids don't know how to dance.  Furthermore, there is no emphasis on it, since any dancing people do is likely to be either the highly interpretative gyrations of a nightclub (no offense intended towards belly dancers!) or the standard side to side rocking that you see couple do when they don't know how to do anything else.

Preach it brother--- We don't have a cultural dance nor do we treat dance as a recreation that everyone does for fun.   We don't have a movement vocabulary.   BTW, Belly Dance has gone through the exact same morphing--- from Raks Sharki (people's dance) that has a  bzillion folky variations to the caberet nightclub-westernized versions that people think is authentic but is no where near the real thing (BTW, I've been in a ballet troupe and Raks is harder only eclipsed by Flamenco).    Trust me, it has a very broad technique vocabulary.

Haven't watched this show in seasons because it is so absurd and rigged-even just by "entertainment" standards. as if audience votes will actually be counted. Jennifer should be mortified for being humiliated. Such a blatent fish in the barrel set up win for her. If she had broken both her legs in the middle of the competition, they still would have named her winner. If this were Powerball ABC would ask every contest to pick 5 correct numbers between 1-100. They would than ask jenifer grey to pick a number between 1 and 1

There is no rock bottom these hollywood whore has beens will go to to jump start a long dead career. Have some self respect. I could care less who wins and who doesn't but please don't insult my intelligence with this horseshit setting up a certain person as the winner from the start

390 It's true, grey was the best dancer and she had the best overall score but the audience is supposed to be 50% of the outcome with their votes.  But didn't you know that the dems/libs would suddenly, when bristol got into the finals, kick in with the union vote.  Don't you think it's odd that twitter announced it before the show was near announcing it?  Wonder what union people have their hands on this one?   How come the website crashed, an ABC website??? what??? crashed????  Well, how many votes for bristol weren't counted?  Jennifer grey was a great dancer, last night she slipped a disc and was in pain.  I mean the woman actually crippled herself further for this competition so maybe she should have won.  But, it makes you wonder what the votes for bristol were.  I knew tons of people rooting for kyle, a few for bristol but no one wanted jennifer.  Maybe the old people outvoted the young?

Posted by: curious at November 23, 2010 09:16 PM (p302b)

391 It was a popularity contest. I think if the judges had rated Palindrome higher, she would have won, fan votes are 50% so with the judge votes favoring Jennifer Grey by a big margin it was hard for Bristol to close the gap.

Of course Grey was the best dancer. because she was the ONLY dancer with dance training and one of the stars of a dance movie competing against people whose dance experience, skill and knowledge is limited to going to a club with friends. How is that in any way a "competition"?

Audience votes don't count for squat except making the audience feel like they have a say and will continue to watch. The fact is, votes decide nothing.
