— DrewM Slow news day so enjoy a little popcorn as the Democrats rush to blame each other for their impending collapse.
Gibbsy started it off over the weekend by announcing the obvious, the control of the House is in play.
That got Nancy talking angry smack about the White House behind closed doors.
Now she's pointing out that maybe there's some other group to blame for the falling fortunes of her caucus. Those bastards in "the other body".
While trying to mend ties between her caucus and the White House, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi turned her ire toward her Senate colleagues on Thursday, blaming Senate delays in passing the Democratic agenda for the disappointing jobs picture heading into the midterm elections.“If we had healthcare sooner, if we had energy sooner, if we had an education bill sooner – they are all three pillars of job creation – and that would have resulted in more jobs created by now,” Pelosi (D-Calif.) told reporters Thursday at her weekly press conference.
Yes, if only Harry Reid had been able to ram even worse stuff through the Senate sooner everything would be roses for the Democrats. They can never admit people just don't like what they are selling. They run as faux moderates, govern as hard left socialists and wonder why people are pissed.
Meanwhile, Keith Hennesey thinks the latest nomination by the White House is a possible sign the Hope and Change bandwagon have moved on to the post-Pelosi era before the Botox drains out of the body.
On the downside, the GOP is still the GOP so let's no underestimate their ability to screw this up and not capitalize on the situation.
Added: Mich McConnell says Republicans "got our groove back" (Mitch is so hip with all that 90's slang. Seriously Mitch, stop.)
“What Republicans are offering the American people is a pledge, a pledge to do everything in our power to restore government to a size and scope that leads to some semblance of competency," he said. "We’re not going to tell you that if you vote Republican, you’re going to wake up in your dream home with a brand new Corvette outside ready to take you to the best job in the world. You know why? Because government can’t deliver that promise.”
Obviously getting back to Bush/GOP Congress Era sized government is nice as a start. I hope, but have no reason to believe, that Mitch and the gang think they are part of the problem too.
Also, it's great to say to people that government can't give you a job and a new Corvette but we also need to be talking about how the GOP has a list of ideas for creating an environment where if you have skills and work hard, the government won't be an impediment to you getting those things either.

Remember when Pelosi said the moment healthcare was passed, we'd see 400,000 jobs immediately? Not a week or a month from the signing, but 400k jobs just appearing instantly?

Under the enforcement resolution, Democrats can no longer use a parliamentary tactic known as budget reconciliation next [fiscal] year.
I think, if I read that right, this refers to FY2011, which means reconciliation will be off the table during FY2011, including any possible "lame duck" session after the election. They have till 9/30.

Only in the Alice In Wonderland topsy-turvey world of Nancy Pelosi is a mandate that forces employers to provide expensive health insurance for all of their employees a "pillar of job growth."
I'll give Nancy Pelosi a pillar of job growth. Then she'll blow me.

Wow, that's impressive... lets try it.
Companies, all you business owners out there; throw away 30% of your gross income. I know that runs you into the red and tanks all your profits, but it'll help the economy, unemployment, and your business... Pelosi guarantees it.
See these higher taxes, higher costs, and more regulation Pelosi was proposing would have created jobs; so if we shortcut to the end result and have every company throw away 30% of their gross income we'll be right where Pelosi thinks we should have been.
Once you've lost all your profits, and then some; and are running debt and losing business; then you'll have the money to hire tons of new workers.
How could this possibly work you may ask? ... You're sexist for asking, that's how... and consider yourself lucky Obama wasn't saying this or you'd be racist too. Clearly your naysaying shows that you want America to fail, and won't do your part helping run your business into permanent debt to save the American economy.

I think the Republicans will win big but I'm concerned there hasn't been a "plan" put forward by the leadership. The Contract with America won the '94 election and provided a framework for policy. Apparently the Republicans don't want to put forth any plan because they don't want to be beholden to it.
I mean hell, at least run on extending the Bush tax cuts.

132 I'm trying to be most catholic with my breeches I'll have you know.
and why not? It's hot as two rats in a sack being carnally active; my clothes are sticking to me, and I still haven't found truly gainful employment...and my kids are napping and the laundry is done, so it's all good.

A list of ideas?
I'll settle for a list of what was done before that actually worked, and a pledge to revisit those initiatives.

That would be a reference to the book, "How Stella Got Her Groove Back". Because Mitch McConnell, he's all up in that lingo.
"Groove" is, I dimly recall, would be a reference to female genitalia. Anyway the book was basically a mary-sue wherein a Woman Of A Certain Age goes to Jamaica and picks up a twenty-year-old.
Shake it, Mitch!

"Elect us and we'll flush the toilet of Democrat rule, and replace it with the outhouse of *our* rule!"
"Pelosi, Reid and Obama, two outta three ain't bad! And after all, Boehner and McConnell are marginal improvements!"
"We're not slightly less socialists, so vote for us!"
"Wouldn't Boehner look cool with a gavel? Plus, he's always so bombed, he couldn't hit anything with it anyway."
"We'll make no promises that we can't keep, since we promise to continue to expand the government, just at a slightly slower rate than the Democrats would!"
"Republicans, just because we suck a little less than the alternative!"
Fixed....

Did Ace post anything about the PPP poll showing Palin dead even with Barry: 46% - 46%?
Even better, GINGRICH beats Barry 47% - 46%.
By 2012, Barry will be SO unelectable that the GOP could run Genghis Khan and win.
What's wrong with Genghis Khan, apart from not being alive?
The real problem with 2012 is that the choices look no better than they did in 2008. How bad did the selection have to be, that McCain actually came from behind and won the GOP nomination? People went crazy for Palin, simply because any conservative person, however slight, looked like delicious chocolate cake compared to McCain.
I read somebody trying to get excited about Jindal the other day. Jindal. Boy are we at the bottom of the cracker box. Should we have trust that GOP voters are going to find and lift up some high-quality candidate who represents our sensibilities? Yeah right. Ask the GOP voters in Arizona, who are about to extend McCain another 6 year opportunity to screw us over.

Actually, once we got rid of Caligula, I did turn things around. I invaded Britain for one thing. I built the aquaduct system that supplied Rome and reformed the Roman judicial system among other things. And I did it all with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. It was that bastard Nero who screwed me over.

To sort of quote P J O'Rourke - Republicans are always complaining that government does not work. They get elected and prove it.

On the downside, the GOP is still the GOP so let's no underestimate their ability to screw this up and not capitalize on the situation
I'd like to offer an apology for this.
