— Ace Dear Lord. They are desperate for good news, aren't they?
A Democrat wins a Democratic primary, and they're walking on air.
This is courtesy of Mickey Kaus, bringing the snark (and making this exact joke -- it's his).
Democrats hail election results as breakthroughA key primary win in Colorado and victories by 'tea party'-backed GOP candidates amount to 'nothing but good news' for the party, the White House says.
Wow! A key primary win won by a Democrat in a Democratic primary... I bet mostly Democrats turned out to vote in the Democrat primary, too!
The White House and national Democrats were quick to celebrate Wednesday what they saw as a breakthrough in an otherwise bleak political year, with President Obama's preferred candidate winning a key primary test in Colorado and Republican voters choosing "tea party"-backed insurgents over the GOP's recruited candidates."Last night's elections Â… were nothing but good news for the Democratic Party," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said.
Incidentally, the candidate backed by Bill Clinton and other prominent Democrats lost, so how this is a victory for Democrats, rather than the leftist wing of the party and Organizing for America, escapes me. I trust that Bill Clinton wasn't backing a fringe or bizarre candidate.
But they'll take their victories where they can find them, I guess.
Top Ten Other "Breakthroughs" In Democratic Primary Victory
10. Sarah Palin didn't endorse the winner, thus proving her irrelevancy
9. Democratic primary winner was favored by just slightly more than 50% of primary voters
8. Exit polls indicate primary was heavily voted in by "explosively growing demographic groups" such as union members, people who wear "O" buttons, hacky-sack enthusiasts, and the dead
7. Democrats gushing that their primary fight was finally comprised of a "civil discussion" between one candidate pushing liberal solutions and another candidate pushing slightly different liberal solutions
6. Many Democrats found voting easier than usual due to fact they had become unemployed during the Summer of Recovery, presaging high turnout in November
5. Both candidates in bellwether election fully agree we "can't afford to go back to same failed policies of Bush Administration"
4. Democrats taking comfort in old political truism, "As go the affluent liberal suburbs northeast of Boulder, Colorado, so goes the nation"
3. Some party officials are taking a "closer look" at a previously unheard-of write-in candidate who received 8,334 votes, a Mr. You All Suck
2. Democrats "extremely pleased" that all voter intimidation and voter fraud was conducted by Democrats, for Democrats
...and the Number One Other "Breakthrough" In Democrats' Incredible Victory In Their Own Primary...
1. 75% of all voters casting votes in Democratic primary "pretty sure" Obama born in United States

The LAT is Obama's west-coast operation, so it's got to cheer the loss of a Clinton-backed Dem.
It's the only good news they have for BHO.

So basically, a Tea Party candidate is going to kick a lefty's ass in November instead of kicking a more mainstream Dem's ass?

It's a breakthrough because it gives the Democrats a shred of evidence that the President and leader of their party isn't completely poisonous politically.
Just like some people are trumpeting Sarah Palin's "failure" to get her endorsed candidate to win in the Georgia primary. Palin is batting 10 for 16 in her endorsements that have been election-tested so far -- and in Georgia, her candidate came within just 2,500 votes of victory, almost as close to a tie as it gets.

Oh, and for the record, the winning Democrat has already asked Obama to NOT come to town and campaign for him. That whole Corzine/Deeds/Coakley magic might rub off.
And, to sweeten the pot, the loser in the Republican primary was the one endorsed by John McCain.

Yes, just like the movie 2001 A Space Odyssey:
"My God, it's full of stupid"
Yes, an incumbent Democrat who was endorsed by a sitting Democrat President and won his primary. What an accomplishment that is! Of course the guy is still making noises like he really doesn't want the aforementioned Democrat President campaigning for him in the general election, where he probably thinks it would do more harm than good.
And why would he think that? Probably because every time our jugeared socialist in chief tries to campaign for a democrat in a general election said democrat gets their ass handed to them. Hell they couldn't even carry Massachusetts against a no-name republican challenger, a state so blue that people generally drive around it because it looks like it's part of the Atlantic Ocean for cripes sake.
But hey, the Liar of the Free World throws his support behind this incumbent in a primary, the guy wins, and suddenly Obama is obviously the best thing since sliced bread. Never mind that Bennet, the incumbent, outspent his challenger by 3 to 1 and only won by 8 points. Hardly a landslide under the circumstances.
And supposedly this is some sort of miracle handed down by the anointed one from on high? Please. What a joke.

Democrats want to blame the sunset on the GOP and take credit for the sunrise ...
how many human shields do they use now ?
children, teachers, firemen, cops, immigrants ...
everytime anyone talks about spending cuts they trot out one of these shields to defend their spending excesses ...
they of course never trot out the military because that is the one Constitutionally mandated activity that they want to cut ...

O/T: Know who thinks the JetBlue flight attendant is "fabulous"?
His ex-wife:
But Slater's ex-wife Cynthia Susanne, who has remained friends with her former husband, disagrees with these reports.
She told "Early Show" co-anchor Erica Hill on the broadcast Thursday these reports seem to be from attention-seekers.
"As far as I can see, it seems like an opportunistic path for some people to come guard right now," Susanne said. "I have known Steven to be only the consummate gentleman, a stellar flight attendant and a fabulous human being. There would be no reason for him to attack a passenger. If he was having an off day, it's a possibility, but there's no way that he would be verbally abusive to any of his passengers. He took his job too seriously."
In fact, Susanne said she didn't expect this kind of behavior from her ex, whom she's known for 20 years.
"Upon hearing the story, I was surprised," Susanne said. "This is really out of character for anything that Steven would normally behave like."
You mean, like having sex with men? I'm guessing that you might have been a little surprised by that during your marriage, honey.

Colorado has more Registered (D) than (R).
More Republicans voted in the Primary than Democrats. More overall voters, and more enthusiasm/impetus to vote shown by Republicans.
Independents/unaffiliated are polled at a 60/40 Republican advantage, and a poll of all voters shows the Republican candidate with a 6 point lead (Rasmussen I think).
This is their "good news". Fine, I hope they get better news. Fewer voters, less voter enthusiasm, and an even bigger deficit on the polls should thrill them to no end; and I care enough to hope that's exactly what they get.
It's no more than they deserve really.

White House All Smiles; Obama Correctly Predicts Sunrise!
IN an unprecedented achievement, fraught with high-stakes risks, wildly popular President Obama won another yet bet against far-right wing conservative Republican Olympia Snowe over whether or not the Sun would rise before 10AM Eastern time. Keeping in line with his long string of stunningly successful predictions, including the amazing economic recovery, massive job growth, and plunging health care costs, our humble President once again bewildered his detractors with yet another perfect prognostication. White Houses sources, exhausted after a tense night of anticipation and observation, nevertheless, were jubilant and relieved. "We knew the President had really gone out on a limb there, he really put his neck out," said one staffer. "But, he didn't let us down! He never does! And by now we should learn to trust him!" eagerly chimed another. The President, however, was unavailable for comment, pushed out the door to another emergency vacation in Martha's Vineyard by top aides over concerns he may be exerting himself far too much in service of our country.
