I think I missed the controversy in AK. What is supposedly in Miller's employment records that's supposed to be so contentious?

Also, re the write-in. Anyone heard anything about how that works? I looked at the write-in statues in AK and they speak more to the candidate's requirements to run in the primary. Nothing on how the votes will count if there are misspellings in her name.

The seats that are leaning or likely Republican, with Democrats totally abandoning them now (theres nearly 20 of those) aren't worth spending another cent into THIS late in the game with national Dem attention on salvaging their safe seats. Go after the likely and lean Dem seats HARD in the next 2 days and a huge pile of the seats leaning closer to us will be abandoned by the Democrats in their 96 hour last ditch efforts. CA-51, AZ-7, MA-4, IL-9, WA-9, OR-1, TX-15, VA-8, PA-13, NJ-12, NY-4, CT-2, OH-10, MI-5 seats like this. Morris is dead on with this as a closer.

It's not going to matter if they know how to spell her name, or not.   Polling places are giving out printed lists of write-in candidates.   Dems are threatening to sue, but I think it's hot air, because they believe that Murscuntski will peel votes from Miller making it easier for McAdams to pull an upset.   Didn't say they were smart.

Div. of Elections says allowing the lists is fine, because they're just helping voters, doncha know.

Not just muffins.  When the 'ettes get bored, they start offering secret recipes that leave folks begging for more.  So far, I've tried dagny's orange-almond salad and Jane D'oh's Hawaiian Banana Bread.  They were both outstanding.

Hell, Maxine Waters has been inside polling places standing beside people who are voting.   When she was asked to stop, she started yelling at poll watchers asking them who they were working for, and accusing them of voter suppression.    Then she was seen outside, at the door, of another polling place  talking to people as they went in to vote.   So far, not a thing has been done about it.

When PACS & funding for the Dems is transparent and less than this kind of funding for Repubs, I'll worry about transparency.   The 3 or 4 largest donors for this election are unions to Dems.   The largest is the public employees union that my tax dollars fund.    I have no say-so in my tax dollars funding Dems in an election.   When that changes, I'll worry about PACS funding Repubs & Conservatives.

He's only struggling in polling.  And that's because the polls are offering respondents a choice they aren't actually going to have in the voting booth:  Miller vs. McAdams vs. Murkowski.

In the voting booth the choice is going to be Miller vs. McAdams, and so that will be the choice made by 80-90% of the voters.  Some of them will bother to write in Murky's name, but not in anywhere close to the numbers the polls are showing.  This is why being on the ballot is so crucial.  In all of U.S. history only one senator has ever been elected as a write-in, and that one was a popular former presidential candidate running in a one-party Southern state.

Miller's going to be an easy winner on Election Night.

Crock Pots actually use very little current. The problem is that they are on for so long, however, if you turn your oven down low enough to use it as a slow cooker and have it on for an equal amount of time it will probably use the same amount of power.

I'm certainly not unsympathetic to the "fight fire with fire" position, but tactically I think it's a losing position.  The New York Times will never print a week long series on the details of Democratic campaign financing,  They will however print one on "How the Republicans Only Won the Election of 2010 because of Dirty Money", and probably get a Pulitzer for it. And the story will get all the usual  liberal media amen corner coverage, and so on.

That aside, this PAC is new, the only names associated with it are a Mitt Romney bag man, a junior congressional staffer, and Dick Morris. I mean, come on -- Dick Morris?  We all love the guy like a big goofy slobbering dog, but his track record on actually knowing what he's doing is pretty much the suck.

I'd say one week out from the election, donations -- of money or time, are probably better sent directly to the candidate of your choice, or at least a real PAC with some experience and track record.

In defense of my home state of Michigan, we are NOWHERE near as fiscally - f**ked up as California, Illinois, (or NJ under Corzine).

Our public pension system is actually in reasonably good shape.  It's been fully funded for years, and is not based on the ludicrous assumptions that shaped California's suicidal 3% plan.

Basically, teachers in Michigan have to contribute about 6% of their salaries into the pension system (far more than in states like California).  After thirty years, a retiring teacher can receive a pension worth approximately 45% of their salary at the time of retirement.  The state is also in the process of transitioning to a 403b based system for new hires.

Michigan has to overcome SERIOUS problems ( our idiotic Single Business Tax, loss of manufacturing jobs), but at least our problems are not intractable.  Plus, we have an electorate that is a little bit liberal, not insanely leftist (like California).

I love my state, and I'm willing to bet that Michigan will be success story by the time we get to the second term of the Pence presidency.

135 Speaking of crocks, here's a chicken recipe I make at least once every couple weeks.  

Take a whole chicken (can use single pieces, but I find it's more expensive per pound), remove icky stuff from cavity.  Rinse & dry off bird.  Sprinkle salt/pepper inside cavity.  You can do whatever to the outside.  I usually just salt & pepper it or sprinkle a homemade rotisserie seasoning...split the breast skin & rub it directly on the meat.  Put bird in crock, dot several pats of butter all over the top of chicken.  Cook on low for about 6-7 hours.  The chicken will be the moistest, most tender chicken you can make.  I don't even need a knife to cut away the legs or breasts.  Just use a big fork.  It will literally fall apart.
