— Ace I don't know if I believe him. He tends to offer up the most optimistic projections possible -- he has predicted, for example, that the Republicans will take the Senate, which is possible but still seems pretty unlikely. I always worry with Dick Morris that his predictions and reports are, um, tailored some to please his clients. And we're his clients.
But he says he has a report from a top Democratic leader that they don't have the votes:
From a top level source in the House comes the news that the Democrats are still short of the 216 votes they need to pass Obamacare. They have decided, however, to go for broke on Sunday and attempt to pass it whether or not they have enough support. They feel that only by forcing a vote can the force members off the fence. They hope that by employing all means at their disposal, they can round up enough votes for passage. But, if they don't have the votes, they will allow the measure to be defeated. One source called it a "suicide run."
But that was sent out six hours ago, too.
Keep the phone lines hot, he advises. Indeed.

Because all the talk about overhauling health care went away for good after the 1994 elections. They called it "Hillarycare" and it's deader than the Kaiser's war machine.

Gabe's list is more precise because it shows who is where. Could Democrats be saying they're a NO or Undecided when they're actually a YES? Well, yes... politicians do lie.

I'm giving y'all some VDH medicine - like it or not. (I like it)
"At an outdoor rally today, the president described the health-care debate as a referendum on the “character” of the country, and I do believe he was correct.
The president is pushing legislation that a clear majority of the people dislike, and whose details neither he nor his supporters can explain in simple language. Its ends-justify-the-means passage will require legislative gymnastics that border on the unconstitutional, and in Orwellian fashion are designed to reassure its sheepish supporters that they can appear not to be voting for the bill they vote for. And to achieve a House majority, Obama must offer an array of personal favors, political payoffs, federal stipends, and open threats, which, if done in the private sector, would be actionable acts of felonious bribery or racketeering.
So, yes, this is a reflection about character; and so far the president has throughout this entire shameful process been shown to be utterly wanting on that count, as he misrepresents both the bill’s contents and the opposition to it. All of his “let me be perfectly clear” and “make no mistake about it” and now-tired rhetoric and faux cadences simply cannot change that disturbing reality.
That such chameleon legislation is the work of a supposedly healing, post-partisan, post-ideological politician makes it even more embarrassing. There will be lots of us — Democrats, Republicans, Independents — who simply will not vote this fall for any congressional representative who votes for this tawdry DMV-like take-over of health care."

GE is a firm owned by shareholders(us? Sort of, but more like Geithner acting as us). Shareholders should demand a report similar to what Caterpillar produced. What will Obamacare do to their costs? How much will it cost them?

How many of the current no / leaning no votes are from the progressive / liberal / socialist end of the spectrum- those who (yeah, I know) previously voted "no" because it wasn't statist enough?
I suspect that most of those will convert to yes votes- they (at least pretended to) put up a fight to placate the nutroots and their liberal donor base, but those in liberal districts face no real electoral threat from voting yes.
Toss in those who are trying to keep their pending yes vote under the radar as long as possible, plus those who succumbed to presure / extortion / bribery and it's likely this piece of shit will pass.
Sure, some of them might lose an election over it, but there'll be a cushy no-show job waiting for them if they do.

I have no insight into when it happened...the transformation of the Dem party from the party of JFK to the Marxist/Communist/Socialists that now proudly call themselves Democrats. It's utterly shocking there are so many elected officials of any party within our own government whose wishes are to circumvent our beloved Constitution and install their unattainable Commu-fuck utopian society. You just never would've had me believe that....up until about 2 years ago.

Don't think for a moment they wouldn't resort to recess appointments... which are only bad when a Republican does it.
Even if not, there are always positions that don't require Senate approval- board of director and exectutive positions in companies that were "encouraged" to bring them on board, lobbying firms, "consultant" jobs, etc.
It's still a gamble- they're betting that the public will forget or can be convinced that a vote for the reconcilliation bill isn't really a vote for Obamacare.
