— Ace UPDATE: Balloons just dropped. Dipped into the floor, in a way.
It's almost like they're demanding I do it.
13 minutes to the Grand Harmonic Convergence of Jock-Knockers and Pudding.
....
That is the time I'm calling for the Inaugural Mass National Coordinated Ceremonial Dipping.
All across America.
Freedom.
Postponed: Damn, I can't move, and besides, Brown is going to speak in the next 20 minutes.
How about 11:11?
Humpbot: At Hot Air.

Jim Webb:
"In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process. It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated."

That's breaking my heart more than anything...
I can't believe after everything Teddy Kennedy did for that state they decided to put a teabagger there to take his spot. I feel beyond ill. I never thought I'd cry over an election loss, but for Teddy, the vision he had, everything he believed in and worked so hard for, I'm crying for that...

I know, it is simply sadin so many ways. I have lived in MA all my life and have never felt so AWFUL, just really awful. It's not like when the country elected Bush-this feels so personal. Thing is though, Teddy was a great politician-he NEVER took a vote for granted. This wasn't about him, really, it wasn't. Honestly, MC didn't deserve his seat but neither do we deserve Scott Brown.

God bless America! We shall overcome. The greatest nation to ever grace this earth shall not be overrun by over reaching communists. We can now take this country back.
We will once again show the world how it is to live free. We have to show the sheep why it is better to live free and make something of themselves, and forget about having Big Brother take care of them. There is no Allmighty Government that can make bread and circuses out of nothing.
There are only free people and slaves. Free people can make this world into their own paradise. Slaves can only be miserable and dependent on government, their masters, to make things better for them.
Thank you, Massachusetts for leading the way to freedom once again!

One definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result. But I think the real reason liberals want to double-down on health-care is simple: it's all they've got. It's a shitty hand -- a pair of treys at best -- but the alternative is to simply fold and admit they don't know what the fuck they're doing. That they got fleeced, greased, and decreased by the same conservatives that they were mocking as slack-jawed yokels just yesterday. That at base, they have no real ideas, no plans, no essential fucking idea of where to go from here. Foreign policy? The apology tour didn't go so well, and Bammer's personal appearances and shiny Nobel medal didn't seem to warm the cockles of any hearts. Economy: in the toilet, swirling slowly like a turd that won't flush. Congress: gridlocked, more due to Democrat ineptitude than GOP resistance.
Health care at this point is what Moby Dick was to Ahab: the elusive signifier of a Greater Power. It speaks volumes that Democrats now openly say they need to just pass something, no matter what -- that tells you that they don't essentially give a shit if the bill solves all problems, some, or none at all; it's not about health care at all. It's about keeping the Democrat party viable. And people know that now.
The 2010 midterms are going to be a slaughter; that's almost a given by now. The real question is whether the more centrist Dems will pull Obama, Pelosi, and Reid back from the abyss.

Give Senator Brown some room to breathe and grow as a national figure.
Dont rush him into the role of God Savior of the GOP or let him allow his own ambitions to run away with him before he is ready. His popularity is well-earned, and the Senator-elect should be encouraged to help out on the 2010 campaign trail but give the guy some breathing room. He's now in the pool of 2012 VP candidates, but lets give him time to learn-up on the issues.
Not a great opening as a national figure though. His acceptance speech wasnt isnt great. Went going too long. Still going.
I'd give it an 78 out of 100. This is a state legislator talking. Did he just throw his daughter under the bus?

From Jim DeMint tonight:
Scott Brown Wins U.S. Senate Race in Massachusetts
Greenville, SC -- U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF), made the following statement tonight after state Sen. Scott Brown was declared the winner of the special election for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts.
"Republican state Sen. Scott Brown has won the special election for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts. The outcome of this race is truly historic and could be the beginning of a fundamental realignment in American politics toward common-sense, conservative candidates," said Senator DeMint.
"Massachusetts has not elected a Republican to the U.S. Senate since 1972, and President Obama won 62 percent of the vote in the Bay State just 13 months ago. This Senate seat was held by Ted Kennedy for nearly 50 years and was considered one of the safest Democratic seats in the entire country.
"Scott Brown defied the odds because he gave freedom-loving Americans in Massachusetts and across the nation principled reasons to support him with their time and money. He ran against government-run health care, he ran against Washington spending, and he courageously supported broad-based tax cuts to create jobs. He won this race because he was willing to push bold, conservative ideas that set him apart from the Democrat in the race.
"Scott Brown's victory proves that mainstream, conservative candidates can win anywhere in the country if they're willing to fight for the principles of freedom. It proves that conservative candidates can win in states like Pennsylvania, Florida, California, Illinois, and Delaware where the Republican establishment has said only moderates can win. This victory also shows that if Americans are willing to get involved in the political process and fight for their principles, they don't have to settle for second-best.
"Conservatives should be very proud of what they accomplished in Massachusetts tonight, but this is just the beginning. We must continue to engage in Senate race after Senate race to make sure the leaders we send to Washington put principle ahead of party and fight to take our country back."
The Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) is a political action committee dedicated to electing principled, conservative leaders to the United States Senate. SCF has over 100,000 grassroots members nationwide who did their small part to help elect Scott Brown by contributing to his campaign and volunteering to make get-out-the-vote calls from home.

Uh, that's only a difference of a bit over 14,000 votes--which means Dems and their helpers in Acorn and SEIU only need to "find" 30 or so boxes of previously uncounted votes in the trunks of precinct-workers' cars to throw the outcome to Coakley.
Second: Reid has clearly signalled his game plan: "Can't seat him until all the proper paperwork has been submitted." Not-so-subtle message to Mass. Dem state leaders--including Dem governor and Secretary of State: "If you misplace a word or fail to dot an i, or the paper is the wrong size or color, we will--with great sadness, of course--have to send the whole mess back to you and you'll have to convene the state legislature and start ALL OVER."
As someone pointed out, the leaders of the senate have a LOT of latitude in how quickly or slowly they move their fat asses to get something like this done.
Anybody wanna go for the over/under on the date Brown is officially seated in the U.S. Senate?

Stop for a moment my fellow M&M's and consider... tonight the Republic was saved. Just let that sink in... the Republic was saved.
Tomorrow, hell even now, the phones are ringing in the Oval Office to tell O. that it is over. His ghostwritten dreams of his father are gone.
Pelosi will try to hold it together but she will be herding weasles. I imagine a few of the really weak ones will flip in the coming days.
Reid is, in the vernacular, fucked.
Their grab for power, the socalist dream that would tie the majority of Americans to their party forever was thiiiiis close... but it slipped away. Tonight. it. slipped. away...
Imagine their disappointment, their angst, their frustration...
AND I JUST GOTTA DIP MY BALLS IN THAT!
QUOTED FOR FUCKING TRUTH.

Uh, that's only a difference of a bit over 14,000 votes--which means Dems and their helpers in Acorn and SEIU only need to "find" 30 or so boxes of previously uncounted votes in the trunks of precinct-workers' cars to throw the outcome to Coakley.
Uh....are you doing New Math? The current lead is about 100,000 votes.

Yeah, Joan, that's exactly what Brown did, you giant pile. I would tell you to go get a good teabagging from Olbermann but you're the wrong gender for that closet dweller, so out-of-the-closet Maddow will have to do.
How must it be to go through life so miserable and hateful that you would believe and state something like Walsh did? As I always say, whenever you think for a split second that maybe you should try to bridge differences with liberals and try to get along with them, just remember all the deranged, sophomoric, anger-ridden insults they toss at Republicans/conservatives, especially after they don't get their way, like tonight in Massachusetts. How do you ever find common ground or even act civil to people like Joan that think so little of others simply because of their political beliefs or party affiliation? You don't so don't waste your time. I'm sure I'm not the only person that has found this out through direct experience.

So, Brown is not an attorney, longtime state legislator, or 30-year member of the National Guard, but "a wingnut centerfold." Does that mean that instead of calling Ted Kennedy a longtime U.S. Senator or former presidential candidate, we can just call him "a socialist murderer"? Or that instead of the first minority President or former U.S. Senator, we can call Obama "a socialist druggie"?
