— DrewM Yesterday the Alaska Supreme Court rewrote the state's election rules to help Princess MerCOKEski. In response conservatives called on people to sign-up to be a write-in candidate in order to mess with the MerCOKEski plan.
Over a hundred Alaskans heeded the call.
In a movement one pro-Sarah Palin website is calling “Operation Alaska Chaos,” at least 100 people filed paperwork Thursday to register as write-in candidates in the U.S. Senate election, according to the Division of Elections.A stream of would-be senators filtered through the elections office in Midtown Anchorage late in the day, many saying the effort is meant to protest an order by the Alaska Supreme Court on Wednesday allowing a list of write-in candidates to be shown to voters who ask for assistance.
The court action is expected to aid Sen.(MerCOKEski's) write-in bid and amounts to electioneering by the state, say supporters of Republican nominee Joe Miller. The idea of a mass registration is to create a long list of potential write-in choices and make it harder for voters to find (MerCOKEski's) name.
...A list of candidates on the Division of Elections website included more than 40 write-in names late Thursday, but employees at the Anchorage office said other names were still being processed.
Among the write-in candidates listed on the division website Thursday was a “Tom M.,” but no “Lisas.”
Richard Koller of Anchorage imagined (MerCOKEski's) name awash in “a sea of other names” at Alaska polling places as a result of the mass registration.
Well played Alaska conservatives. Well played.
BTW- I haven't seen one of the new 'voter aide' sheets the Alaska Supreme Court is suddenly allowing voters to see (apparently this has never happened before when there were write -in candidates) so I may be spelling Sen. MerCOKEski's name incorrectly. If so, I apologize for the error.

9 That would be nice but if the state has to produce millions of cheat sheets and the voter has to flip through pages of names, it still helps. It's a lot better than getting handed a sheet with one or two names.

Rossi has to win by at LEAST 2% to actually win the race.
I like Rossi just cause he's a good sport. Even though he had an election stolen from him, he bit the bullet and ran again, which is more than I can say for Giuliani who should have run against Gillibrand

Ben, that is what she should have done. Taken 2years off, run a small business giving air tours of McKinley, and then come back rested - tanned - ready. Why she needed commit political suicide is beyond me.
I thought that too, but what she's doing isn't political suicide. It's not in any way like Crist who will never be able to run again.
Mecokesnortski is being supported by the Republican Establishment now, what makes you think they won't support her in 2012.
No, she is in a win win situation. If she wins in 2010 she stays a senator, if she loses she will run agian in 2012 and beat the democrat and become a senator again.
The Mecokesnortski's all but own the Republican party in Alaska, who is going to run against her?

An incumbent Senator maybe? She's being supported by them now because she is the incumbent but next time she will not be. Why would they get back into that mees with her after a 2 year absence? I think at that point it would be pretty easy to walk away.

Joe "lisa murkowski" Smith. It's going to be a fun day for lawyers after the 2nd.

But write-in candidates are wrong, unethical and should be illegal.
Being a write-in candidate to try to steal votes from a real candidate is wrong.
Maybe all these write in candidates should be prosecuted for fraud or something...
If you're not a "real" candidate you shouldn't be allowed on the ballot or list or whatever...
/end psychosis
Man, that's tough; like trying to hold both sides of Orwellian Doublespeak in your head at one time. I'm glad I'm not a liberal... just imagine they have to hold that sort of thing in their head as their beliefs ALL THE TIME.
Which does explain why their ideas are so trite and their plans are so disappointing; if you had to use most of your mental abilities just to keep your brain from braking under the strain of believing contradictory idiocy you'd be slow as well.
