— Ace Solid citizen.
Who would have thought that a drugged-out psychotic whore and serial false accuser would turn out to be a bad seed.
The "attempted murder" charge here seems absurd, though.
The woman who was at the center of the phony Duke lacrosse rape case was arrested today and charged with attempted murder. The Durham Police Department told ABC News that Crystal Gale Mangum got into an argument with her boyfriend, Milton Walker, shortly after midnight on Thursday.
The arrest warrant claims that Mangum, 33, scratched, punched and threw objects at Walker before taking all of his clothes and setting them on fire in a bath tub. Firefighters were sent to the home to extinguish the blaze.
Police said they had to evacuate three children, ages 10, 9 and 3, from the apartment because of the fire. It was not immediately known whose children they were.
Mangum is charged with first-degree attempted murder for communicating a threat because she allegedly told Walker in front of officers, "I'm going to stab you [expletive]!"
Unless she's a Fremen and has mastered the "Killing Word," that's not attempted murder. I suppose they might be using that statement to establish intent and calling the arson the actual act that could lead to death, but that seems contrived.
A group of 88 Duke professors just demanded prosecutors charge the Duke Lacrosse with rape "just because."

If she deliberately set fire to an occupied house/apartment/building, I believe that constitutes attempted murder. In most jurisdictions that's the case anyway.

The best part of the Duke Rape story was when the test results for fluids in her underwear came back with the DNA of 3 different men. None of which were Duke Lax players. Freaking Hilarious.
The question then because did she have a threesome earlier in the day, or did she just not change her underwear after three seperate sexual encounters.
How do those 88 professors still have jobs?

All it takes, is for some students to go "Excuse me Professor, did you sign this statement?'
"Why?"
Watch the answers. Does the school have a newspaper? Post the responses in the paper. Watch what happens.
Unless of course there is no student journalism left.

Rumor on campus is that the firemen raped her, like 8 or 10 times, yeah that's it! Nancy Grace to do a special on raping firemen, tonight.
Remember, she's a proud NC Central U. graduate in wait, wait, "police work", so she'll know when she's been raped again.
Apology from the "88" being written right now, yeah right again.
Remember, don't get mad, get even, the Duke Boy's got over 8 mill each. That would be TAX FREE!

Evidently even without Nifon around they like to overcharge people there. Maybe they like to start high so they can "plea-bargain" it down to what actually happened.
It looks like she is guilty of arson and perhaps assault and battery. But under most juristictions this would be looked at as a typical domestic violence case and she would walk with minor charges and a restraining order that would be ignored.

My husband and I have a Duke degrees. I'm deeply ashamed of what the university has become. Why? The obvious and because comment #33 is not really sarcastic, it is accurate. Very accurate and relatively mild. To this day, Duke is touring the country, going to college presentations and, instead of discussing academics, explaining in excruciating detail how "multi-culturalism" and diversity is their main objective.
They suck and I'm pissed.
Crystal? What did you expect?

hard-core hippy (University of Texas)
I hate that perception. When I went the problem with the hippies and lefty trustfund students (BIG difference - lots of hippie trash couldn't get in) were just the most vocal and strident; like everywhere they shouted down everyone else, and the conservative students were too busy making grades and working (and drinking).
The cowboys did kick down the shanty-town the trash built to protest UT's investments in Shell, though, so it's not a completely lost cause. Before my time, though.

Dagny: I went to Berkeley. Only conservative in a 75-mile radius in any direction. You should see the fun I have when they come calling for alumni donations. Top that.
When they come calling for money I ask if Brodhead is still president and if the gang of 88 has been disciplined.
It's a reunion year and I am getting scads of mail and email to attend. 2 of the chairs are former roommates. I googled their names to see who they donated to in the last election. Obama.
When they call, and they will, I will have my response ready. Mmmm Mmm, Mm

UNC-CH makes Duke look like a conservative heaven. Except for the facility Duke is STILL pretty conservative, over 60% of the students are in Frats or Sororities. Since about 20% of the campus is foreign, that makes for most everyone. Did I mention it costs $60,000 a year. You get a good number of rich conservative kids, along with the Yankees. 15% must come from NC or SC.
UNC Chapel Hill? 60% women, 10% gay, 20% minority. Home of John Edward's poverty program. Speaker of the NC House is from there, can you say hard core commie? This is the Berkley of the South.
Duke guys love to date over there, since most of the UNC guys are gay.

She wasn't "scratch[ing] and punch[ing]" him. She was scratching at the walls of her private hell of injustice.
She wasn't trying to stab him, either. She was trying to cut out the awful memories of that fateful, unavenged night.
She wasn't burning his clothes in the bath tub. It was a symbolic conflagration for the souls of the unpunished.
