11 Hunter was saved by wealth and family.  The family really didn't give a shit about him, but when lucid he was an earner, and an OD death is always bad publicity.  Addiction and other habits would have just made him another statistic.  He's been to rehab more than a few times that we know of, and he will surely relapse sometime and be chalked up as a Covid death.

12 I'm looking for a 6"x10"  ceiling return vent cover that accepts a 6x10x1 air filter. Plus the actual filters, at a reasonable price.
The HVAC installers at the house installed return ducts from the bedroom ceilings to the plenum box for the main ceiling return.
Only problem is, they enter the plenum downstream of the main filter, allowing unfiltered air into the air handler and heat exchanger coils.
Not good for keeping the exchanger surfaces free of dirt and dust.

19 VIA, you may want to consider metal electrostatic filters.  Cost saver in the long run, and one 6X10 should be well under $20. Just set a regular cleaning schedule and you don't have to buy filters anymore.

Gonna maybe go with that. I really want to find something with a hinged door, as repetitive removal of the actual grill from the drywall will eventually create problems for the fasteners.  Amazon has a reference to something like that, but out of stock, and no idea when they come back.
The electrostatics would be very hard to backlit, so I really want to go low-tech.

No matter how insane he is now, you can go back decades and see that he was always a little crazy and a lot stupid so the demarcation into complete dementia is hard to pin down. When someone who was once articulate and intelligent loses mental capacity, it clangs like a bell.

I've never tried them, but people rave about Duluth Trading Company's jeans

the last couple of pairs of jeans I've had have been the "no brand" $14 jeans from Walmart / Sam's; they've been perfectly cromulent

62 F'd, here's a tip on buying jeans.  Take a tape measure.  Fasten a pair at home that fits, and measure the waist (laid flat should be about half the size).  When you're at the store, measure each pair you buy.  I bought three pair of wranglers, all marked the same size, and each were different (only tried on one pair). I guess when the material runs short in the sweat shop, they make do.

105 They think they're the "cool kidz" now. I'm seeing a little bit of passive resistance in the form of mask trash on the ground. Saw several in the hospital parking lot yesterday when I went to visit B'Gal, so I helped by throwing mine there too.

Developing a new vocabulary and mask etiquette demonstrates the desire on the part of many to make this permanent. Plus the makers of these face kotex products want it to stay.

BB, love the tag line. The reality, not so much.

No kidding. It still looks as though the rest of the world has lost its mind to me. I'm glad I'm 29. I'd hate to be a young'un and have to contend with all the bullshit of life these days.

Lt. Cmdr Ripley was right: IQs did go down suddenly.

108 I love everything I own made by Carhartt. They make the best winter fleece hats. Look utterly dorky but work better than anything I've owned.

109 Today is the day I tackle the box of paperwork I've been meaning to sort for...a long time now.  Shocking, how I've procrastinated.  Well, not shocking at all if you know me.

I took a class on decluttering (for the company tbh). Guess what the instructor admitted he couldn't help with? Ha ha. I have binders marked "auto" and "retirement" etc. because I'm a piler, not a filer.

110 I'd mentioned during a gainzz and planzzz thread that I was going to Prescott AZ over spring break to plan our Escape from CA.  I'd been going off of climate, demographic, and other online information.  In person did not disappoint.  What a beautiful town and seemingly a great place to live. I'm sold and the Missus is about 50%.  The most charming section of the town is not necessarily out of our price range, but I just don't see any houses for sale there. They must sell very quickly.

111 We have several boxes of papers.  Old taxes (10 years and older), child care docs, divorce docs, school and work docs.  It all needs to be shredded or burned.

I've discovered that around here the "self storage" joints sometimes will have an onsite shredding biz on the side.  Typically some sort of franchise thing.  Might be worth looking into?

Well time to make the waffles

Now is the right time... or maybe later... or tomorrow... no now is definitely the right time... or in an hour or so... but then again, this afternoon is a possibility... aack!!

114 I own two pairs of Duluth Trading Company firehose jeans, and that's pretty much all I wear, pant-wise.  They're great, especially since they have some give in the waist.  I'm between sizes (one size is too small, the next size up too big), so these fit really nicely.

Heh, no, it will be Trump's fault for publicizing Hunter's troubles "Where's Hunte?"(no mention of graft) -- 'it drove him deeper into depression blah blah blah'.

118 Can't imagine buying shoes online, I try lots on in right size and don't like them.

Posted by: Skip at April 11, 2021 08:38 AM

I did until this year. I could usually buy a brand's same size in the same or similar style. Then I bought a pair of New Balance lightweight sneakers and the mesh started coming apart at the seams after two months. My gardening shoes are supposedly the same style; I've thrown them in the wash so many times without damaging the uppers.

124 So, while watching a hockey game the other day I saw three different commercials in rapid succession:

1. Guy in women's clothing and stylish make-up saying something to the effect of, "You must acknowledge my truth. It's time for you to see me for what I am..."  (I admit, I chuckled at that bit)

2. Voiceover touting "...the principles on which this country was founded, the true definition of America, blah, blah, blah. Because all lives can't matter until Black Lives Matter."  (head scratching moment)

3. Ex-presidents and first ladies pimping the COVID vaccine, so that we can move this country forward.  Obama and Michelle, Dubya and Laura, Bill and Hill, all rolling up their sleaze to take the jab.  There was a brief appearance by a cadaveric Jimmah Carter. Notably absent, Donald and Melania Trump (not surprisingly)

Shut up and just drop the damn puck!!

I loved the quality of those jeans but they don't have enough belt loops for wearing a holster.  My holster slid all over the place wearing those things.
