— Ace Topic one at BlogCon (hosted by these fine folks at Freedom Works) was Castle/O'Donnell, but that kept becoming a forbidden topic for reasons we all know too well.
Topic two was what an ummitigated submoron Megan McCain was. Usually topic two helped bring back the camaraderie lost over topic one.
On June 20, 2002, the United States Supreme Court decreed, in the case of Atkins v. Virginia, that the mildly mentally retarded were categorically exempt from capital punishment, reasoning that fully functional adults of diminished mental capacity were as a matter of law not as culpable for their acts. Writing eloquently in dissent, Justice Scalia drew a sharp distinction between the severely mentally retarded (who are truly not responsible for their actions), and the merely stupid (the category into which Mr. Atkins undoubtedly fell). Scalia argued forcefully that, with respect to the merely stupid, at least sometimes they deserve to be punished for their antisocial and destructive behavior. This article, of course, is not about capital punishment. It is a book review of Dirty, Sexy Politics by Meghan McCain. However, the above discussion is relevant because I initially had reservations about writing this book review at all. After all, it is clear to everyone who has read Meghan McCain’s twitter feed, her “articles” on The Daily Beast, or her ill-fated campaign blog that Meghan is not a not a paragon of clear reasoning, exemplar of familiarity with facts, nor a model of English language expertise. And after subjecting myself to 194 continuous pages of her “writing,” it became clear that none of the above-described works truly plumbed the depths of mental vacuity in which Ms. McCain aimlessly and cluelessly drifts.
This presented a dilemma.
It is impossible to read Dirty, Sexy Politics and come away with the impression that you have read anything other than the completely unedited ramblings of an idiot. This being a professional website for which I have a great deal of respect, I searched for a more eloquent or gentle way to accurately phrase the previous sentence – but could not find one.
My own contribution to this is that Megan McCain has internalized the left's idea that the victim of persecution is holy. And thus she attempts to construct a narrative in which she is such a victim of persecution.
She is persecuted, you see, because:
1. She is young.
2. She has tattoos and/or tatas.
3. She likes gay bikers.
...and therefore Republicans don't like her, so she's persecuted or something.
Of course, none of those are actually the reasons Republicans don't like her; those reasons might include:
1. She never stops talking about the fact that i) she is young; ii) she has tattoos and/or tatas; or iii) she likes gay bikers.
2. She is a confirmed submoron.
3. She is an entitled pepperpot nepot who has been given large amount of money and attention due to the fact that she is the daughter of someone famous (daddy) and someone rich (mommy). And also, she is given this attention for the exact reasons she claims are the reasons for her persecution, to wit, i) she is young; ii) she has tattoos and/or tatas, and iii) she likes gay bikers.
4. It's a little bit much to be lectured about the trajectory of American politics from someone whose seminal political memory is the day Alf announced he would no longer eat cats out of a concern for global warming.
More: a funny post on the lost chapters of Megan McCain's mamm-oirs.
Kathleen Parker is my new BFF. She totally digs me, even though she mentioned me at the same time as the evil Darth Cheney’s daughter. I’m totally adding her to my Hanukwanzamas card list! She’s not like that h8r-ade drinker, Anne Coulter. You guys, did you read my essay at Daily Beast about that? It was super awesome. I write at The Daily Beast, you know. For reals! I’m, like, a writer and stuff!Anyways, she’s a poop head. And she doesn’t even have a juicy ass! Right, boys? Wink! OMG – I look so cute when I wink! So, girlfriends, look what I wrote.
By. Myself.
“Everything about her is extreme: her voice, her interview tactics, and especially the public statements she makes about liberals,” McCain wrote. “Maybe her popularity stems from the fact that watching her is sometimes like watching a train wreck.”
Super cool me: 1. H8r-ade drinker Coulter: 0
Or:
We have to bridge the divide in this country between smart, tolerant progressives and bible-thumping RethugliKKKan h8ers. And since I represent the best of both worlds, I went on “Real Time With Bill Maher.” Because like my dad, I’m all about bipartisanship. And tweeting with Snooki! So I did the show, and even though I’m the good kind of inclusive Republican, this old dude named Paul Begala got h8r-ade all over my cute black suit that I bought special for TV. OMG, he was so vicious like a conservative or something even though he totally has mountains of liberal cred. Anyway, what happened is I told this guy that I loathe Bush like all intelligent and enlightened people, but it’s time for Obama to stop blaming Bush for everything. And then this happened:
PAUL BEGALA, DEMOCRATIC STRATEGIST: Not to enough of a degree. I’m sorry. Not nearly enough. Ronald Reagan blamed Jimmy Carter every day for eight years. In the speech — in the speech, what President Bush said one of the things he’s had to adjust to…MCCAIN: I wasn’t born yet, so I don’t know.
BEGALA: I wasnÂ’t born during the French Revolution, but I know about it.
MAHER: HeÂ’s a mean man, Paul Begala.
MCCAIN: You clearly know everything. So — and I’m just a blonde sitting here.
I think he h8ed on me because I’m young and blonde. How am I supposed to know stuff that happened all the way back in the sixties? But duh! This isn’t shocking. Republican women always get treated so unfair. Except for Sarah Palin — she was totally asking for it.
That exchange is for real. Begala -- who is a dick; make no mistake about that -- pointed out that if Meggie-Mac wanted to comment on politics, she had to up her game and maybe read up on stuff that happened before 2007, and her response was to claim Begala was just putting her down for being "blonde."
So there we are in 2010 -- young, pretty blonde women with huge cans are victimized by not being given enough attention on television.
BTW, I have no problem with young, cute-ish, busty blonde chicks on television. If I'm going to hear a lot of stupid blather (and that's going to happen most nights you're watching cable news), I'd rather have some bazongas to look at while I gnaw the meat off my own fingers.
However, to claim that such women are discriminated at on television?
Really? Want to explain how this becomes the day's must-mention story?
It's not h8er-ade, Meggie Mac. It's annoyance over a twit.
Speaking of hate, by the way, I came up with a new GOP slogan this weekend. I'm going to pitch it to Ladd Ehlinger, Jr.
Today's GOP
Let's put aside the old hatreds yesterday,
and focus on the new hatreds of tomorrow.

Yes it moves on to a criticism of her so called facts as fictional, and criticizes her inability coherently express her "thoughts" (I am not convinced that what goes on in her mind technically qualifies as thought) ;
And ends with criticism of her imagined state of persecution, and her conduct which mimics a 4 year old spoiled child.

"My own contribution to this is that Megan McCain has internalized the left's idea that the victim of persecution is holy. And thus she attempts to construct a narrative in which she is such a victim of persecution."
She noticed that nobody likes her or respects her opinion -- not even her father's own campaign -- and so she wondered why. She considered that perhaps it's because she's naive, uninformed, unjustifiably opinionated, loud-mouthed and vulgar... but she rejected that, because in her mind she's none of those things (except maybe vulgar, which she regards as "sexy").
Thus the dislike aimed at her must, in her view, originate from the bigoted intolerance of the Republican Party. But why would they be intolerant of a nice person like her, she wondered? And that's how she came up with the list of criteria you cite of things about herself that would incite bigoted hatred:
1. She is young.
2. She has tattoos and/or tatas.
3. She likes gay bikers.

Also, not so sure about her being stupid. Self-infatuated, sure. Intellectually incurious, obviously. But she's never been expected to make any efforts toward refining her mental faculties; she's received enough positive RF just from being the daughter of the rich and the powerful that she's never needed anything more. Now, she may really be vacuous rather than merely ignorant and immature, but given her complete lack of motivation to grow up and get a clue, the world may never know.

Limbaugh held up a picture of how she was dressed that day to the dittocam, and implied it was rather skimpy. Of course, my car radio doesn't show pictures so that didn't help. He said the picture was from a Chicago sports blog, in case that helps someone find it.

"Jeans and a white button-up blouse [are] in no way inappropriate"
Honey when the presidents faces on your change are showing through the fabric of your jeans: when you can hear all the little rivets voices screaming in pain: when the horses hitched to the pants on the label on the label say "Damn I didn't think these pants were made for that!": you might get a few *comments* when you enter a men's locker room.

Heh, sounds true enough to me.
In that same vein, perhaps we've stumbled upon the answer about her unkempt hair. She tried to shower once and her keepers noticed that she was in the shower for several hours. When they finally pulled her out and asked why she stayed in the shower for so long, Meghan replied "The shampoo bottle said 'lather, rinse, repeat'. It didn't say when to stop...".
and from that moment on, she was forbidden to wash her hair with shampoo.

In Ms. Andrews' defense, I've never seen her or any other of those other bimbos wearing any kind of jeans on a national broadcast. They are always in business attire, usually in dress slacks rather than a skirt. Still, it's becoming less and less professional all around, slowly. At one of the football games Saturday, the "reporter"was doing the usual silly pre-half-time quickie interview, and she caled the coach by his first name, not "Coach." Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but it bugged me.
If Ms. Sainz wants to be treated professionally, she could start by not dressing like a groupie.

'Ronald Reagan blamed Jimmy Carter every day for eight years.'
I call BS on this. I don't recall Reagan ever mentioning Carter after the election. Unlike the abominable McCain, I was alive at the time.
Rob,
Absolutely. Like most of Begala's claims, this one is utterly false. Reagan didn't mention Carter, even in the most obvious and appropriate circumstances. It was as if Carter never existed.
I recall being surprised at Reagan's self-discipline. Over time I came to realize that it was simply a matter of character. Reagan didn't see any point in placing blame. It was the same as whining, which is something real leaders don't do.
For proof of that, we only have to look at the current White House bitch. (Is that what he means when he whines that we talk about him like a dog?)

Ms. McCain should just admit her biases and become a dem. Kind of like when Ronald Reagan's two youngest children (Ron Jr. and daughter Patti
decided they would be liberals and too bad if mom & dad didn't like it.
The Reagan kids weren't exactly setting the world on fire with their brilliance, esp Ron Junior, but they went their way and history moved on.
I get the feeling that the dems don't want Ms. McCain in their party. It's much funnier to have her as the opposition and make her look like a dummy.
Posted by: Boots at September 13, 2010 11:41 AM (06JTY)
For the record, women with big'uns, even women who are good-looking in general, are assumed to be stupid. It's hardly an excuse to actually BE stupid, though. Also for the record, McCain is a complete dog so she can't get away with the excuse as it is.

Everybody lay off of Megan McCain. Frankly, I found her book very informative and enlightening. How many of you guys are published like she is? Your just jealous.
And this:
So Begala is comparing a "fact" he really just pulled out of his ass (because Reagen never blamed Jimmy Carter every day for eight years but really hardly ever talked about Carter) to the French Revolution. That's a laugh riot right there. But even if true he is saying Reagan's bitching about Carter is so damned well known that its on the level of the French Revolution, its taught in Western Civ. all over the country.
Begala you are a hack and I hate you.

Her upbringing and life have been soft and privileged. The Best this world has to offer has been willingly offered to her to sort through as her indulgent whims come and go. There is a Mr. Magoo-like quality to everything she does in the sense that she is completely unaware of the environment she is in and yet she wrangled a fucking book deal and has gotten far more publicity than she and her product deserve.
She succeeds because her parents have idiot proofed her life; step 2 has been handled for her, all she has to do is be competent at steps 1 & 3 and avoid drug addiction. But the most crucially important thing for her to remember is: Meggy Mac MUST NOT FUCK AROUND WITH STEP 2.
The fact that people of the same mental acumen but without her privileged life or beauty will never be anywhere near a presidential candidate, much less see the inside of a private jet, has not quite sunk in. When it does (in about 5-7 years), she'll get another book deal to tell us all about her inner journey to becoming a Democrat.
My only problem with smooth running idiots is when they get bossy. I have worked for several SRIs and they do the most damage when people's livelihoods depend upon doing what the SRI's want and listening to SRI's blather on about their 'vision' and/or how cool they are. This is because SRI's, even though they are the biggest idiots in the room, are NEVER, EVER failures. Failures, don't get into Columbia. Failures don't get book deals at 25.

By far the biggest problem the Republican coalition has right now is moderates who refuse to accept defeat at the hands of conservatives. Think Dede Scozzafava endorsing the Democrat in NY-23. Think Charlie Crist and Arlen Specter bailing the party and running against the Republican when it became clear that they would lose their primaries. Think Lincoln Chafee currently running as an independent for Governor of Rhode Island despite the NRSC spending millions to help him defeat a conservative in the primary. I defy Meghan McCain to identify a conservative candidate who acted or behaved in this way towards the party after a primary loss.
Amen.

I don't want to see Begala's brother put him down, because I know it will be a good-natured "You're not heavy but you're my brother" banter. I want to see something more along the Simon Cowell line, where someone tells that little pussy the truth about himself and dares him to do something about it.
Begala has a huge man-crush on Bill Clinton, because it makes him feel tough hanging around a ruthless tyrannical monster who abuses his power. He needs to be humiliated to the point at which he will no longer be able to show his face.
