— Dave in Texas Ok, I got a paycheck, dangling it here in front of anybody who wants this action, that says "Andrew Sullivan of the Extreme Vaginal Heartache" is sooo not done with the Trig Conspiracy.
Takers? Line up over there. By the water fountain.. no pushing.
This one is couched in the beautiful terms of "a reader writes". (This link goes to the Atlantic, if anybooger wants to send me an alternative, the lines are open).
The reader:
While it is certain that her tale is not credible, it is not just the wild ride aspect of the story that raises eyebrows; this has to be taken in the context of all the other things that don't add up about her story. The lack of a pregnant physique, and then the impossibly-morphing body shapes. The fact that no one knew. The timing of the announcement. The odd story of the too-early amniocentesis. The disappearance of Bristol, her pregnant appearance and substantiated claims that she was pregnant in 2007. The lack of any documentation whatsoever of the birth. The changing details...
St. Andrew responds, "I think this series of facts is telling. It's what has dragged me back into this again and again. But without any hard evidence, I do think we have reached an impasse here".
Really? Are we here now?
NOW?
I can't steal it all.. here, I'll add some Dave adjustments (mine completely):
the.. the absence of people moving around the streets.. the tunnels.. my God, what did those mean? Miles of tracks laid under these vast cities.. and the incredible weight of the stones. Who could have moved these to their peaks in the desert? How did they get there? And what about the faces on Easter Island? Those vaginas are not indiginous to the westward shores. Makemake does not roll that way. How did these pyramids come to be? Who's got a spare drink ticket?
The kind hearted-reader wonders, "why would you pick on a lunatic so?" (or keep boring me with this crap?).
The answer is directed toward The Atlantic, who apparently needs the hits.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – In the city where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, a once-unbeatable former mayor wants the Democratic congressional primary to be a referendum on race.
Willie Herenton is accusing white two-term incumbent U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen of "trying to act black." He tells voters in this majority-black city that they "need to come off that Cohen plantation and get on the Herenton freedom train."
But President Barack Obama has endorsed Cohen, who has an "A" rating from the NAACP and has built support in the black community by supporting civil rights legislation and bringing much-needed federal funding to Memphis schools and hospitals.
"It appears that the former mayor is making race the basis of his campaign, but I don't think voters are going to go for that at all," Cohen said. "President Obama's election proves that voters don't look at race when making a decision in an election."
Herenton is betting they will. Though in interviews he's happy to address issues like improving public schools, creating jobs and bolstering small minority businesses, on the campaign trail he focuses mostly on race and his contention that Tennessee needs "just one" black representative in its all-white congressional delegation.
"I believe that the Constitution includes all of God's children and that we ought not to be segregated or treated differently because of our race, because of our class or because of religion," Herenton told voters during a campaign stop, invoking the language of the civil rights movement. "In this great American democracy, people, people, diverse people ought to have representation."

When the hits dwindle at Tepid Air, Allahpundit asks Andi to write about Palin again, so he can wake the Faithful to angry hoots of derision.
Ed "Pillsbury Doughboy" Morrissey can't write that stuff, 'cause he's busy guest-hosting some talk-radio show in West Bumfuck, South Dakato, and writing "on the other hand..." doesn't cut it when speculating about Palin's fertility.
When the tea-sipping lounge lizards at NRO run out of WFB anecdotes, they need something to fill their link-heavy "analysis pieces ("As _____link_______ said in his fine piece dissecting ____link______ for the _____-link________ blog, which ______link_____ agreed with in his fine piece for ______link_______ magazine....") and hatin' on Andi is just so peachy-keen.

This goes toward my theory that Obama hates independent black politicians. He's fine with them, as long as they are wholly beholden to him. For example, he had no patience for Paterson in NY or Burris in IL. I expect him to throw Kendrick Meek under the bus in Florida.
I'm sure it looks like good politics in some of these cases, but too many times is more than a coincidence.

Go find that quote from me.
I'll wait.
No I won't because you can't.
The problem for you is, I said the exact opposite. They are different things and we shouldn't use the terms interchangeably. Let's take a walk down memory lane...all the way back to yesterday:
No. For the millionth time or so...I question whether her crap today, and it is crap. is racism or leftism.
She (Sherrod) should be held to account for what she said about Breitbart and FNC but for the right thing.
There's a difference between leftism and racism. I think it's important to use the right term to qualify and attack her.
Just because things are different, doesn't mean they are mutually exclusive. You can be a leftist and not a racist and you can be a racist and not a leftist. You can obviously be both. Words matter.
I get that going after me gives you a thrill or something but I'd appreciate it if you'd actually go after me for something I'd actually said.
More importantly..,yeah there's been a lot of bashing back and forth lately around here. Maybe we could contain it to threads having to do with actual issues. This seems like it could be a fun thread where we bash Sullivan not each other.
I'm happy to give it a rest (notice I skipped your earlier shots but I'm not letting misquotes go by), how about you?

Sarah Palin as GOP standard bearer is an interesting proposition. I am not sure she is ready yet, but there is certainly something there. They used to dismiss Ronald Reagan too. Amiable dunce was one such term they used to describe him, but it turned out they (progressives/democrats) feared him most.
When you throw a rock into a pack of wolves, the one that howls loudest is the one that was hit. Sarah Palin sure does make all the right people howl.

Much of the left have little regard for history, and hold its makers in contempt. They have little respect for its lessons either. This helps to explain why the left repeats the same mistakes over and over again.

No, they actually did invite him but he declined. He said that he had nothing in common with them.
There was a white guy from CA who was elected in a majority black district who ran on a platform saying he would join because the majority of his constituents were black.
They refused to let him join though because they said he was not black. They actually came right out and said it openly that they were an organization for blacks only.
So, in effect, they are an organization of the government that has a racially discriminatory membership policy. I guess the civil rights act of 1964 doesn't apply to the House.

There is something much more wrong going on here.
I get not wanting to publicly acknowledge being in error .
Nothing more gut churning, in my experience.
But he's not even being called on to do that, even by his editors at The Atlantic!
All he needs to do is just STFU about his crazy to keep his gig.
Not denounce it, not walk it back, not publish any sort of retraction, just leave it alone!
But he manifestly can't.
At what point do the editors of The Atlantic make the decision to cut ties with someone so obviously incapacitated?
I mean, I'm starting to feel pity for the man but still, I don't have a responsibility to maintain the perceived integrity of a Masthead in these quickly churning media waters...

Familiarity breeds contempt. Everyone is tired of him now, but I remember thinking "that guy is gonna be the next president" when he gave that convention speech in 2004.
The best thing he could do for his own political career is cut back on air time. Even his supporters are sick of seeing his face on the tube every damn day.

You must put it in context: during the campaign, especially the early days, Obama only had to speak on topics he wanted to speak about. He could make his message as vague and emotionally manipulative as he wished, because he didn't have to react to events (as he had no actual responsibilities). So he could give speeches that were entertaining and exciting (to his audiences) and he could let himself be the blank slate onto which they projected their hopes for a post-Bush, "historically Black" President.
Under those circumstances, his audiences of course found him terribly charismatic. And the reporting on their reactions created the popular myth of his charisma.
During his campaign, though there were plenty of times to see how arrogant and ignorant he truly is, his reputation for charisma served as his Emperor's New Clothes. And even a number of people who saw through that reputation conspired to keep it going for fear that the Democrats would be stuck with another Clinton as their nominee.

Those Germans. This never woulda happened in the old days when they could all march.
My husband is mostly German. We took a dance class together once and I cracked up when we learned the waltz. Everyone else was taking gentle dance steps and counting "one, two, three". Somehow the genes reared up, took over, and caused him to lift up his knees with each step. I could almost hear "eins, zwei, drei" coming from his general direction.

Also, consider that Obama had an adoring media willing to cut, edit, and spin him into the most charismatic guy in the world.
Plus, if you go back and review a lot of interviews and coverage of Obama, much as we think he gave big blustering speeches, when it came right down to it, he kept his mouth shut a lot too and let other people speak for him.
That said, ObamaÂ’s ascendance tracks fairly well to HitlerÂ’s (not to go all Godwin). But, the end result of electing him has been nothing like what happened with Germany in the early 30s when they elected Hitler. Our country is not improving, at all. Now one can argue it is probably a good thing that Obama isnÂ’t seeing the same success as Hitler based on what came later in HitlerÂ’s reign. But, there are a lot of disappointed sheep right now waking up to discover that not only are things NOT better under Obama, but things are becoming quickly appreciably worse.
And, in timing that could not be worse, the veil is off the journolist fools, so a lot of their ability to spin for their savior is now undermined.

He has a real skill for saying what people want to hear. It's funny, but when he gave his excuse for not talking to the head of BP, he said that those guys are only gonna say what you want to hear. It's the old saying that a thief is always the first to lock the door. His first excuse was that the head of BP would lie, and of course that is all bammy knows how to do.
Every time I hear him talk I hear lies. A few days ago he said something about how the people expect their government to cut back in hard times. It sounds so convincing but is so contrary to reality. Where does he get the gall? But he does know exactly what to say to win over fools. That is his constituency - fools. People that can hear the guy that ran up $2T+ in deficits talk about being prudent without puking.
If you fall into that category, then he sounds so reasonable. So healthy for mankind. If you believe he can turn back the water, then gosh, he's charismatic. If you have a brain, if you think, if you know and remember facts then he is scum. If you are in touch with reality, he is disgusting.

She told us she and her friends truly believed in Hitler up until the death of Rommel. That's when she started losing faith.
Why would she start losing faith in Hitler when Rommel died? So far as she and all Germans knew, Rommel died of his wounds, sustained in an air attack on his automobile. That was the story provided by official Nazi sources; the Nazi leadership did not want it known that Rommel was forced to commit suicide because of his involvement in the 20 July Plot to kill Hitler. This was kept secret from Germans until after the war.

What bothers me about the Andrew Sullivan/Trig Truther story is that so many conservative bloggers think it's funny. Gay-man-obsessed-with-Palins-vagina. Nobody seems to remember where the story was headed before it was announced that Bristol was pregnant. If Sarah didn't give birth to Trig, then it must have been Bristol who did. Why would an 18 year old girl give birth to a baby with Downs Syndrome? Incest, of course.
Andrew Sullivan is not obsessed with Palin's vagina. He is obsessed with the idea that Bristol is the victim of incest. That's always been his goal. It's not Sarah Palin he's insane over, it's Todd or Track. My guess is, considering Sullivans history, it's Track who haunts his dreams. I don't find it funny, I find it sick.
