Fauxmentum: Kildee a Yes
— Ace

This NYT article calls Kildee a "Stupak ally," but in fact he's not on many' people's lists of the Stupak 12.

Gabe tells me he already assumed Kildee was a Yes so this is no change from his analysis. But the media will claim he's one of Stupak's 12 -- note that deceptive way the NYT phrases it, "Stupak ally" though not a Stupak vote -- and will use this as evidence as more fauxmentum.

Thanks to both Drew and Gabe, and Gabe for "fauxmentum."

The Landmark Legal Foundation announced today:

(LEESBURG, VA, MARCH 17, 2010)Â…Mark R. Levin, president of Landmark Legal Foundation, today issued a warning to the leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives about the possible use of the so-called “deem and pass,” “self-executing,” or “Slaughter Rule” to enact H.R. 3590, the legislative version of President ObamaÂ’s healthcare proposal that has been previously approved by the Senate. If this tactic is employed, Landmark will immediately sue the President, Attorney General Eric Holder and other relevant cabinet members to prevent them from instituting this unconstitutional contrivance.

I have a serious question about something that's been bugging me.  Is there some deep problem with Republicans that causes them to lose to Democrats on almost every issue?

Yes, I am aware that they have the media and Hollywood.  But I honestly wonder if it goes beyond that.

Republican "leaders" seem to honestly lack the courage to go up against Democrats.  The GOP sometimes has the majority, but always gets rolled anyway.  Are Republicans too moral to compete?  The Democrats, having forsaken belief in God, are free to do any evil thing to get their way.

This doesn't just apply to Congress either.  It applies to those of us out here on the ground as well.  I never see Republicans attacking Democrats, but Democrats attack Republicans out of the clear blue sky all the time.  When they do, Republicans complain about the unfairness of it, instead of expunging the Democrats who do evil things.

We need to start by realizing the need for serious self-defense, and defense of one another.  For instance, Republican women going to vote, or to a political rally, should be given armed protection whenever possible.  I don't doubt that SEIU and ACORN, and other similar groups, will target women, since they are cowards who prey on the weak.

We aren't going to win a political fight if we're too scared to get into a street fight.

@26: "Is there some deep problem with Republicans that causes them to lose to Democrats on almost every issue?"

Yes, and you identified a big part of it.  Cowardice is probably the fundamental characteristic of the Republican Party.  The reason? Ultimately, the rank-and-file of the party know that the folks leading it are pretty much cool with the Democrat agenda, they just don't want it enacted as fast as the Dems do.

That's why they never really oppose and never seriously attempt to repeal.  They have no desire to do so.

@63:  true enough, but I'm asking if it goes deeper than the assholes in Congress.  Why is it you never hear about Republicans busting into the dorm room of someone in the College Democrats and assaulting him, as a Democrat did to a College Republican a few years ago?  I'm not saying everybody should do that, but you'd think that if there were roughly equal numbers of GOP and Dems, and ten Dems assaulted random Republicans in five years, that you'd somewhere have at least nine Republicans assaulting random Democrats.  But it's zero.

I thought the 'Man in the Yellow Hat' was going to swoop in and save little Barack!

George was smarter and could do math.

Is there some deep problem with Republicans that causes them to lose to Democrats on almost every issue?

Thomas Sowell has written about this and I agree with him. It's a different "world view". They think that anything that they do to gain their desirable and noble ends is justified. Lie, cheat, steal, lie more, manipulate, destroy other people's lives, and, in the extreme, murder (see Stalin, et al), are all fine actions as long as it gets them closer to their goal which is a state controlled utopia. They don't believe in the individual.

We think that we cannot commit crimes against natural law to achieve our goals because then the result would be illigitimate. We believe in the individual and his worth.

It is morality but we see morality differently.

Would a republican just go out and tell a completely fabricated lie to influence this vote? No

Would a democrat? Yes

93 Hollywood calls 'Truce' on war films

"In just one week, war-themed content has spanned the highs (best pic Oscar for "The Hurt Locker") and lows ("Green Zone's" opening weekend)."

"In fact, "Hurt Locker's" multiple Oscar statues have only translated into an extra $1 million at the domestic box office since Oscar weekend."

Commenter momo:

"Truce? Haha, how about humiliating defeat? "Truce" reminds of the Black Knight in Monty Python''s The Holy Grail: ''Let's call it a draw.'' Hollywood has been resoundingly rebuked by the movie-going public and they''re still in denial. As all the other posters have said, it''s not war movies we''re tired of, it''s anti-American war movies. I don''t think Hollywood really knows how to make any other kind."

@78: "We don't need to attack them, but we need to fight back.  If someone bites my finger off, he's going down."

You've already conceded the initiative to the enemy and limited yourself to playing defense.  Defensive warfare leads to defeat.

As I see it, we are very close to a crucial decision for the nation: What is more important - the process or the result?  If you value the process (read: democratic process) more than the result (read: liberty), then you must be prepared to accept the Glorious Socialist Utopia that awaits.  If you value the result more than the process, then you must be prepared to resort to much more stern measures.

Even assuming that the GOP is actually opposed to the Glorious Socialist Utopia (and that is far from a given IMHO), its members, and most of the Right in general, value the political process more than freedom and independence.  It's a fair call, I suppose, but perhaps not one I am wholly square with.

The Left?  Well, they value the result (the Glorious Socialist Utopia) far more than the process.  To them, the democratic process is simply a tool to be used.  Whenever it proves to be less-than-useful, it is immediately discarded.

I can't think of a time when a Republican was called a racist that they didn't dance backwards, shrink, twitter out a bunch of excuses, and cower like hell. The Republicans need to be proactive or they ain't winnin' shit, this November.

I already came up with the brilliant idea of all the Republicans leaving Washington to go home to the constituencies to hold 'emergency' townhall-type meetings. It would not only educate people and raise awareness, it would cut the knees out from under the Democrats.

But, really, right now, only political junkies like us know about the shennanigans happening in Washington. The GOP machine sucks.

117 Kent Conrad says reconciliation in Senate will be dodgy

Today, Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND)–chair of the Senate Budget Committee–didn’t provide them much peace of mind.

Conrad addressed a meeting of Senate Democrats to explain the reconciliation process to them. On his way out, I and several other reporters caught up with him. I asked whether the package being assembled by House and Senate Democrats will survive the Byrd rule, which requires a reconciliation bill to amend tax or entitlement law, without increasing the deficit.

“We haven’t finished the process of going through things that are Byrd-able,” Conrad said.

“Is it a close call on some of them?” I asked.

“Oh yeah,” Conrad said.

Heh, I lol'd when I got my paper this a.m. and there was a front page article titled "Obama's New Partner:  Al Sharpton", complete with a picture of said sleazeball, Al Sharpton.  (Article by Peter Wallsten, WSJ)

"'The president doesn't need to get out there and do what we should be doing,' Mr. Sharpton told [Tavis] Smiley during the testy exchange.  He argued that expecting Mr. Obama to become a black exponent of black views was 'just stupid,' because it would create fodder for conservatives looking to defeat legislation that could ultimately help blacks.

...Mr. Sharpton is an unlikely White House partner, given his racially polarizing history and efforts by Mr. Obama's 2008 campaign team to steer clear of the civil rights leader....Mr. Sharpton has been to the White House five times since Mr. Obama took office, most recently this month as part of a small group meeting with economics advisor, Lawrence Summers.  Mr. Sharpton's radio program, which airs in 27 markets, has become a friendly platform for administration officials to address black listeners...

Now there are signs that Mr. Sharpton will play a role in this fall's midterm elections.  DNC Chairman, Timothy Kaine conferred with Mr. Sharpton this month on sending him to black churches and neighborhoods in politically important state to register and mobilize black voters."

Fauxmentum?  Everything about Obama is fake--from the styrofoam columns to his distancing himself from Al Sharpton during the presidential election.  He is cut from the same cloth as brother Al.  A racist, money grubbing, grievance mongering con man.

Get that? It's important because he failed to become a priest. His calling was false. His 6 years of seminary doesn't make him some religious authority and it certainly gives him no more weight than any other Catholic.

I appreciate his past pro-life votes but they don't amount to anymore than his failed attempt to become a priest if he votes to force people to pay for others abortions and the Senate bill clearly does that. It's not an issue where almost counts.

Now there are signs that Mr. Sharpton will play a role in this fall's midterm elections.  DNC Chairman, Timothy Kaine conferred with Mr. Sharpton this month on sending him to black churches and neighborhoods in politically important state to register and mobilize black voters."

Al Sharpton is the King of Public Relations.

 He did wonders for me.

Republicans think they have a winner to run on in Nov if this goes through. They're pols before they're humans w/ a few exceptions * Paul Ryan - yum*. So they're not going to say a peep till it passes then it'll be all about repeal THIS Bill!!!  All the while, they know the chances of doing that are zero to below zero.

What I want to know is why the hell Fox just runs clips of what bozo said and not the stumble, bumble evasive and actually inability to answer the questions that LED up to the supposed answer? The clips make it look like he actually SAID something.  He was enormously high on the squirm meter.

And next I'd like to know what the hell is going on at Intrade?  Down 35 overnight, now up 30?

Don't tell me the Dems are trying to trick us?? /s

173 Excellent unit capable of reading DVD-R, DVD+R and double layer DVD. Smooth operation, clean and bright screen, decent sound and remote control make this a must buy.Battery gives approximately 3 hours of run time so don't forget the wires when your going for long trips. Not really a con, but the more you get the better it is, this would be the only improvement I would like to see here.Considering the price, you get a lot for not that much! asian women web cams live
