2 How...unexpected!

If Congress now has the power to force us to buy things, because it affects the aggregate, how about making everyone buy a firearm?   One could make the case that mandatory gun ownership would be beneficial to everyone!

3 All they wanted to do was replace his regular coffee with Folger's Crystals. I call gross over-reaction.

5 President Obama can now tout these five burglars as beneficiaries of eliminating pre-existing conditions for obtaining health care. Odds that taxpayers will be paying for treatment for their freshly applied aeration?

6 Dan hints he questions the motive for the break in because of the number of suspects, but it happens. My parents place was robbed by a similar size ring that ended up all getting caught when a lady hid under her deck and called the cops.

I like a guy who knows when his gun needs to be empty. Five dudes don't barge a house just to steal shit.

14 I love stories like this.  We seem to get them once every few months in Chicago where the person whose house is under attack is a senior citizen.  That kind of story really puts the lie to anti-gun crowd's insistence that firearms in the hands of regular, law-abiding citizens are never the answer.

16 Must have just got off the bus from California.

Home grown burglars here in WA will spend hours casing a house to make sure it's empty. They don't like getting their asses shot off.

36 This happened not 15 minutes from my house.  Across the Sound, as the crow flies.  It's pretty feral in those parts.

So, how many of us actually fantacize about introducing a 12-gauge slug to the abdoman of an intruder? I don't mean obsess, but, you know, prepare.

Was given the opportunity once.  A couple of punks on the property - about this time of night.  All it took was chambering the shell and  they sounded like a couple of bull elk running through the brush getting out of here.

But if I had to do it?  Yep.  Double-aught.  It'll blow a hole clean through, as well as a good chunk of the wall behind him.

42 This happened a few miles from my house. This wasn't a home invasion in the traditional sense. The "homeowner" had a large marijuana growing operation on his farm and the home invaders were after his stash of cash. The result was a major shootout between criminals.

I'm just sorry that they weren't better shots and killed each other all off. Then all the sheriff's deputies would have to do is pick up bodies.

In an utterly retarded post, Kratos brings up an intriguing point...

Hell, we didn't make these rules, we just gotta live with them.  So if I really do have to purchase health insurance, why not the same with guns?

Let the anti-gun left choke on their own judicial and legal creation.

Have you ever considered running for office, Kratos?  Cuz uh, I like the cut of your jib.

45 Hell, we didn't make these rules, we just gotta live with them. So if I really do have to purchase health insurance, why not the same with guns? Someone brought this up just a few days ago. The only time prior to this year that Congress compelled citizens to make a purchase was in 1792(?). In order to uphold the 2nd amendment, a law was passed requiring the purchase of a musket, shot & powder. Sorry, too lazy to start my search engine.

I'm just messing arround here.  I moved my cursor over your screen nic and saw that website and clicked over.

So, uh, what is James McKenna's position on "a law [...] requiring the purchase of a musket, shot & powder."

Because if he's in favor of it, I'll do a online donation to his campaign on the spot.

48 Don't know about mandatory purchases, but he is pro 2nd amendment. He's a real wingnut, favors enforcing immigration laws and thing Obamacare is un-constitutional. If you want to help him retire Marsha Coakley, the sane people of Massachusetts thank you in advance. Both of us.

Posted by: Jean at October 08, 2010 02:41 AM (OJHxW)

53 Heh.

A Montana woman has been charged with criminal mischief after allegedly taking a crowbar to a controversial art museum display in Colorado that critics say portrays Jesus Christ receiving oral sex from another man.

--snip--

It has triggered protests and even calls to police by critics asking for an investigation into whether it violates a Colorado law that protects children from obscenity, the Loveland Reporter Herald reported. The city attorney determined it did not.

--snip--

Police spokesman Andy Hiller said the work by Stanford University professor Enrique Chagoya has a tear in the panel with the depiction of Christ. The piece is part of an 82-print exhibit by 10 artists who have worked with Colorado printer Bud Shark.

Chagoya says he's sad that his book and the First Amendment were attacked.

"Should we as artists, or any free-thinking people, have to be subjected to fear of violent attacks for expressing our sincere concerns?

It would take a bus to load up all the tards in this story.

57 The other three burglars may have been wounded because the sheriff's department received phone calls from other locations in the area from suspects claiming to have been shot.

The interrogating officer would have a laugh. Three accidental self inflicted wounds? Or is anyone's appearance un-white enough to claim a hate crime from a drive by shooter?

And also inserted lead literally into the dumbasses. The frustration of perpetual rejection at metal detectors is worth a chuckle. "It's my ass."

Does the Castle Doctrine apply if your also committing a concurrent crime?
It should still apply since it's the matter of home invasion and fear of life and property at stake. The pot crime would still be prosecuted.

LAKEBAY, Wash.
Thursday night, what was mistaken by the occupant to be an invasion robbery
at a home on Key Peninsula that housed a large marijuana grow operation
turned into a massacre of the Publishers Clearing House Prize Team.
One award official is dead, at least two others are wounded and
as many as four may have fled into the woods, only to be eaten by the wildlife.

64 You know, I actually read the story and... It turns out the "homeowner" was actually running a marijuana plantation out of his "home." I guess it's legal to do that for "medical purposes" now out on the Left Coast? The short of the long of it is, No Great Loss if the "homeowner" had gone off to his eternal reward in the Great Marijuana Operation in The Sky. And it also shows how drugs are NEVER a good idea, even when legalized for "medical" reasons. Ace, you really need to read these stories before adopting them as your talking point of the day...

67 To those pointing out the pot grow operation: Ace doesn't read his own blog, so maybe if one of the cobloggers smacks him out of ewok hammock we'll see an update; but don't hold your breath.

Riehl, who he ganked it from, posted it when the article just talked about home invasion and a shooting.  King5 edited the article after it was posted by Riehl and Ace (look at the update tmestamps: Riehl and Ace posted it at about 1-1:30 AM, the article was updated at 7ish)

68 I don't want to be persnickety, but I'd rather see a "homeowner" busted for growing pot after foiling a home invasion than see a bunch of thugs waste the pot seller and steal his money.

Heck, I wouldn't even want a break-even - I figure gang-murder-theft is a worse crime than pot dealing.
