18 2 Besides this and "I Know What Boys Want", name another song by the Waitresses....no Google, Bing, or any other internet searches. They are known for one more song, and if you remember TV in 1982, you'll guess it.
That would be "Square Pegs".

Offered, gratis, to those of you hoping to get some Christmas snow from a region where they know snow (that would be Michigan's U.P., of course):
You need to work with professionals and an "eggnog dance" ain't going to cut it. Use The Heikki Lunta Snow Dance Song (click on the icon next to the title to hear it performed; it's really ... something.)

Ace is a pretty straight up dude, so far as I've seen.
Agree or disagree, he's pretty up front about his positions.
So, if he says that he is making stuffing, we should take this seriously.
Has he ever made stuffing before?
Why is he starting now?
I can't imagine a dogpile of stuffing recipes would be useful, though they would be tasty, so go ahead!
That would be a great use of the "tip-line", if you ask me!
Sure, 9 out of 10 calls are going to be useless for the investigation but everyone knows that one in three crazy ladies know how to cook awesome pancakes!
I think that the BAU needs to narrow their profile.

To all the troops still deployed: I know what itÂ’s like being overseas and deployed to a combat zone during the holidays away from family. During my Army career, I spent more time outside the country, (in peace and war) than stateside.
In the last 9 years the United States Army has done an incredible job with less Soldiers and fewer casualties than any military in a major war.
YouÂ’re doing a great job, and it cannot be said enough.
To all: Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year.
Take care,

Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher.
He never owned a home. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family. He never went to college. He never put His foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place He was born. He never did one of the things that usually accompany greatness. He had no credentials but Himself...
While still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against him. His friends ran away. One of them denied Him. He was turned over to His enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves. While He was dying His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on earth – His coat. When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.
Nineteen long centuries have come and gone, and today He is a centerpiece of the human race and leader of the column of progress.
I am far within the mark when I say that all the armies that ever marched, all the navies that were ever built; all the parliaments that ever sat and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man upon this earth as powerfully as has that one solitary life.

Martinis sure do sneak up on you. They have a delayed reaction, so when you have your second double you think all is well, only to have them go off in your system like a depth charge!
Shudder. Do NOT want to wake up feeling like THAT again!
A nice glass of merlot is just fine.
The snow pretty much bypassed us here in central Indiana and headed for DC, which serves them right. We still had a white Christmas from all of the stuff that is already on the ground. I am now going to watch Ralphie and family in "A Christmas Story," since it reminds me so much of my childhood. Instead of the Bumpass's, we had the Cordings, with goats and mules who always wandered onto our property. And Nehi soda was our favorite childhood drink.
Merry Christmas!

Merry, merry, merry all you good folks. I'm on one of my projects on a rig in the Gulf of Mexico this time. I kinda volunteered for this one so the guys with young kids could be home for Christmas. But the catering staff outdid themselves: Prime rib, lobster, ham, bacon wrapped shrimp, turkey and dressing, sweet taters, green bean cassarole, etc. No grog for the oil industry but I'm a contented man. However, The Almighty Hawk is outside and he's open for business. Tours around the rig are short duration today. 'Tis a bit chilly.
Thanks to all the vets and those who serve currently. God bless our great nation.

I'm not sure if it's the secularism as much as it's the socialism.
Mormons are the most charitable by most measures in this country, however they give to the church, not so much to schools etc. So if you break out philanthropy away from people's churches (which I think in a sense you should since giving to your own church is a different type of giving than giving to other types of charities... in a sense, one benefits from giving to one's church in terms of eternal salvation), I think that there's not a sharp divide between religious people and less or areligious people.
The US is the most generous country, but I think it's because we do so freely, rather than have it taken from us by the government to distribute.

If your church spends a good portion of its money on service to the poor, then giving indeed counts as a charity. Catholic churches spend quite a bit in help for the poor. Mormon churches have an outreach program, food banks, etc.
And giving to your church does not "buy' you salvation. The Scriptures tell us that.
The best advice I can offer is to check to see what is done with your money. Supporting a church is, indeed, charity, especially if you think of the lives that are changed by its work.
Charities like Samaritan's Purse and the Salvation Army are arms of the church, and the Salvation Army is a church in its own right.
Just check where your money goes, and give to agencies who help the poor and are NOT "community organizers."
God bless us, every one!

If you are a member of a church, you do - in a sense - benefit from the gifts you give to your church in the sense that you are part of that organization and its existence depends on your contributions. It's not that it is buying salvation, but there is a linkage between the survival of your church, made possible in part by donations (in a temporal sense), and your salvation. Without the church to which you belong, presumably it is more difficult to follow God's teachings and attain salvation.
In a very coarse sense - and not meaning any disrespect - gifts to ones church are a type of membership. (In some churches this is closer to being literally true than in others.)
I think that's a different equation than giving to other sorts of charities. And, from what I've read at professional philanthropy sites, it appears that there is generally an attempt made to separate out someone's charitable contributions to churches from donations to non-denominational/secular charities.
I still think the reason we in the U.S. give more generously than other countries has to do with our freedom to do so and the (relatively) lower involvement of the State in aspects of life that we leave to charitable organizations. As I recall, when I looked this up earlier this year there was a positive correlation between lower taxes and higher charitable giving (in the US).

My church also runs a food bank, help for unwed mothers, clothes for poor children, tuition assistance to kids who cannot afford catholic schools (and not just in our parish), help for the homeless, and a separate complete mission to Haiti, to which my parish, all by itself, has contributed over $100,000 this quarter alone.
Monsignor Mark and Father Don, our priests, also donate a portion of THEIR salary to programs for the poor.
So I think you are not informed on what churches do. If you are thinking those donations simply go for mortgage payments and pastor salaries, you are way off the mark.

RED starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Brian Cox, and Morgan Freeman, and the chick from Weeds.
Action flick, lotsa bullets flying, karate chops, courage, and jokes.
4/5 stars.
**Brian Cox is a great actor with a great screen presence. He has been in a lot of key roles in a lot of good movies, but has always gone under the radar, so to speak, in stardom.

My parish also pays bills for people who are out of work or are going through a tough time - whether they are Catholic or not. That comes from our general funds that are part of our tithe. I like this system because the parish office not only knows who needs the assistance but they don't forget to get the bills paid for the people like I probably would.
