— Ace Bang.

Riding a wave of opposition to Democratic health-care reform, GOP upstart Scott Brown is leading in the U.S. Senate race, raising the odds of a historic upset that would reverberate all the way to the White House, a new poll shows.Although BrownÂ’s 4-point lead over Democrat Martha Coakley is within the Suffolk University/7News surveyÂ’s margin of error, the underdogÂ’s position at the top of the results stunned even pollster David Paleologos.
“It’s a Brown-out,” said Paleologos, director of Suffolk’s Political Research Center. “It’s a massive change in the political landscape.”
The poll shows Brown, a state senator from Wrentham, besting Coakley, the stateÂ’s attorney general, by 50 percent to 46 percent, the first major survey to show Brown in the lead. Unenrolled long-shot Joseph L. Kennedy, an information technology executive with no relation to the famous family, gets 3 percent of the vote. Only 1 percent of voters were undecided. The poll shows that Democrats are unenthusiastic about the contest, whereas Independents are unusually enthusiastic for a non-presidential election, and a whopping 66% of Republicans are "looking for something cool and soft" to "dip their balls in."
I made up that last part but it's true.

Lemme see if I have this about right -
Republicans lose in 2006 & 2008 because they move away from conservatism. Democrats are losing in cobalt blue states in 2010 because they are too liberal. Anyone see a pattern here?

Scott Brown has been encouraging people to vote early through absentee ballot. The cities and town regularly report the number they have received and the reports on Howie Carr have been that the town clerks are flooded with cast ballots that are almost all certainly Brown votes.

TRANSLATION: 3% of the voters are fucked up enough to flash on the last name. And they called Florida voters "stupid".
IF Brown pulls this out, Barry will have had a really big spike called "Democratic Health Care Reform" shoved right up his skinny ass! Whether the Democratic Machine in Mass blocks his swearing-in prior to the Senate vote won't matter. The rest of the Dems in Washington DC will see which way the wind has blown and will be bailing from ObamaCare as fast as they can. If the Dems can't protect THE KENNEDY SENATE SEAT, nothing will be 'sacred'. Nancy and Harry can dangle all the money they want - the first rule of politicians is personal survival. Hey Ben Nelson! Want to 'reconsider' that vote?
The irony is that it's Dear Old Teddy's Seat that making all the waves.

Anyway, believe it or not people in Massachusetts love to have the attention of the national media. This was one reason that they tolerated Ted Kennedy. He was their boy and gave them national exposure. I'm sure all the national attention being paid to this race is playing locally to Brown's favor.

Looks like the widow was a turnoff, too:
The late Sen. Edward M. KennedyÂ’s widow, Vicki, and nephew Joseph Kennedy II gave the attorney general their official blessing last week.
But of the 500 voters surveyed, only 20 percent said the Kennedy family nod made them more likely to vote for Coakley, and 27 percent said the endorsement made them less likely to support her.

Rush today on the knocking down of the Weekly Standard reporter Tuesday:
'I know there were people following, including two from the Brown campaign who have been very aggressive in their stalking,' Coakley told reporters during an appearance at Kit Clark Senior Services in Dorchester. 'IÂ’m not sure what happened. I know something occurred, but IÂ’m not privy to the facts. IÂ’m sure it will come out, but IÂ’m not aware of that.'"
She watched it, and the pictures show her looking exactly at the reporter as he's on the sidewalk. She is the state's number one law enforcement officer. She stood by. She did nothing. She let it happen. She claims it now to be stalking. So will she retract her statement? Will Martha Coakley retract her statement blaming Republican stalkers now that her goon, Michael Meehan, has fessed up?

Look, I don't really want to have a big feud with you, curious. In fact, I can actually sorta understand your reflexive negativity (that is, assuming you're not really a concern troll, which at this point I suppose you're not since you're sticking around and not just doing a drive-by). But you have to understand that, unless you provide some more caveats and explanations in your posts (like "hey, look, I know I'm an Allahpundit eeyore type, but I just can't help it....") people are going to come after you in this sort of context. We are FIRED THE FUCK UP. This is such an improbable "Miracle On Ice" type situation that even the prospect of it has us bouncing around the room. Let us have our head here. You can do the "I told ya so" bit on Tuesday night if it all goes to hell -- just like I did in November, ruthlessly pointing out Sarah Palin's immense deficiencies as a VP candidate despite the obvious grassroots love for her that still abides.
What I'm saying is: don't be such a constant nelly, and we'll love ya regardless of your squishiness.

You know sometimes a good contribution helps!
Now I wouldn't suggest that you donate 10 cents to Martha so that she would have to process the donation, file the forms on your donation and of course pay a fee on the donation, which is usually a minimum of 50 cents. So OK Martha loses 40 cents on your donation.
No much more because your name will go into the list and you'll be mailed donation requests, minimum cost of that? About a $1.00 a piece. Help Martha out with a 10 cent money bomb!
Democrats always talk about the little people and the small donations, so go to #170 click on the link and live Martha a dime!
Did I mention it will tie up here servers if we all do this?
Just a thought, have a nice day.

#166 I lived through that nightmare. It was the start of the feeling that I was living in a parallel universe; the dems kept the count open until "they got it right."
The "High Fivin' White Guys" were from a more innocent time in Seattle. So my message to Brown supporters is "beware."
Malkin:
Guess which left-wing group is at the center of the worst case of voter-registration fraud in Washington state history? Yep, you guessed it: ACORN. The same ACORN tied to massive voter fraud in Missouri. And Ohio. And 12 other states.
King County prosecutors filed felony charges Thursday against seven people in what a top official described as the worst case of voter-registration fraud in state history, while the organization they worked for agreed to keep a better eye on its employees and pay $25,000 to defray costs of the investigation. The seven submitted about 1,800 registration cards last fall on behalf of the liberal Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, which had hired them at $8 an hour to sign people up to vote, according to charging documents filed in Superior Court.
Prosecutors didn’t sugercoat the fraud: “This was an act of vandalism upon the voter rolls of King County,” said Dan Satterberg, the interim King County prosecutor.
According to prosecutors, six ACORN workers “had admitted filling out registration forms with names they found in phone books last October. The canvassers filled out the forms while sitting around a table at the downtown Seattle Public Library.”
WSJ: The list of "voters" registered in Washington state included former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, New York Times columnists Frank Rich and Tom Friedman, actress Katie Holmes and nonexistent people with nonsensical names such as Stormi Bays and Fruto Boy. The addresses used for the fake names were local homeless shelters. Given that the state doesn't require the showing of any identification before voting, it is entirely possible people could have illegally voted using those names...
But the Acorn case points up just how difficult it is to convince prosecutors to bring voter fraud cases...
Take Washington state, where former U.S. attorney John McKay declined to pursue allegations of voter fraud after that state's hotly contested 2004 governor's race was decided in favor of Democrat Christine Gregoire by 133 votes on a third recount. As the Seattle media widely reported, some "voters" were deceased, others were registered in storage lockers, and still others were ineligible felons. Extra ballots were "found" and declared valid 10 times during the vote count and recount. In some precincts, more votes were cast than voters showed up at the polls.

My Dream Ad (if anyone ever had the balls to make it):
Opens on pic of Gerald Amirault. "Meet Gerald. He and his whole family were wrongfully convicted of child abuse and rape. Even the parole board decided to free him in the interest of justice. But Martha Coakley was running for office, and demanded that the Governor deny the parole. Gerald had to wait 3 more years in a cell for justice so Coakley could be re-elected."
Photo changes. "Now meet Keith Winfield. He raped his 23-month old baby neice with a curling iron. Martha Coakley intervened on behalf of the police union representing Winfield, and he got to go free to await trial without paying one cent of bail money."
Now a pic of Martha. "Marta Coakley. She keeps the innocent in jail to look tough, and lets real child molesters walk around free to appease special interests. Do you want her judgment representing your interests in Washington?"

From the comments section of the Washingtonpost article:
A new poll by CrossTarget – an Alexandria VA survey research firm – shows Scott Brown, a Republican, leading Martha Coakley, a Democrat, by 15.4% in Tuesday’s special election for the open Massachusetts US Senate seat. The poll of 946 likely voters was conducted by telephone using interactive voice technology (IVR) and has a margin of error of +/- 3.19%.
This is the first poll to show Brown surging to such an extent. A poll from the Suffolk University Political Research Center, published Thursday by the Boston Herald, had Brown moving ahead by 4%.
The special election is to fill the seat held by the recently deceased Edward Kennedy. Kennedy, a Democrat, served in the US Senate for 46 years. A Brown victory could stall legislation supported by the Obama administration, including health care.
What follows are the questions asked in the poll with the responses:
1. Thinking about next TuesdayÂ’s special election for US Senate. The candidates are Republican Scott Brown and Democrat Martha Coakley. If the election were today, who would you vote for? If Scott Brown press 1, if Martha Coakley press 2. If you are undecided press 3.
1. Scott Brown 53.9%
2. Martha Coakley 38.5%
3. Undecided 7.6%
2. And do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Scott Brown? If favorable press 1. If unfavorable press 2. If you are undecided press 3.
1. Favorable 60.5%
2. Unfavorable 27.5%
3. Unsure 12.1%
3. And what about Martha Coakley. Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Martha Coakley? If favorable press 1. If unfavorable press 2. If your undecided press 3.
1. Favorable 38.5%
2. Unfavorable 50.5%
3. Undecided 11%
4. Thank you. Only a small percentage of all voters will cast a ballot in this Tuesdays special election for US Senate. How likely is it that you will actually vote in this election on January 19th? If you will definitely vote press 1. If you might or might not vote press 2. If you probably wont vote press 3.
1. Definitely will vote 71.9%
2. Might or might not vote 21.4%
3. Probably wonÂ’t vote 6.8%
5. Now, let me ask are you a male or female? If you are male press 1, if you are female press 2.
1. Male 43.3%
2. Female 56.7%
6. Thank you. Now for the last question. Do you consider yourself a Republican, a Democrat or something else. If a Republican press 1. If a Democrat press 2. If something else press 3.
1. Republican 20.3%
2. Democrat 36.6%
3. Something else 43.1%

pathetic douchebags
Coming off stinging election losses in Virginia and New Jersey -- not to mention Copenhagen, where he failed to win the 2018 Olympics for his hometown of Chicago -- President Obama is staying away from what could become another painful loss.
Even though the campaign of Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley has been making quiet entreaties, the president has no plans to visit her in the last week of the special election to fill the Senate seat once held by the late Edward M. Kennedy.
"It's not on our schedule to go to next week," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said matter-of-factly.
With Mrs. Coakley flagging in the polls and Republican Scott Brown closing fast -- one recent polls puts him 2 points ahead -- Mr. Obama has decided to keep his fingerprints off a race that would be an embarrassment for Democrats should they lose, given that Mr. Obama won the state in 2008 by a 27 point margin.

It also mentioned a Brown rally to take place on Saturday January 19th.
Yup, they got the date wrong. The Worcester Tea Party apparently doesn't know the election is the 19th.

AHFF, no one digs up stuff the way you do. How are you doing?
Otis, you and you wife are always in my prayers, how are you guys doing?
Jeff B and Someone, I'm sorry that the whole situation occurred.
Guess I owe you all an apology. When I asked someone and Jeff B how long they had been posting here it was because I thought they were new posters and I felt I was somewhat of an older poster. (To me, surviving a year + here and being accepted was an accomplishment) I wasn't trying to appear better or superior or anything like that. But, I can understand how some might have taken exception. But the responses to how long people have been posting here are more hysterical than usual. I wish I had the gift of funny of some of the posters here. I'm good at digging odd things up and putting things together, sometimes before anyone else, but I don't think I have the funny that some of you have. That, that is a true gift. I have a sense of humor, I am good in person,, you would be laughing at dinner but when it comes to writing it down, it doesn't come easily, when it has to be a funny. I try very hard to post stuff that people who do the posting might run with later or use later. I sensed a change in the Coakley campaign away from the healthcare bill and towards taxing the banksters which is why I posted from her website. I know people took it the wrong way but I hope you all know me by now and know I am an independent who appreciates all of you. I apologise to everyone. I've never been attacked like that so my feelings got hurt. Also, I had some very sad news yesterday, I lost a friend. So I wasn't myself and probably still won't be for a long time. So, I hope you will all understand.
