For Congress: Bill Flores, TX-17
— Dave in Texas

Businessman, Conservative, Aggie.

And not Cornell A&M either, the one down here in Texas that Keef Olbermann sneered about.

TX -17 was redrawn a few years ago, carving Chet Edwards outta my town. It runs from just south of Ft. Worth, through Waco on to College Station, with a little rectangle thingy between. They took Killeen and Ft. Hood away from him, and that was his major focus for the past 20 plus years, the Army, and the two major veterans hospitals in the area.

Our main gripe with Chet has been he's a Democrat enabler. He voted against Obamacare (he knows hemlock when he smells it). I expected him to jump Republican years ago like Ralph Hall, but he thought he was bulletproof and invisible. Well he's not.

Here's a campaign ad:

RCP says TX-17 "leans Rep". Chet survived the gerrymander on Obama's coattails last time around. He's still got a lot of steam down here, and in DC. He's a senior member on both the Budget and Appropriations Committees, and also chairs the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations subcommittees. Flores would start somewhere further down in the pecking order.

But he'll vote with us.

guys i'm thinking of skipping school either on Nov 2 or Nov 3, which should I do to keep up w/ the dem-ache? Nov 2 would give me all day coverage of the voting, howevere Nov 3 would allow me to stay up to watch the results and savor the aftermath on Nov 3rd

6 How about some love for Joe Heck in Nevada's 3rd district.  That's Las Vegas and it would be a nice two-fer to knock Harry Reid out of the Senate and Dina 'Skank' Titus out of the house.

This guy is the real deal, and Titus is scum sucking coont that is always running for office.  She got lucky and rode the coattails of the current dipshit in the oval office to victory two years ago.  She needs to go.

But read Heck's bio--I'm sure he'd do a better job.

In that shot of Chet with Pelosi, there should have been a hand brushing Chet's lapel while the announcer says, "Hey Chet, looks like you got some crazy bitch on you.  Doesn't look like it's coming off.  MMMWWWWUUUHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!"

8 6 - will you be drinking heavily? If so, I would take off Nov 3 that way you can see the returns and sleep in the next day.

13 Nothing will happen Nov 2 until 7pm eastern. Better skip on the 3rd after staying up all night. Unfortunately, elections are most fun in the wee hours. After the debacle with Fl in 2000 and the ridiculous polls in 2004 they wait.

14 I go to church with Bill...nice guy. Chet has been here too long, and is way too liberal for this part of Texas. The last Flores internal poll had chet down 19. Sweet.

yeah I agree, it's sad to know our late night celebration in 04 was delayed one day after because they didn't want to call the election for Bush when it was obvious he won all thanks to Gore's antics

Posted by: AuthorLMendez (The Artist Formerly Known As YRM) at October 12, 2010 05:24 PM (xQuuU)

16 I took off the 3rd.  I figure I'll be up pretty late on the 2nd celebrating the returns.  I say take off the 3rd.  More action to pay attention to late on the 2nd as opposed to earlier that day.

Posted by: Geronimo at October 12, 2010 05:28 PM (t2HRi)

17 It was partly due to Gore's previous antics but there were exit polls all over that said that Kerry was up big. I pulled it up on the net at the exact moment about 3:15 eastern when I heard Hannity's voice go panicky. Turns out they were completely wrong. I remember Gillispie coming out and immediately saying that those polls were impossible. After that little freak session they stopped doing them. In the age of instant information even bad exit polls can effect an election.

18 Republicans actually think they can get another big oil man elected? Talk about doubling down on stupid.

i've always believed the media's horrible reporting and bias of things in 00 & 04 kept us from winning larger then we did, granted Bush was a horrible closer

20 I'm taking off the nights of the 1st & the 2nd. When I drag my ass in on the evening of Nov 3rd, I'll still be hungover and crusted in pudding.

22 Yeah take off the day after the election. I took off the day OF in 2000 and was up all night then was a zombie the next day and couldn't really watch what was happening.

23 Well I'll be dipped in shit, Edwards has been on our list since last summer .

24 Chet Edwards might lose.

To a Republican. With a Hispanic last name.

Cancel the STNP. Hook up a generator to Lyndon.

25 My gripe with Chet is that he's an arrogant asshole who tries to tell his constituents that they're just to stuuuupid to understand his super, awesome votes we disagree with.  They cut him out of my district and it breaks my heart every time I go to vote and can't vote against him. Of all the politicians I'll love to see go down in flames this November, Chet is at the top of my list.

Almost hosed him down at the parade in 2004, but after the Bush secret service scare, what with the kiddos sitting on the roof and them freaking out about it, my husband yanked the water hose outta my hands.  Here's to hoping Flores hoses him this year. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy!
