Kelly beats Giffords in AZ-8, Ruth McClung over Grijalva in AZ-7, Schweikert over Harry Mitchell in AZ-5 (my district), and Gosar over Kirkpatrick in AZ-1 would make me a very happy Zonie.  4 pickups in the House right there.  Interestingly, Ben Quayle (Dan's son), was thought to be a shoe-in in AZ-3 to hold the consistantly Republican Paradise Valley area district...the first pol I've seen (by Daily Kos/PPP, for what that's worth), has Quayle down by 2 points.  Be the wave Arizona!!!

Arizona is a state that could really use some help with "The Wave".  We're traditionally conservative (Goldwater!) but largely due to immigration (legal and illegal), population growth from California, Washington, Oregon, the Midwest and NE, and pandering to special interest groups (largely Latino...see Grijalva, and Native American...see Kirkpatrick), the state of Arizona hangs in a tentative balance.  We're on the forefront of some big issues, mainly immigration reform and border security, as well as jobs/foreclosures/economy.  We have our RINO's (McCain), moderates (Jan Brewer...immigration tea party hero, but recently raised taxes significantly), and solid conservatives (Jon Kyle, Jeff Flake). 

The action this election is in the House, where all 5 seats are nearly within the margin of error.  If you're in a district that is safe, and looking to help where it's needed most, please consider the Arizona races.

Quasi O/T. Good first day turnout for early voting down here in FL. Almost twice what it was for the primaries, which is no real surprise since they're closed.

37 The first Debate between Jesse Kelly and Gabrielle Giffords will take place tonight in the Student Union Ballroom at the University of Arizona. The doors open at 6:00 pm and close at 6:45 pm. The debate will begin at 7:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm.

I live in this district.  Gabby Giffords is only staying competitive here because she started with a lot more money and organization than Jesse Kelly -- and she's been using her money advantage to run a bunch of very misleading ads that grossly and unfairly distort Kelly's conservative views. 

 For example, Giffords is running ads that say Kelly, who supports a flat tax, wants to increase working-class Arizonans tax bills by 23%!!!  Kelly wants to bankrupt AZ families!!! 

Giffords is also running ads that claim Kelly, who wants to dismantle the useless federal Dept. of Education and get the fed gov't out of the state's business of educating its citizens, will "gut" funding for AZ schools and make it impossible for AZ college students to get school loans!!!

Giffords is a loyal Pelosi footsoldier in the Dims' war against American prosperity.  She voted for all the big-spending, big-government crap that Pelosi put up.  Giffords, who falsely claims she is "tough on border security" also voted against funding the border fence, opposes SB 1070, and called Tucson Tea Partiers "racists" for wanting a more secure border.

Giffords is a menace to Arizona, and to the nation.  If you have a few bucks to spare, please donate to Jesse Kelly's campaign. He needs the money for more ads to counter Giffords' false and misleading attacks on him.  Please help!

60 What does being a congressman have to do with being a father?  Did none of our founding fathers have kids?  His oldest looks 4 or so, but he was a Marine, and Marines have kids.  Both being a congressman and a Marine require sacrifice (or any other real public service, or it should).  The problem we have today is that being a congressman has way to many benefits and to few down-sides.  It is not a sacrifice, but an avenue to money and power.
