Alvin Greene has alot in common with Chuck Schumer.

3 Elect Greene:  He can beat Schumer to a camera.

10 You beat me, you fucker.

heh.

Imagine a press conference with both of them involved.

Posted by: Delta Smelt at October 14, 2010 11:40 AM (A0VTZ)

11 I sure hope some of you have signed up for a "BeTheWave" GOTV drive for Alvin this weekend.  He can't do it all alone, people!

Posted by: Serious Cat at October 14, 2010 11:40 AM (bAySe)

12 Gee, maybe Wolf Blitzer can moderate a debate between DeMint and Greene.  What could go wrong?

Posted by: Jane D'oh at October 14, 2010 11:41 AM (UOM48)

13

I can't watch videos with him anymore

I think at this point its pretty clear that he is mentally retarded, and I can't laugh at retarded people.  (literally retarded, not retarded as a pejorative)

It's one thing to be a jackass or stupid prick like Alan Grayson, but when I laught at Alvin Greene I feel like I am puting a rock in the path of a blind person.

Posted by: Ben at October 14, 2010 11:41 AM (wuv1c)

14

Here's another strange one of Alvin

Posted by: IreneFingIrene at October 14, 2010 11:42 AM (JNqU9)

15 He must have just got off the bumper boats.

Posted by: beerologist at October 14, 2010 11:42 AM (kTd8J)

16 In the video clip, the candidate is the man in a green hat with an "A" on it and wearing a green T-shirt standing over the reporter's left shoulder waving and making rabbit ears.

But is he a WITCH?!?!?!

Posted by: Wolf Blitzer at October 14, 2010 11:43 AM (MMC8r)

17 So we know the Greene has at least one dollar in his pocket

Posted by: nevergiveup at October 14, 2010 11:44 AM (0GFWk)

18 Who are the 11% supporting him?

Dyed Wool.

Would vote for a cow from the ole Circle D ranch.

19 Anytime someone on the left brings up Christine O'Donnell, we need to bring up Alvin Greene.

Posted by: Dave C at October 14, 2010 11:45 AM (6W34m)

20 Please contrast Christine the Teenage Witch with Mr. Greene. In the first case you have someone who's been falsely slandered as an idiot, and in the second case, you have a Democrat showing how idiocracy is really done.

Was that wrong?  Should I not have done that?

Posted by: Dang Straights at October 14, 2010 11:47 AM (fx8sm)

24 @13
Actually, I kinda agree with you.  I think the posts about him are funny (I don't think they should be stopped or anything), as well as needed respite from all of the stupid blunders our own side makes, but there is something wrong with him.  Watching him makes me feel uncomfortable.  I don't know if he's mentally retarded or a glue head, but I'd be surprised if he could pass a competency test.
I realize the idea that he was a joke candidate was debunked, but it sure seems like there has to be someone involved in keeping his campaign going.  Who that person is and what their motives are escapes me.

Yes, he's an idiot.  But he wouldn't necessarily be the dumbest person in Congress.

27 The comments at the link are interesting.  Of course, many believe the people in SC are 'tards themselves.  They're partly right.  The dem voters would qualify.

There's an interesting question - Greene, McKinney and Traficant, who would say the most oh my God did s/he really say that thing were they elected to Congress?  Traficant has the advantage of being sanish but he has +100 Hair Powers.

I didn't mean that I wanted other people to stop laughing or posting about it, but I've reached the point where I don't think he's an idiot, i think he is actually mentally retarded and I just can't bring myself to laugh at the retarded.

Also to the 11% who are going to vote for him, I think we finally have an exact number when we ask how many people will vote for their party of choice under any circumstances.

I don't know much about South Carolina politics, but I have to imagine that him being on the ticket will hurt every democrat running this November down the ticket line.  They can't be too please with this guy.

My recollection is he got written up repeatedly and eventually bounced out of the military (Air Force?) for being unable to follow simple commands.

I love our military, but they are human and there are a handful of them who have the same flaws the rest of us have.

I just looked up the polls today and saw that Joe Miller is virtually tied with Moorekowski in Rasmussen.  I'm worried, dudes. Joe Miller loosing to a write-in is not the message we need.  It would be a thumbs up from rural America for more pork and entitlement spending.  This is bad.

Related question.  In the case Leena wins, would you want the GOP to shun her?  Force her over to the Dems?  (Can they even kick someone out of their caucus?).  I dunno, seems like a dangerous precedent to let stand... independent bids against the party nominee.

The media market in alaska is cheap if i am not mistaken, Ace needs to get together with George Orwell and they need to cut a commercial that advertises for merkowski but that clearly mispells her name or gives out disinformation. Like claiming that all voters have to do is write in LM in the write in to count it as a vote.

Have a fund raiser on the HQ and try to get the spot on Alaska TV the night before the election.

From Drudge,

I am sure this is an honest mistake.

The Green Party candidate, in the close governor's race, Rich Whitney is labeled as "Rich Whitey" on ballots in predominately black districts.

That is one creative way to keep blacks from voting for the Green party and siphoning votes off of the Dems.

Related... Hoyer agreed to debate Lollar.  Only problem, its scheduled for Oct. 29, the Friday before voting day.  Way too late for Lollar to get any momentum out of it.

Yeah, that's frustrating.

He really does seem like a terrific candidate.  I hope that he runs for something again, if he doesn't succeed this time.  I haven't been able to find any polls, so I assume he's a pretty big long shot, but I think some of the Dems in that district are conservative and he does have an "in" in Prince George's county (from his job, not just because of his race).  So who knows what good thing can happen.

107 There's a fine line between being a garden variety meathead and being mentally-retarded. It's not an all-at-once thing, you know; "low normal" IQ is right around 72, but that's functionally mentally retarded. If you have an IQ below 70, I think most courts consider you mentally unfit to conduct your own affairs or to be legally responsible for your own actions, but above that.... It's a grey area. Stupidity is a sliding scale, not a concrete condition. I don't think Greene is retarded. He's just weird. I've known people like him in the past. They're actually quite intelligent in literal terms; they just have no social or interpersonal skills. It may even be a kind of autism.

44 No, no -- God bless them, but there are some truly stupid people in the military.  They usually get weeded out, but sometimes they slip through; you try to put them in positions where they will do the least amount of damage...and possibly assign a babysitter to them...try to get around giving them the option of reenlisting.

Now, this does not make them evil or scum (and in that regard I don't think of Alvin as being necessarily evil scum -- so he does have that over most of his party) but nonetheless really, really stupid.

No, it is a statement on the Democrats of SC. The big wigs of the Party were complacent and figured it was in the bag for their man. Instead as they sat around and only a few people showed up at the polls on primary day the Democrat race was hijacked by politically active black churches who pushed the "black" candidate.

Keep in mind, very few of the electorate vote in primaries anyway. In a year like this one with the Dems persihing they had an even lower turnout. He won with a Statewide vote of 100,362. The total primary votes were 170K. Contrast that to the Republican primary who had well over 400K.

This kind of thing is exactly how the Kossites were able to defeat Lieberman in the MA primary.

222 I've worked outside polling places and there is actually tape on the ground which cannot step over while you have literature or are talking up your candidate or issue. She was in the actual polling place to cast her vote and obviously thought that pushing her husband's agenda was not campaigning or that she was exempt because she's the mate of "the one" and that no one in Chicago would rat her out. An electrician took pics and said she was pushing Obama's agenda.
