— Ace Slightly more big-budget than 2010: A Pudding Odyssey.
Yeah, I know -- what the hell's up with just posting videos? Sorry, can't seem to find my voice today.
Here's something minor: "Someone" suggested a moratorium on good poll news, suggesting it bred complacency.
I don't know-- I am more of the mind you have to think big to win big. Yes, my idea means that we may be disappointed on election day, but you know what? I can live with disappointment, having set the bar too high. I will deal with that then. Until then, I want to push the idea that there is no such thing a a race we can't win. There are no give-ups
As for complacency: I sort of think fervor about a big win will be the more important factor here. Yes, such talk breeds complacency too, but I think people are more encouraged to join a winning cause.
Right? Or not?

Want to kick a puppy and choke a kitten while slamming my dick in the sliding glass door.
Thoughts of randomly clotheslining hippies from my truck window.

I agree that over-hyping is less a danger than under-hyping. Polling shows that Rep enthusiasm is near max-levels. Dem enthusiasm is actually around normal... but if they feel like their gonna loose regardless, but its only a question of how bad, then their enthusiasms may actually depress over the next month. You thinks Dem activists care much whether they lose by 20 seats or 50? A loss is a loss.
Independents may also want to join the "election wave" bandwagon.
Posted by: Serious Cat at October 06, 2010 01:54 PM (bAySe)
The only drawback I can see to lording it up over these polls is, the lefties will find a tiny ray of sunshine if we don't deliver every seat possible. You know how they are. For crying out loud, they were revelling in the Paladino/Cuomo numbers this morning, like that one shouldn't be in the bag since Cuomo's nomination.
I want them to think about how hard we're laughing at them and dissolve into tears of hippie rage.

If you think about it, polls only reflect those who are polled. Yes, there are mathematical models for suggesting why they reflect opinions of the general public, but IMO when the same question is asked of different people on different occasions, the results aren't what you and other commenters and so-called pundits think they are.
Maybe I'm an "outlier" (isn't that the "Pillsbury Doughboy's" term-of-art?) but I don't think the numbers mean as much as many others do. Except, that is, for the actual voting numbers, and even those can be skewed (see Franken, Al; Obama, Osama; ACORN, et. al.)

Republicans should never be about hiding from reality because we think it hurts us politically. We tried hiding from the (bad) reality about Iraq and it killed us in 2006. Hiding from the (good) reality in 2010 won't help us out any better.
If American patriots are too lazy too vote and campaign hard this fall, we deserve to lose.
Posted by: Emperor of Icecream at October 06, 2010 02:08 PM (epBek)
I was thinking that Gallup is trying to set up Republican complacency with their outlandish eye popping figures. But so long as voters stay revved, realizing that without each person's participating on the ballot there'll be no avalanche let alone victory, then each voter go do it. Definitely think how big your own vote really is. Cast it.

Well, gotta be reasonable on that state rights shit, you know. Can't have them following federal immigration policy or the like. States Rights is something that needs to be applied selectively, pretty soon that Federalism shit will get out of control and you'll have trouble forcing them to pick up Federal mandates for welfare and healthcare and the like. And when it allows TinPot Jesus to pretty much vote 'Present' on the issue, well, so much the better.

Since we've been winning all along, there is every reason to be a realistic optimist. The name brand pollsters, most of whom are Democrats, will be moving towards electoral honesty as we get closer to the election because they don't want to lose their credibility. I am starting to see it already.
The real problem will be the close races we win and there will probably be several of them. I hope the GOP is ready for recounts and legal challenges because there will be a whole lotta cheating going on - the Dem incumbents who lose in close races won't go quietly into the night.
