FOX: Rachel Maddow is "Voice Of Reason" at MSNBC
— Purple Avenger

THE. VOICE. OF. REASON. Go ahead, try to get your head around that one. I double dare you.

OK, now that we've gotten past that bizarre and incomprehensible gibberish out of Fox, let's move onto something a tad more believable. Apparently government "scientists" are bitching about the Ogabe junta being no more responsive to their plaintive wailings about various dire things that threaten the very survival of the planet than the evil Bushitler Reich was.

...Many government scientists hailed the president's pronouncement. But a year and a half later, no such rules have been issued. Now scientists charge that the Obama administration is not doing enough to reverse a culture that they contend allowed officials to interfere with their work and limit their ability to speak out.

"We are getting complaints from government scientists now at the same rate we were during the Bush administration," said Jeffrey Ruch, an activist lawyer who heads an organization representing scientific whistle-blowers....

If you go read the whole article in the Sun, it becomes apparent that their scientific concerns aren't being "ignored" per se, rather people with higher level executive authority have weighed their "concerns" against other competing issues and made an executive decision to favor one over the other. This is precisely what we pay executive level decision makers to do - weigh competing issues and make the best decision based on available data.

The "scientists" are very upset that their narrow focused "concerns", that are oblivious to potentially larger other overriding concerns, aren't dictating policy.

TOUGH. SHIT.
Apparently there are still a small handful of adults somewhere in the lower levels of the Ogabe junta. That's something we can all be mildly encouraged by.

2 "an activist lawyer"

That explains everything.  As well as the lack of credibility.

Is that code for "we're not getting enough of that sweet, sweet gubbamint money"?

Sometimes that's a good thing.

12 Fox News has always tilted to the left. While true they have some conservative opinion shows like Beck the news itself is a different story.

Following the buy-in of the Saudi prince they have moved even further to the left. They actively kiss Obama's ass now.

I no longer turn them on much at all. My news now comes from the net almost exclusively.

14 In relative terms, I guess The Maddow is the voice of reason in the asylum that is MSNBC -- in that she doesn't display the various forms of mental illness manifested by their other hosts. She's a lying, bigoted crapweasel...but is mostly likely more or less sane when compared to the likes of Col. Klink-Olbermann and Sgt. Schultz.

IOW, these clear thinkers looked at the Empty Suit's vague promises and read into them all the hopes and dreams that they held within their nerdy little hearts, and now, Reality's a bitch, and Barry banged them and didn't call in the morning.

Writ large, that's America today.

"Not exactly a high hurdle to clear..."

I would imagine that being an actual Voice of Reason at MSNBC would be a very delicate act of counterbalancing actual reason and logic against being looney enough to keep your show on the air.  People don't turn on MSNBC to get some knowledge dropped on them.  They turn it on because it was a hard day of battling reality, and they need a warm blankey of progressive reassurance to cuddle up with.

Oh, the irony:

Michelle Obama today used her first visit to the Gulf coast devastated by the BP oil spill to urge Americans to support the local economy by spending their summer holidays there.

And let's see, where are you, Barry and the fat kids spending your upcoming vacation?

So, what about all the dire stuff that was going to kill us under Reagan, Bush 41, and Clinton? Are we going to give these concerned government scientists the funding they NEED to save us from an apocalypse that will kill us all in 1988, uh, 1992, uh 2000?

53 People don't get it.  Obama's agenda - his sole agenda - is destroying capitalism.  If the climate folks fit into that agenda, fine - but he doesn't give a rip about the climate.  If he can get the main job done faster by passing other things (like HealthCare), then that's going to be his priority.  But if these people can just hold on 'til the Lame Duck session - they may get their piece of the pie.
