— Gabriel Malor Above-the-Post Update: Well that was fun. If you missed it and want to listen, the show will be up here, for listening over the web, or you can find the Stage Right Show on iTunes.
Original Post:
I know, I know, we've all heard a lot about it today, but I'll be on Larry O'Connor's Stage Right Show at 9pm PACIFIC arguing with Larry about Dave Weigel and his departure from the Washington Post.
Direct link is here (that'll go live at 9pm). Feel free to call in or join the livechat. Last time I was on the show a couple of the morons got through, including long-time commenter eddiebear.

A cookie cutter urban liberal mangina?
Posted by: Delta Smelt at June 25, 2010 08:43 PM (0pYSi)
He does have value, though. We now can confirm that WaPo has an agenda and it isn't anything to do with providing two sides to a discussion.

he was someone we(or most people) thought was a WAPO "House" conservative in the mold of Parker, Douthat, Frum, Brooks, etc. Many of us doubted that he was even conservative, and thanks to the JList leak we have found out that he clearly is a left wing hack.

The problem I have with the whole thing is that I thought that The Washington Post was going to give conservatives a small break with this column in their paper. The didn't. Instead they just had another liberal trashing conservatives.

1. Someone who privately dislikes something: a person, a product, a point of view, a philosophy, is less likely to do as good a job reviewing it, supporting it, representing it, etc., than someone who is favorably inclined, or even neutral, towards it.
2. When the private dislike is revealed, many people will lose trust in the information presented: is the overall wording appropriate, are certain items under- or over-emphasized, what's missing?
3. People are tired of careful selection of "news-worthy" material, selective editing (important, attitude-changing facts buried 11 paragraphs down), selective presentation (page C23), a never-ending series on one-one reporting punches.
How much of this did Dave Weigel do?
We have to ask; rightly or wrongly, Weigel now appears to have been a plant, a mole.

even if he wasn't, he took the job at WAPO knowing they would sell him as a "conservative" or at least right leaning, and he did nothing to change these perceptions by being honest with his policy positions.

-->he was someone we(or most people) thought was a WAPO "House" conservative in the mold of Parker, Douthat, Frum, Brooks, etc.
I often wonder if anyone reads these people seriously, or if their dribblings only serve as fodder for others to make fun of. Then, again, I can't believe Colmes can support himself with a radio show. That's just sad.

Well, you know as well as any moron that we on the right are told that the elitist republicans who write for the NYT, WAPO, etc are our intellectual betters and their opinions need to be respected and motives never questions.
Well here we were being sold a new guy at WAPO, and it turns out his motives were less than honorable.
so we on the right are not only driving in the knife, we are taking the time to twist it.

I have to say, having never listened to this guy Larry O'Connor, or even heard of him: he's a solid pro. As Gabe was leaving the studio, Larry courteously said, "Oh, by the way Gabe, did you know that your barracks door is open?"
Gabe did not understand Larry's remark, but later on he happened to look down and saw that his zipper was open. He decided to have some fun with his new friend. Going back in, he asked, "By the way Mr. O'Conner, when you saw my barracks door open, did you also see a soldier standing at attention?"
Larry, replied, "Why no, Gabe. All I saw was a little, disabled veteran sitting on two duffel bags."

I think that Gabriel Malor acquitted himself quite well when it comes to explaining the meaning of the "fooferaw" that happened with Weigel.
Didn't come across as a judgmental, dick.
But got some good points in.
I don't care how he sounds, right now, someday this kid is gonna be a judge.
I'm very OKAY with that.
When he is 50+.
Not before.

Seriously though, he does a very good job of expressing himself.

ot - How is it that Barney Frank(D) and Chris Dodd(D) (two of the most disgraced and financially inept) are able to be in charge of the legislation that will force our economic structure into full-time Fannie and Freddie?
How is this happening and no one cares?

Man, what a great one-hour drunken rant that could be. (Already thinking ratings).

Oh look- the government is adding to our overhead. Thank you Barney and Dodd.
"To pay for some of the new government programs, the bill would allow the government to charge fees to large banks and hedge funds to raise up to $19 billion spread over five years. The assessment is designed to eventually pay down a part of the national debt." (riiiiight)
(yeah - great - that won't trickle down to the consumer - no no no.)
&
"Government-controlled Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac remain a multibillion dollar drain on the U.S. Treasury, and largely untouched by this proposal. And the banking sector in parts of Europe remains fragile."

Brilliant. "Drink, fuckers!" could be a tagline. Not exactly going to get me a gig sitting in for Rush, but could be fun.

CDR, I live an hour north of Austin.
Us selfish bitches cheer Tex/Mex hurricanes just so we get some rain.
(granted we also might get the brother in law, his wife, 3 kids, 3 grandkids, 4 dogs and 2 cats for a week. We did with Rita and Ike).
Still, raaaaaaaaaaaaaaain

Because 52% of the country don't know and don't believe that government had any role in the financial meltdown.

I guess Scott Brown didn't get the "Don't trust Barney and Chris" memo, either.

Sigh... when I think of what I could have done with the $2400 my family sent Scott Brown... and the $400 I spent on a Scott Brown autographed baseball...
My point is, that's a lot of tranny hookers.

I am completely neutral in all my internet interactions, so I hope to land a job as a reporter soon. Nobody will ever know how I truly feel.
